Patent number: 4354265Abstract: In a telephone system for digitalized speech transmission additional digital information is transferred without disturbing a speech communication in progress. At the sending side, time slots for the transmission of the additional digital information are created by momentarily suppressing the digital speech signals transmitted on a digital channel and, at the receiving side, the digital information is extracted from the time slots and replaced by digital signals which constitute a continuous amplitude function starting from the amplitude value which was transmitted immediately before the time slot. To distinguish the additional digital information from speech signals a special identifying code is added at the sending side. The speech transmission may employ either Delta Modulation or Pulse Code Modulation.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1979Date of Patent: October 12, 1982Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M EricssonInventors: Karl F. Patent number: 4351061Abstract: A method and an apparatus for phase synchronization in a synchronous data transmission system, which transmits a binary pulse train from a transmitter to a receiver by means of an amplitude-modulated carrier. The modulation is of the so-called single-side band type (SSBAM) and the modulating signal which has been derived from the input data flow consists of superimposed pulses of so-called Partial-Response Class 4 type. The receiver clock generator consists of a digital phase-locked loop (TK, FD) controlled by level crossovers in the baseband signal, in which there is arranged between the phase detector (FD) and the oscillator (TK) a sorting circuit (SD), which sorts out and passes through to the oscillator (TK) only such information related to detected level crossovers of a predetermined first category. Further, carrier regeneration is provided by a second phase-locked loop (CR) in series with a phase correction circuit (FK).Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1980Date of Patent: September 21, 1982Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M EricssonInventors: Jan S. Patent number: 4349913Abstract: A method and an arrangement for reducing the demand on the number of transferred bits when transferring PCM information. Polarity and amplitude information are transmitted from a transmitter side to a receiver side, expressed by binary code words, while a chosen upper limit in the amplitude code word indicates transition to a segment having a higher number and a chosen lower limit in the amplitude code word indicates transition to a segment having a lower number. The limit values are transmitted to the receiver side and are used on the receiver side as well as on the transmitter side for generating counting signals. The counting signals are registered on the transmitter side and the receiver side for giving a value which expresses the associated segment. By means of the registered value, a control signal is generated in order to increase and decrease respectively the segment value of the transmitted signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1979Date of Patent: September 14, 1982Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M EricssonInventor: Karl I. Patent number: 4347501Abstract: In an installation for transmitting alarms, preferably in connection with attacks on persons, and for locating the alarm sender, there is at least one portable alarm sender 2 sending an alarm to a central alarm receiver (3) by radio. The senders each contain a memory (24) for a code unique to their position in the installation. The code is automatically set by fixed transmitters (1) having a small range, which transmit it electromagnetically, especially inductively, to the sender (2), the code being unique to the location of a transmitter and stored in the sender memory. When fixed transmitters (1) are arranged so close together that their unique codes are difficult to separate in the sender (2), a dummy transmitter (56) is arranged to prevent alteration of a code already stored in the memory (24) of the alarm sender, as long as the sender (2) is close to the dummy transmitter (56).Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1980Date of Patent: August 31, 1982Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M EricssonInventor: Dag Akerberg
