Abstract: Techniques are described for managing messages with a mobile phone. First user input is received that indicates a first active call record from a list of active call records. In response to the first user input, a call is initiated from a mobile device to a particular target indicated by the first active call record. After completion of the call, the mobile device prompts for second user input to update the status of the list of active call records. In one embodiment, a second active call record is created for the connection in response to the second user input. The second active call record may automatically populated with notes from the first active call record.
Abstract: The invention is a slidable fastening device that is sewn into a garment and replaces a static seam of the garment. The fastener has a male portion and a female portion that are permanently engaged with each other and slide up and down with respect to each other. The fastener is hidden from view such that a casual observer does not notice that the static seam has been replaced.
Abstract: The invention is an apparatus and method for reducing the drag that a vessel hull experiences when moving through the water by interposing air bubbles between the hull and the stream of water that the vessel is moving through. The invention delivers compressed air to the bottom of the vessel without the need for a high energy air compressor.
Abstract: The invention is a heating and cooling system for portable pet living space and is able to efficiently heat and cool the pet because it heats and cools both the air surrounding the pet and the surfaces upon which the pet lays.
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention are directed toward a multi-zone audio distribution, amplification, and control system for use with structured wiring systems. Various embodiments of the invention allow audio signals received from multiple input sources to be selectively distributed to multiple zones in a home or building over a structured wiring system.
Abstract: The invention is a method and composition for polishing a wet surface. The invention is a water based composition for polishing wet surfaces and a method of applying the water based composition to polish wet surfaces. The method does not include a dry to haze or buffing step in order to achieve a lasting high gloss shine on the polished surface.
Abstract: The present invention is a mechanical ride that simulates riding an actual rodeo bull. simulator, which provides a rider a simulation of an rodeo bull ride. The ride includes a track, a sled to move the ride along the track, and a mechanical body affixed to the sled. The mechanical body includes a plurality of actuators and motors that simulate the bucking, rotating, lunging, pitching, and tilting movement of an actual rodeo bull. The simulated movements are performed at the same time as the ride moving along the track.
Abstract: A tile bar for use in association with a graphical user interface associated with at least one operating system is disclosed. The tile bar includes a plurality of tiles indicative of one or more of an application, a file, a window, a data, and an outcome, an identifying tile among the plurality of tiles, wherein the identifying tile is uniquely indicative of at least one of a user preference and user information of a user logged in to the graphical user interface, and wherein the identifying tile is adjacent to at least one tile of the plurality of tiles, and a scroll for presenting ones of the plurality of tiles not immediately viewable to the user. The tile bar further includes each of said plurality of tiles comprises at least one of rotating about an axis, focused by a magnifying cursor, increased vividness, and blurring upon placement of a cursor provided by the graphical user interface at a predetermined proximation to each tile.
Abstract: Systems and methods for the security and remote monitoring of computers are described. A computer monitoring system is provided which includes a computer hard drive, a thin client communicatively connecting a plurality of software associated with the computer hard drive with at least one remote virtual server, a central monitoring station communicatively connected to the thin client, and at least one BIOS monitor, at least partially resident locally to the computer hard drive, wherein the central monitoring station enforces at least one action upon execution of at least one alert from the at least one BIOS monitor.
Abstract: Various embodiments of this invention disclose a mattress with two cover layers that enclose a spring grid array core wherein the springs are mounted back to back on a single grid support. The spring array is surrounded by a frame layer and is divisible into separate recumbence areas by supportive flanges.
Abstract: The invention is a magnetic levitation device that has a pair of permanent magnets or electromagnets, which are used to create a large constant magnetic field on a horizontal plane between two magnetic poles. An object is levitated between the two magnets and is kept within the horizontal magnetic field by an electromagnet that is controlled by a servomechanism.
Abstract: The present invention is a method for treating contaminated water streams resulting from the production of coal-bed-methane. The method of treating contaminated water streams typically includes the steps of: providing a reaction vessel that contains a bed of weak acid cation ion exchange resin beads; introducing the contaminated water stream to the reaction vessel; allowing for the exchange of hydrogen ions for sodium ions; removing the ion exchanged treated water from the reaction vessel; stopping the stream of contaminated water; and regenerating the weak cation exchange resin.
Abstract: A thermostat apparatus for controlling a heat pump with supplemental resistive heating as typically contained in a Packaged Terminal Air Conditioning (PTAC) unit is disclosed which provides improvements in energy management by reducing energy usage as much as possible within user guidelines when the conditioned space served by the PTAC is not occupied. A reduced setpoint temperature determination is based upon measurements of thermal response within the conditioned space to application of supplemental or resistive heat, and utilizes supplemental or resistive heat in achieving a quick recovery when people enter the conditioned space, thus enabling a more reduced setpoint temperature when the space is not occupied.
Abstract: Disclosed is a ceiling fan cover for protecting a ceiling fan while the ceiling fan is not in use. The invention comprises a cover, preferably of a semi-waterproof, vinyl material, that encloses an indoor or outdoor ceiling fan. The invention also includes an attachment means, preferably a zipper, to close the cover around the ceiling fan's blades and a drawstring to tighten up the cover around the top of the fan. The invention could have an additional drawstring to cinch the middle. An alternative embodiment would be made of a plastic, disposable material, for use by painters to protect ceiling fans. When the cover is in place, it prevents ceiling fan blades from spinning in the wind or swinging up and breaking off, and also protects the fan from dust and debris.
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention is directed toward an alignment device for soldering roughed-in pipes for plumbing applications that assists plumbers by acting as a third hand for the plumber. One portion of the device removably attaches to a plumbing wall-strap while another portion of the device holds one or more pipes perpendicularly in place, in order that a plumber may solder the pipes in place without the need for assistants or additional tools.
