  • Patent number: 4780172
Abstract: An improved tape dispenser includes a housing having parallel spaced sidewalls which have lower edges defining a housing base. The sidewalls may be joined at the top, front and rear of the dispenser but remain open at the lower edges. A resilient tongue extends between a forward portion of the sidewalls and has a portion which protrudes below the lower edges. The protruding end portion has a straight, radiused end for smoothly engaging and applying the tape. A cutting blade is disposed slightly forward and above the end portion of the tongue. Tabs on a rearward surface of the tongue form a guiding slot for the tape and prevent the leading edge from being retracted into the dispenser. Upon drawing the dispenser rearwardly with the lower edges parallel to the surface, the resilience of the tongue causes the radiused end portion to press the tape down to the surface.

  • Patent number: 4779474
Abstract: A power unit of the type varying its length comprises three members movable in relation to each other. The power unit is used for transferring load from a first load carrier to a second one. In order to make this transfer possible in a satisfying manner, the power unit has to be constructed so that it can be extended to at least two times its length in the contracted state. For this reason it is a necessity that transmissions comprising wheels (13) and a loop (15) laid around these are so arranged, that when the third member (3) is displaced with respect to the first member (1) fixed in the room, at the same time the second member (2) is displaced in the same direction and the same distance with respect to the third member (3). In order to solve this problem in an appropriate manner the invention proposes to design the first member (1) with at least partly the character of a housing for the power unit, with an elongated shape in cross section.

  • Patent number: 4778972
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically rethreading the electrode wire of a traveling wire EDM apparatus through a pair of close tolerance wire support and guide members, one disposed on one side of a workpiece and the other on the other side of the workpiece, and for threading the end of the wire through a starting aperture in the workpiece. Prior to threading or rethreading the wire, the wire is heated in a heating zone while a pull is exerted on the wire such as to elongate the heated portion of the wire to reduce its diameter. After cutting off the wire at the beginning of its reduced diameter portion, the reduced diameter portion of the wire is threaded through the wire guide members and the aperture in the workpiece. The threading of the wire is effected by a feed mechanism disposed upstream of the first wire guide member which preferably is the same mechanism as the brake mechanism effecting a pull on the wire during normal operation of the EDM apparatus.
