  • Patent number: 7616644
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and a system that operates in accordance with the method to set up a TCP session between a MS and an end point destination via a wireless network and the Internet. The method includes sending a split TCP connection request from the MS to a PEP located in the network, where the split TCP request includes information for identifying a network address of the MS and a network address of the end point destination. The method further includes, in response to receiving the split TCP connection request from the MS, establishing a split TCP connection that includes a wireless TCP (WTCP) connection between the MS and the PEP, and a TCP connection at least part way between the PEP and the end point destination. In one embodiment the end point destination is an application server that is coupled to the Internet, and the TCP connection is established between the PEP and the application server.

  • Patent number: 7612559
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for continuous position detection using a contact-free detection technology. An arrangement includes a magnetic field source and magnetometer sensor, where the magnetic field source is adapted to generate a first magnetic field density and a sequential second magnetic field density determined by said magnetometer sensor. The sign of the determined first magnetic field generated by said magnetic field source is opposite than the second determined magnetic field generated by said magnetic field source. In addition the arrangement is adapted to compensate an offset drifting caused by the magnetic field environment and to determine a distance between the magnetic field source and magnetometer sensor based on the difference of the first magnetic field density and the sequential second magnetic field density determined by said magnetometer sensor.

  • Patent number: 7614006
Abstract: The present invention concerns methods and apparatus for implementing the ability to transpose rows and columns of a table displayed in a graphical user interface of a computer system. In embodiments of the invention, at least one in-line table row and column control is incorporated in the table; when selected, the in-line table row and column control causes information originally arrayed in columns to be displayed in rows, and causes information originally arrayed in rows to be displayed in columns. In other embodiments of the present invention, a user can select subsets of rows or columns for display in a transposed table with a filter function that operates in combination with the in-line table row and column control. After a filter selection is made, information contained in rows and columns not selected is filtered out and only information in selected rows and columns will be displayed in the transposed table.

  • Patent number: 7609751
Abstract: A first node initiating communications with a second node already in a secure network sends a discovery burst having a preamble portion and a payload portion. The preamble portion is sent at a varying frequency between high and low thresholds that are reflective of Doppler uncertainty between the nodes. The second node continuously listens at a frequency, termed an acquisition frequency. A data sequence in the preamble portion, known to the second node, is received and used to determine the receive instant in the preamble portion, and thereby compare against the known frequency ramp to determine the frequency at which the payload portion will be received. Preferably, the first node varies the preamble portion between thresholds more than once within the time span of a single preamble portion, and the preamble and payload portions are spread with different spreading codes. The preamble portion may also be disguised with noise generated by the first node.

  • Patent number: 7606292
Abstract: A parallel correlator and method includes temporarily storing in a series of P sequence registers, each of length R1, serial bit-sequences of a code of length N=P*R1. In a first-level of processing, certain unique bit sequences are inverted to reduce the number of unique bit sequences by half. Identical bit-sequences are then combined and temporarily stored in a first-level sub-accumulation register. Alternatively, bit sequences differing by only one bit may be combined in a common first-level sub-accumulation register. Further levels of similar processing may be imposed, where each subsequent level taps and inverts only a portion of the bits in the above level of processing, thereby reducing the number of unique bit sequences. Finally, all negative energy is combined in one register position, inverted, and added to all positive energy in the other register positions.

  • Patent number: 7606319
Abstract: In a JE, spread spectrum communication MIMO system where a demultiplexed packet is transmitted over multiple streams, two versions of a single CQI are disclosed: generalized SNR or constrained mutual information CMI between the transmitted and received chip vectors. In the receiver, the CMI is constrained so that filtering is suboptimal. The filter bank is preferably LMMSE or MVDR filters that convert the multi-path channel into a single path channel so that joint sequence detection is unnecessary. Detection is by a per-Walsh code architecture, wherein a plurality of Walsh-code specific detectors in parallel detect bits or symbols from the single-channel chips after downconverting chip to symbols. Link to system mapping is realizable using the disclosed CQI for a JE MIMO system in that the CQI or related information is returned to the transmitter, which adapts coding rate and/or modulation for the channel as represented by the CQI.

  • Patent number: 7603107
Abstract: A communication system includes first and second radiotelephones capable of communicating with a telecommunications network. The second radiotelephone is capable of remotely acquiring at least some of the identification information of the first radiotelephone and is further capable of acquiring connection parameters from the first radiotelephone. The communication parameters may include information relating to any of: the strongest radio channel; available frequency bands; and radio channels in use. The acquired parameters are applied to effect a connection to the network, without going through channel searching procedures. This overcomes the need to physically transfer subscriber identification modules (SIMs).

  • Patent number: 7602835
Abstract: A correlator despreads a P/N long code constructed from two or more constituent codes A, B, C having N, M and L elements respectively. In a third stage, L filter taps decorrelate elements of the third constituent code from the input received signal, leaving elements of code AB. The outputs of the third stage delay line are summed and input into a second stage delay line having M filter taps to decorrelate the elements of the second constituent code from the input to the second stage, leaving elements of code A. The outputs of the second stage delay line are summed and input to a first stage delay line having N filter taps. The output of the first stage delay line is summed and input into a shift register. An energy peak in the shift register indicates the phase of the P/N elements in the register is proper.

  • Patent number: 7599443
Abstract: In a wireless MIMO communication system, for N symbols of a frame of information, allocating N1 symbols to a stronger eigen sub-channel and N2 symbols to a weaker eigen sub-channel, where N1>N2; determining a probability of reception error when transmitting the N2 symbols through the weaker eigen sub-channel for an auxiliary signal-to-noise ratio; solving for a quality of service QoS of the weaker eigen sub-channel and if the QoS is less than a desired QoS, decreasing the value of N and repeating allocating symbols, determining the probability of reception error and solving for the QoS. Another aspect includes asymmetrically allocating spreading codes to a stronger eigen sub-channel and to a weaker eigen sub-channel such that the stronger eigen sub-channel is allocated more spreading codes than the weaker eigen sub-channel; and transmitting all systematic bits of turbo coded information over the stronger eigen sub-channel.

  • Patent number: 7600116
Abstract: In a communication system wherein a serving controller may be configured to support a first security mechanism and at least one other security mechanism. A request for registration is sent from a user equipment to the serving controller where after it is determined in a second controller that the user equipment supports another security mechanism than the first security mechanism. The second controller may then send to the serving controller an indication that another security mechanism than the first security mechanism is used by the user equipment. The serving controller then sends a challenge in accordance with the other security mechanism to the user equipment.
