  • Patent number: 4736536
Abstract: A label for identifying the subject matter of a photograph or like item includes an envelope having two portions: a first portion containing identifying indicia and a second portion containing extensions and adhesive for affixing the envelope to said photograph. A longitudinal fold divides the first and second portions so that, in use, the second portion is affixed to the back of a photograph while the first portion lies closely adjacent the front of said photograph but without obscuring the subject of the photograph. Tabs bearing adhesive are disposed at the ends of the first portion and are folded around and attached to the second portion to form a pocket or envelope into which a photograph may be inserted. The device results in a substantially flat identifying label affixed securely to the photograph which may then be viewed, mounted or stored as desired.

  • Patent number: 4735310
Abstract: A shipping container for transporting a variety of aircraft engines includes a base, a cover and a plurality of engine-engageable support portions carried on the base which are at least one of vertically, horizontally and angularly displaceable with respect to the base of the container. The cover is disposable over the base so as to contain the engine therebetween. The support portions are preferably formed on the surface of swing brackets pivotally mounted to vertically adjustable riser brakets, which are telescopically received in corresponding riser support brackets, which are in turn horizontally slidably affixed to base brackets on the container base. The cover and base are externally dimensioned so that one container can be stacked atop another container, or moved by a forklift, and so that individual bases are stackable as well.

  • Patent number: 4735094
Abstract: A dual bluff body vortex flowmeter includes a flow passage having first and second ends and a vortex-responsive sensor disposed in the passageway between its ends. A parallel pair of circularly cylindrical bluff bodies are disposed one each between the sensor and the two ends of the passage. The downstream portion of each bluff body faces towards the sensor, so that the sensor is responsive to vortices shed from either the first or second bluff body, when fluid flows in the passage from the first to second end, or from the second to the first, respectively. The sensor is preferably a piezoelectric device mounted in a cantilever beam disposed between the first and second bluff bodies and connected to the interior wall of the flow passage.

  • Patent number: 4735313
Abstract: The present invention provides a carrier for transporting and storing cylindrical cans. The carrier includes a plurality of elongated cylindrical tubes which are open at each end and have a longitudinally extending slot formed along their front. Each tube is dimensioned to slidably receive a can through its open top while a stop adjacent the bottom end of each tube retains the cans within the interior of the tube. The tubes are constructed of a resilient material so that, by grabbing and pulling a can from the bottom of a tube, the tube flexes outwardly and allows the can to pass past the stop and out of the bottom of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4733474
Abstract: The present invention provides an archery sight having an elongated housing which is secured to the bow. A first opening extends through the front and rear sides of the housing while a second opening is longitudinally positioned from the first opening and is only opened to the front side of the bow. A planar mirror is secured along one side of the first opening while the housing and a parabolic mirror is contained within the housing and alinged with the second opening. The other side of the first opening is transparent so that a split image is viewed through the first opening. Both the parabolic mirror and the planar mirror are arranged so that when the halves of the split image viewed through the first opening are aligned, the bow is properly aimed. In another form of the invention, two planar mirrors are contained in the housing while a parabolic mirror is disposed across the second opening. The mirrors can also be constructed as a prism.

  • Patent number: 4730551
Abstract: A heat distributor for equalizing the temperature gradient of a room. A housing is supported on a gridwork of a suspended ceiling. Warm air from near the ceiling is drawn through a perforated panel and an air filter mounted in the housing. An electric fan directs the warm air downwardly through a baffle having a conical flange to form a column of warm air which is directed to the floor. A rotatable, perforated disk has wedge shaped walls to compress the air and direct the column of air to a targeted area below. A source of ultraviolet radiation is installed in the housing to sterilize the warm air.

  • Patent number: 4731379
Abstract: A flea eradicator consists essentialy of 1.7 percent by weight dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate and 0.3 percent by weight sodium benzoate in water. The composition is topically applied and kills fleas substantially more quickly than do conventional flea soaps. The use of dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate avoids thre problems of malodorous soaps, toxic insecticides and alkalin harshness usually associated with flea soaps. The need to incorporate polyethylene glycol or lanolin in the flea eradicator is thereby eliminated, as is the need for any other toxic insecticide. The use of sodium benzoate appears to promote healing of the infested area.

  • Patent number: 4724596
Abstract: A method of making interlocked metal tube from a strip of the metal of generally S-shaped cross-section by which the shaped strip is formed into a helix without interengaging adjacent coils of the helix, passing the helix without rotation through a rotating driving means to move the non-rotating helix axially, interengaging adjacent coils of the helix and then performing an operation to prevent subsequent disengagement of the adjacent coils, thereby to form an interlocked metal tube. The driving means for the helix is a rotatably-driven mandrel around which the open helix is placed. The mandrel has intermediate its ends a radially-outwardly extending integral portion in which there is a helical passageway forming a tunnel through which the helix is passed and from which the helix is delivered to move without rotation axially along the remainder of the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 4725704
Abstract: An EDM apparatus having a first support member for the workpiece and a second support member for the guide members of an electrode wire. A cross-slide provides relative linear motions between the two support members for effecting a cut in the workpiece by the electrode wire. A third support member carrying a form electrode tool is arranged to be selectively held stationary either relative to the first support member, by an appropriate first coupling member, or relative to the second support member, by a second coupling member. Under the first condition, the cross-slide provides the necessary relative linear displacements between the electrode wire and the form electrode tool for cutting the electrode tool by the electrode wire and, under the second condition, the same cross-slide provides the necessary displacements for sinking the electrode tool into the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4723744
Abstract: A support for use in conjunction with a camper (carriable by a conveying vehicle) and a plurality of conventional lifting jacks is constructed from square cross section ferrous tubing. The support is collapsible from an assembled state in which it supportively abuts the bottom of the camper when the camper is not carried by the vehicle. The support eases at least a significant portion of the load of the camper from the jacks, so as to avoid buckling of the camper sides by the jacks. Preferably, the jacks are maintained in position to stabilize the camper against transverse movement caused by wind or by movement inside the camper. The support is constructed from a pair of opposing end elements, each having a pair of vertical members connected by a horizontal cross member, and an upwardly opening socket on the upper ends of the vertical members.

  • Patent number: 4722153
Abstract: A cover joint for masonry and sheet material structures and a method of forming the joint between two structure surfaces comprising attaching a cover strip member having inner and outer leg parts at the joint by firstly securing the outer leg parts, which are provided with apertures, to the structure surfaces by settable material which extrudes through the apertures. The outer leg parts are offset from the inner leg parts to provide a space between the inner leg parts and the structure surfaces. A coating of filling and settable material is then applied over the outer leg parts to provide smooth tapered uninterrupted surfaces thereon. The cover strip member may be of planar form or in the form of an angle member.
