Abstract: An audio-visual equipment station comprises a podium portion and a projector support portion. The podium portion includes a base member, a front wall, and a pair of upstanding, spaced apart side walls, each side wall having inclined top edges. A planar top surface is hingedly connected to the front wall, allowing the top surface to be pivoted from a rest position in which it is supported on the inclined top edges of the side walls to a nearly vertical position in which the surface may be used as an easel. A locking bar is provided for locking the surface in the nearly vertical position. In addition, an adjustment bar is provided for supporting the surface in a variety of positions between the rest position and the nearly vertical position. The projector support portion of the equipment station includes a base member, which is a lateral extension of the base member of the podium portion.
Abstract: An apparatus for containing and cooling high-density integrated circuit packages includes a housing in which the circuit package is sealingly mounted in an internal chamber of said housing. The chamber is at least partially filled with a plurality of thermally conductive spheroids which are biased into thermally conductive contact with each other and with the integrated circuit package to maximize the heat exchange surface. The apparatus includes an inlet and an outlet for passing a dielectric immersion coolant through the chamber in direct heat exchange relationship with the spheroids and with the high-density integrated circuit package.
Abstract: A filter assembly for an automotive air handling system includes a frame adapted for demountable attachment to the engine side of the automotive firewall, and a filter slidably received in the frame. Springs are provided at the bottom of the frame for ejecting the filter partially out of the frame so that air can bypass the filter when the filter is clogged. A latchable door covers the access opening of the frame, holding the filter down against the bias of the springs until clogging is detected by a pressure-sensitive diaphragm. The diaphragm controls a release mechanism which unlatches the door when clogging of the filter causes an increase in the differential pressure across the filter.
Abstract: A marker buoy releasing mechanism for marking the location of a sunken boat includes an air tight housing having a differential pressure switch mounted therein for sensing the pressure within the housing and externally thereof. When the differential pressure sensed by the switch increases to a predetermined value, indicative of sinking of the boat, the switch will close to complete the electric circuit between a battery and an electrically operated device. When electric power is coupled through the differential pressure switch to the electrically operated device, it will be operated to actuate an inflating mechanism which supplies compressed gas to an inflatable marker buoy which floats to the surface of the water on the end of a tethering line.
Abstract: A drywell structure for receiving drain water from a ground surface and directing it to subterranean levels for leaching the water into the subterranean soil is provided with a water filtration and intake assembly which filters silt and other foreign matter from the received drain water prior to its being directed to the subterranean soil.
Abstract: A weed extracting tool includes an elongated shaft having a handle at its upper end and a cutting head at its lower end. The cutting head includes a tubular housing and a semi-circular blade depending from the housing. An ejector device is reciprocable within the tubular housing for clearing weeds and soil from the cutting head. The ejector is biased to an extended position by means of a compression spring. A latching device holds the ejector in a retracted position against the bias of the spring.
Abstract: A rectal speculum assembly for use with a colonic lavage machine includes a speculum and an obturator. The speculum includes an unobstructed main tube for directing fluids into and out of a patient's rectum, and an inlet tube for injecting treatment fluid into the main tube. The inlet tube intersects the main tube, forming an obtuse angle with respect to the proximal end of the main tube, so that inlet fluids are initially directed away from the patient's rectum, and thus do not interfere with fluided waste matter being discharged therefrom. In addition, a thumb rest is provided on the main body of the speculum for holding the speculum steady while the obturator is removed and a waste removal hose is connected.
Abstract: A bottom cushion for use in a seat of the type used in situations where an occupant could be subjected to spine damaging injury resulting from rapid vertical acceleration or deceleration. The seat cushion includes a frame mounted above the rigid seat pan of the seat with an air-permeable, flexible membrane suspendingly carried in the frame. The seat cushion is provided with a membrane adjusting mechanism by which an occupant applies tension to the membrane to lift his or her posterior above the seat pan for comfort reasons, and has a vertical displacement limiting mechanism which for safety reasons prevents the occupant from lifting the membrane and his or her posterior an excessive distance above the set pan.
Abstract: A book rest for supporting books or magazines in an opened position to facilitate the use thereof by persons seated at a desk, library table or the like. The book rest includes a base from which a prop structure extends in a leaning back attitude and the prop structure is configured to define an included angle which opens toward the front of the base. The base and prop structure cooperate to support the book or magazine in a propped up position against the front surface of the prop structure and a pair of hook-like devices are associated with the prop structure to releasably hold the pages in a desired opened position.
Abstract: A water filtering system for connection to at least one water supply to be filtered including a filter tank containing cartridge-type filter media with the tank being especially configured to provide an evenly distributed water flow through the filter media for efficient water filtration. The system further includes a special plumbing system and controls therefore for establishing a two stage filter cleaning operation wherein water is impingingly directed onto the filter media for flushing of the filter media and the filter tank in the first stage of the filter cleaning operation and water is directed through the filter media in a backwash direction in the second stage of the filter cleaning operation.
Abstract: A floor pan for use in the cabinet of an evaporative cooler is formed with an elevated central platform which is surrounded by an endless upwardly opening trough for containing the operating water supply of the evaporative cooler. The floor pan is configured so that the endless trough is disposed below the wettable pads of the evaporative cooler so as to catch unevaporated water returning from the pads to the water supply, and the trough is sized so as to be as small as possible to facility periodic draining and replacement of the water supply and otherwise reduce water induced damage of the cooler.
Abstract: A pump for heating high viscosity oil and elevating it to a ground level from a subterranean level. The pump, which is preferrably of the type which produces and is operated by sonic pressure waves of special character, includes a ground level generator for producing pump operating forces that are transmitted to the subterranean level for reciprocally operating a subterranean heating and oil elevating unit which has a special magnetic piston reciprocal in a non-permanently magnetizable housing for generating heat and further has a reciprocal operating mechanism for intaking the heated oil and elevating it to the ground level.
