  • Patent number: 6332131
Abstract: A method and system automatically harmonizes access to a given software application program via different access devices. Through use of the method and system, a financial institution can provide access to a given application (such as, for example, automatic bill payment services) to customers using different access devices such web browsers, screen phones and personal computers. A single application program is all that needs to be written and maintained by the financial institution. Also, the method and system enables financial institutions to “leverage” existing programs because now the institution can automatically “project” its existing stock of program services unto new access devices—devices which may not have even existed at the time the program was created.

  • Patent number: 6303491
Abstract: A method for fabricating a self-aligned contact hole in accordance with the present invention is disclosed. First a conductive layer, a silicon oxide layer, and a first silicon nitride layer are formed on a silicon substrate. Next, the first silicon nitride layer, the silicon oxide layer, and the conductive layer are etched to form a trench. Then, a BPSG layer is formed over the first silicon nitride layer. A photoresist layer having an opening is defined. Then, using the photoresist layer as the masking layer, a part of BPSG layer is etched to form a self-aligned hole. Next, the photoresist layer is removed. Afterward, a second silicon nitride layer is formed and etched back to form a spacer.

  • Patent number: 6246563
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromagnetic actuator for a rapid linear motion with a limited length of stroke. The electromagnetic actuator includes a stationary arranged first coil (1, 6) and a second movable coil (2), with the winding of the stationary coil connected to controllable power source (7) and the winding of the movable coil is short-circuited without any galvanic connection to an external power source The ends of the winding of the movable coil of the electromagnetic actuator is short-circuited via a rectifier element (9), preferably a diode. The diode allows a current to be developed in one direction only in the winding of the second coil, said current being induced from an electromagnetic field generated by a current through the first coil. In this manner is a double-acting electromagnetic actuator with very low weight obtained, resulting in very rapid response and high reliability, due to the lack of any external electrical connections to the movable coil.

  • Patent number: 6235553
Abstract: A method and system for providing specialized contacts for electronic information on a smart card or other device in the pattern of a source identifier, such that a machine may contact and read the information upon placement of the card in the machine. The contact points for reading information on the card are formed by etching a substrate attached to the logic element of the smart card. The etching allows both the foreground and the background of an image, in two selected colors, to be included within the contact area of the smart card, with the foreground constituting the conductor and the background the substrate. Additionally, the present invention provides electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for a semiconductor circuit within the smart card without changing the appearance or method of forming the contact points.
