Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for providing application isolation to one or more applications and their associated resources. The system may include one or more isolated environments including application files and executables, and one or more interception layers intercepting access to system resources and interfaces. Further, the system may include an interception database maintaining mapping between the system resources inside the one or more isolated environments and outside, and a host operating system. The one or more applications may be isolated from other applications and the host operating system while running within the one or more isolated environments.
Abstract: An apparatus for movable weight-compensating suspension of a focusing objective of a laser system comprises a force generation device to generate a counterforce component G which counteracts the weight of the focusing objective, a transmission device which transmits the counterforce component G onto the focusing objective and permits upward/downward compensatory movement of the focusing objective, in such a way that in the case of an upward/downward compensatory movement of the focusing objective, an optical axis (O) of the focusing objective maintains at least its orientation in space, and preferably its position in space.
Abstract: In a fast active scanning wireless network apparatus and method for quick determination of available access points, information about a candidate set of available access points is obtained, and a candidate access point is identified from the candidate set. A mobile station then queries the candidate access point with a probe request that designates the candidate access point as a sole responder. The probe request prevents other access points from contending for the medium of communication between the mobile station and the designated sole responder access point by excluding the attempt by other access points to transmit probe responses. The apparatus and method thus increases the probability of a fast and successful probe request from the mobile station and subsequent response from the designated access point. The designated access point may also respond with a probe response of high priority, preventing intervention of communication.
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a flap in the cornea of an eye (10) exhibits the following: a laser radiation source for generating laser radiation, means for shaping and guiding the laser radiation in relation to the cornea (20) in such a manner that in the cornea an incision (28) arises which enables a folding of the flap (26) upwards from the cornea. In the process the incision (28) is guided in the hinge region (22) of the cornea in such a way that an undercut arises under the hinge region (22). By this means it is ensured that, in particular in the case of an fs LASIK, the intervention into the stroma is effected substantially symmetrically in relation to a central axis of the cornea (20), so that no undesirable deformations of the cornea result post-operatively by reason of the intraocular pressure.
Abstract: Non-volatile memories can have data retention problems at high temperatures reducing the reliability of such devices. A non-volatile memory cell is described having a magnet, a ferromagnetic switching element and heating means. The non-volatile memory cell has a set position having a low resistance state and a reset position having a high resistance state. The non-volatile memory is set by applying a magnetic field to the switching element causing it to move to the set position. The non-volatile memory cell is reset by the heating means which causes the switching element to return to the reset position. The switching element is formed from a ferromagnetic material or a ferromagnetic shape memory alloy. This structure can have improved reliability at higher temperatures than previously described non-volatile memories.

The patterned mask layer includes a first opening having a first width W1 and a second opening having a second width W2 less than the first width. The patterned mask layer defines a multi-fin device region and an inter-device region, wherein the inter-device region is aligned with the first opening; and the multi-fin device region includes at least one intra-device region being aligned with the second opening.
Abstract: A femtocell network uses idle resource blocks of a data frame to reduce interference by spreading the resource blocks of the users over the available spectrum. Spreading may be achieved by repeating the transmission using a number of the resource block groups. As a result, (a) more robustness is obtained against interference; (b) transmission power levels may be decreased because of the spreading, resulting in reducing interference between nearby femtocells and between a macrocell and a femtocell. Other methods of spreading such a frequency or time slot hopping may also be used.
Abstract: Wireless access efficiency is improved in a multi-hop, multiple-flow network by optimizing multi-flows over the entire network using joint routing and traffic-shaping techniques at intermediate hops. Even though the joint routing and traffic-shaping techniques may adversely affect flows at some hops, when considered over multiple hops (for a given flow) and over multiple flows (for a given hop or number of hops), significant performance may be achieved for all flows. System performance is achieved by controlling the routing paths of multiple flows in a multi-hop, multi-flow wireless network, and applying traffic shaping in a systematic way, rather than relying on an opportunistic (i.e., randomly or independently optimized) approach.

Abstract: A high speed handheld power drill includes a housing with a motor, a chuck rotationally driven by the motor, and a drill bit clamped in the chuck. A pressure foot is mounted on the housing for coaxial rotation about the drill bit and lockable in a selectable angular position relative to the housing. A drill guide is slidably disposed within the pressure foot at an outer end thereof and biased for coaxial sliding movement between the drill bit and pressure foot. A vacuum cuttings pickup and coolant fluid delivery tool is coupled to the drill guide and arranged to deliver coolant fluid to the drill bit and to remove drill cuttings and coolant fluid and vapor therefrom during drilling. A coolant fluid reservoir is coupled to the drill motor housing and adapted to deliver selectably metered amounts of coolant fluid to the cuttings pickup and coolant delivery tool during drilling.

Abstract: In one embodiment, more than one surveillance cameras cover different viewing zones. The different viewing zones have different priority levels depending upon the importance of what is being covered by the surveillance camera. A controller detects the failure of a surveillance camera and directs a camera covering a lower priority viewing zone to cover the viewing zone of the failed camera. A method for the operation of the surveillance cameras is also provided.
Abstract: A semiconductor storage device includes a semiconductor substrate having a first region of a first conductivity type in between respective regions of an opposite conductivity type, at least the first region being covered by a first dielectric layer, a polysilicon floating gate placed on the first dielectric layer over the first region, said floating gate being surrounded by an insulating material; and a metal control gate structure adjacent to the polysilicon floating gate, the metal control gate structure being capacitively coupled to said floating gate. Abstract: An integrated circuit device and method for fabricating the integrated circuit device is disclosed. The integrated circuit device includes a substrate, a diffusion source, and a lightly doped diffusion region in contact with a conductive layer. A junction of the lightly doped diffusion region with the conductive layer forms a Schottky region. An annealing process is performed to form the lightly doped diffusion region. The annealing process causes dopants from the diffusion source (for example, an n-well disposed in the substrate) of the integrated circuit device to diffuse into a region of the substrate, thereby forming the lightly doped diffusion region.

Abstract: A column buffer for use with a pixel cell array includes an amplifier coupled to three read-out circuits in parallel providing a signal corresponding to accumulated photon-generated charge in a pixel cell plus noise, a reset level plus noise, and a pedestal level, respectively. These three signals are used to generate an ultra-low noise signal Di=Si?Pi-1?G*(Ri?Ri-1), wherein S is the sampled signal, P is the pedestal level, R is the reset level, and G is a gain associated with a pixel cell, and wherein i is a frame number greater than 0. The three signals can be read-out simultaneously. In another embodiment, the three signals are obtained from a column buffer having only one output. In this case, the signals are read-out sequentially.

Abstract: Methods of fabricating an integrated circuit device, such as a thin film resistor, are disclosed. An exemplary method includes providing a semiconductor substrate; forming a resistive layer over the semiconductor substrate; forming a hard mask layer over the resistive layer, wherein the hard mask layer includes a barrier layer over the resistive layer and a dielectric layer over the barrier layer; and forming an opening in the hard mask layer that exposes a portion of the resistive layer.
Abstract: A method of inspecting a photomask includes directing radiation from a radiation source onto a photomask so that at least a portion of the radiation is transmitted through the photomask. A first photomask image is detected from the transmitted portion of the radiation transmitted through the photomask and perceptible at a second side of the photomask. A second photomask image is created by applying an exposure simulation model to a photomask design. A difference between the first photomask image and the second photomask image is then determined.
