  • Patent number: 7104871
Abstract: An apparatus and method for re-surfacing compact discs. One method is a two-step method in which the disc to be re-surfaced is first placed on a shaft. A resilient pad supports an abrasive medium and is positioned so the abrasive medium overlaps only the protective layer of the CD. The disc and abrasive material are rotated in opposite directions at about the same speed to remove deeper blemishes in a wet operation. Subsequent polishing is accomplished in a similar manner using a polishing compound instead of an abrasive. The re-surfacing and polishing apparatus each have motor driven shafts which are parallel and spaced apart and support the CD and pad in a cabinet. A transparent cover extends across the top of the cabinet. In another embodiment, the resurfacing and polishing is accomplished in a one-step operation in which polishing fluid is applied to a non-abrasive medium is utilized and the fluid is continuously recycled.

  • Patent number: 7086661
Abstract: A protective towing shield or curtain attachable to the rear of a towing vehicle. The towing shield has a flexible mesh panel which is coupled to a retractor. When in use, the panel is deployed and attached to the front of the towed vehicle. The deployed curtain extends horizontally between the vehicles to downwardly direct and deflect road debris, rock, gravel, salt and the like. The curtain is readily attached and detached to the towed vehicle at fasteners such as by detent pins engageable in eye bolts. A turn support strut is attached when the curtain is deployed. The curtain, including the strut and fasteners, may be stored on the retractor when not in use.

  • Patent number: 7074043
Abstract: A firefighting training unit and a method of fabrication such a unit. The fabrication involves modifying an existing structure such as a steel cargo container. The modification procedures first require that combustibles be removed and a steel floor welded in place of the existing wood floor. Viewing ports and access doors are provided in the sidewalls. Roof ventilation vents are cut in the roof and the opening controlled by a hinged hatch. The units are economical, mobile and may be used for both fire training and forensic investigation.

  • Patent number: 7056225
Abstract: A golf club matching method in which the ideal shaft stiffness for a particular golfer is first empirically determined using calibrated test clubs. The shafts are incrementally trimmed to result in a set in which each club has the same or ideal shaft frequency or stiffness. The manufacturing method may be automated using a computer controlled cutting operation to fabricate a number of matched club shaft blanks by inputting information relative to the desired stiffness, shaft blank characteristics, club head, grip, finished club length and other data.

  • Patent number: 7051676
Abstract: An animal water feeder having an improved flow control nozzle. The flow is controlled by the animal engaging a movably confined ball at the terminus of the nozzle. A portion of the ball is exposed. The nozzle assembly includes a tube extending downwardly from the feeder. The tube includes a valve, an actuator having at least one water passage therein an engaging pin positioned adjacent thereto, and the ball. Movement of the ball opens the valve to release water which flows past the actuator to the terminus of the tube.

  • Patent number: 7032711
Abstract: A tool and hardware accessory having base securable to the top cap of a ladder at clamps which are designed to provide universal mounting to most ladder caps. A tray is pivotally mounted to the accessory base at hinge sections and when deployed extends forwardly and slightly upwardly to accommodate weighty items, such as paint cans, without being depressed below a generally horizontal position. The tray has compartments for hardware items and may include removable organizer containers for small parts. A magnetic element, such as a flexible magnetic pad, may be provided to retain small parts.

  • Patent number: 6997800
Abstract: A roof ventilation system including a prefabricated ridge vent assembly with sidewalls secured at spacers. The spacers support a top cap spaced above the sidewalls which defines a net free ventilation area. The ventilation area is screened. The ridge vent assembly is maintained by mounting blocks which are secured to the ridge vent by connectors such as 2?×4? lumber sections. The system may also utilize eave vent assemblies having a screened ventilation area. The eave vent assembly has a lip to support a trim piece such as a fascia board.

  • Patent number: 6966471
Abstract: A luggage rack for a motorcycle having a shape conforming to the existing backrest on a sissy bar. The luggage rack is mounted to the existing mounting plate at brackets which may be selectively adjusted to provide the desired friction fit. The rack can be pivoted between an upright, stored position and a horizontal use position. In the stored position a stop associated with the brackets engage a portion of the rack to maintain it in a horizontal position. In one embodiment, a magnet on the rack exerts a force to retain the rack in an upright position against the sissy bar.
