  • Patent number: 4677936
Abstract: The progressively movable holding device comprises two link plate chains (2, 3) which can be separately tightened and loosened in respect to each other and to the workpiece (1) they hold and which are guided by articulated adjusting members (4) at movable distance from each other, wherein the link plate chains (2, 3) are constructed in a mechanical assembly technique easily adaptable to the dimensions of the workpieces (1) by changing the numbers of link plates (5, 6) and which also allow the circulation on a rail section (26) integrally formed on one of the link plate chains (2, 3) of a bracket-type carriage (10) which can serve both as working platform and as implement carrier, for instance, for sandblast pistols. By means of a control and locking device and energy supply designed according to the task to be performed, the holding device can be reversed progressively and by remote control across its main direction and is also easily adaptable to changes in the contour of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4677520
Abstract: A protective device for integrated circuits and the like which protects the circuit from static charges and induced voltages resulting from static charges and otherwise. Electrical connections are made to the leads of the circuit terminating in non-contacting relationship within a chamber filled with an ionizable gas. A conductive material is spaced equally on the terminations and connected to the lowest potential of the circuit, typically ground. Over voltages from static charges and the like cause the gas to ionize and discharge the over voltage. A second shield of conductive material is disposed between the gas filled chamber and the circuit and, in turn, connected to an independent point within the chamber. Fields produced as a result of a static discharge, or otherwise, which otherwise would induce over voltages into the circuit cause an induction voltage into the shield material which voltage is then discharged through the ionizable gas.

  • Patent number: 4673862
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for recharging a chargeable battery for a motor vehicle, a machine, a motor boat or the like. As the charging voltage there is used the output voltage from a charging generator which is connected to the battery, the output voltage being varied by controlling the field of the generator. The charging takes place by means of repeated charging cycles each of which consists of a charging period and a test period when the battery is loaded and the charging from the generator to the battery is disconnected. The value of the charging voltage during a charging period is determined on the basis of the test result during the immediately preceding test period. According to the invention the battery voltage is compared to a pre-determined voltage during each test period.

  • Patent number: 4671377
Abstract: In all-wheel drives having a clutch (12) automatically form-locking upon speed or torque uniformity, the driver can keep them engaged or disengaged as desired, for instance, during the actuation of the service brake (13) or during special uses, or when moving in reverse, and thereby automatic disengagement is prevented and the action of the motor brake over all wheels (10,11) can concomitantly be ensured. The adjusting device (14) used therefor can be directly designed as a shaft brake and directly assembled with the clutch (12) so that a twofold use is achieved and the brake (13) of the vehicle is protected (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 4667763
Abstract: A vehicle, in particular an agricultural one, for instance a combine harvester, has two axles (1, 2) drivable from two hydraulic motors (3, 4) switched in parallel, of which the one, non-steerable axle (1) is constantly drivable and the drive of the second steerable axle (2) may be connected or disconnected by means of clutch (11). In order to achieve a compact, stable and vibration-free auxiliary drive of the second steerable axle (2), the clutch (11), a planetary transmission (12) and a bevel drive pinion of an angle transmission (13) are arranged coaxially one behind the other between the associated hydraulic motor (4) and the axle (2). Due to this arrangement the hydraulic motor (4) of the second steerable axle (2) may be approximately half the size of the hydraulic motor (3) of the constantly driven axle (1). The clutch (11) and the planetary transmission (12) are combined to form a compact constructional unit (26) which is flange-connected to the axle housing ( 27) of the second, steerable axle (2).

  • Patent number: 4668091
Abstract: The present invention relates to a gas flow cell for spectrophotometric analysis of chemical compounds, consisting of a longish preferably cylindrical body (1) with a longitudinal central channel (2) which at the ends of the body (1) is limited by mutually parallel windows (3, 4) which are tightfitting against the channel (2) and transparent for the radiation used at the analysis. The channel (2) communicates at one end with connections (7, 8) for carrier gas and for injection of compounds and has at the other end an outlet (10) for the compounds and the carrier gas. Significant for the invention is that parallel with and at a distance from the mentioned channel (2) runs a second channel (11) serving for separation and connected between the connections (7, 8) and said end of the first mentioned channel (2). In this channel (11) there is a replaceable column tube (12) with filling of known composition.

  • Patent number: 4667527
Abstract: A spring-loaded brake may be modulated by an integrated brake-actuating cylinder of almost unchanged constructional length, arranged radially above a spring-packet which acts in a direction contrary to the lifting force of the cylinder. The brake still has the automatic emergency stopping function of the parking brake principle. The spring packet acts against a brake piston which is acted upon by pressure at both ends by cylinders which are equipped with gaskets for sealing them both against each other and against the transmission housing. The brake discs and splash lubrication of the transmission are in communication via oil passage sections. The brake housing is designed as an assembly built into the transmission and its cover flange may be equipped with a shaft seal for fitting a shaft extension to a drive shaft. The brake hub body can be shaped as a shaft flange which brake hub body can also be the hub of a gear wheel.
