  • Patent number: 4848309
Abstract: A punch for forming a rectangular opening in cinder block. The punch includes a housing having a wall with a toothed edge and which is generally rectangular in crosssectional shape. A tube is secured to the housing and extends perpendicularly outwardly from the toothed edge so that the axis of tube is positioned within the interior of the area circumscribed by the toothed edge of the housing. A rod having a piercing point at one end is slidably mounted within the tube so that the piercing point is contained within the housing while the other end of the rod protrudes outwardly from the free end of the tube. In use, the housing and piercing point are both positioned against the cinder block. The rod and free end of the tube are then struck by a hammer in order to form the rectangular opening in the cinder block.

  • Patent number: 4848810
Abstract: A device for manual or automatic opening of an aircraft safety equipment box includes a pin fixed to the box door, a pivotable hook engageable with the pin, and a resilient return assembly associated with the hook. The return assembly has a main spring urging the hook to a disengaged position and a locking lever pivoted about the same axis as the hook. In its locked position the lever abuts and holds the same part of the main spring as holds the hook in its engaged position. In the release position the lever frees the main spring to drive the hook to disengage it from the pin. The return assembly further has a secondary spring for returning the lever to its release position and the hook to its engaged position. The return assembly includes a release plate locking the lever in its locked position. Displacement of the plate causes the hook to disengage from the pin.

  • Patent number: 4849911
Abstract: A method for inputting data representing an engineering drawing to a computer aided design system. The method comprises the steps of creating the engineering drawing on quadrille paper or graph paper having criss-crossing lines. After creation of the drawing, the drawing is scanned by an optical reader which produces an electrical output signal representative of the drawing data. This output signal is electrically connected as an input signal to the computer aided design system. When editing the drawing, a computer generated grid pattern corresponding in scale to the criss crossing lines on the quadrille paper is superimposed on a video monitor of the computer aided design system thereby facilitating editing of the drawing on the computer aided design system.

  • Patent number: 4848625
Abstract: A holder for carrying a vacuum bottle and like containers includes, in one embodiment of the invention, an open cylindrical resilient band having two ends. On one end is adhesive that coacts with the complementary surface of the other end to secure a vacuum bottle encompassed by the cylindrical band. A looped protrusion is provided for supporting the cylindrical band on a person's apparel, such as a belt.In another embodiment of the present invention, the cylindrical band is carried on one end of a strut having at the other end a support for the bottom of the vacuum bottle. When the vacuum bottle is placed on the support and the band encompasses the bottle, the strut and bottle can be carried on a person's apparel, on a belt for example.

  • Patent number: 4846287
Abstract: An impact apparatus, e.g. for moving portions (2, 3) of two elements (4, 5) away from each other by a wedge shaped tool (1), which is introducable between said portions, comprises a carrier (9), to which the tool is attached and which is movable relative to a body (10) of the apparatus. An impact member (11) is also movable relative to the body. A movement transmission device (12) acts between the carrier and a device (13) for activating such force influence on the impact member that it is caused to apply an impact on the carrier. The apparatus is so designed that when the carrier (9) is displaced due to actuation of the tool, the movement of the carrier is transferred via the transmission device to the activating device, which causes force influence on the impact member. The activating device (13) may be a valve for pressure fluid supply.
