Abstract: A method for fabricating trenches for storage capacitors of DRAM semiconductor memories by plasma etching semiconductor substrates, includes fabricating a partial trench region with a cross-sectional profile deviating from essentially constant toward a larger cross-sectional profile. A surface of the partial trench region is passivated and the etching/passivating step is continued periodically, in order to fabricate further partial trench regions, until a predetermined overall trench depth has been reached.
Abstract: A method for the controlled power activation of an electromechanical braking system in a motor vehicle where the maximum power available is less than the nominal capacity includes the step of activating brake force-generating units of the braking system individually or in subgroups in succession to one another. The brake force-generating units are in each case activated with a power level corresponding to a portion of the maximum power available. The portion of the maximum power available is sufficient for the individual unit to function at least partially.

Abstract: An operation and maintenance system for a mobile communications network allows to execute a network configuration centrally from a maintenance device of an operation and maintenance center and allows to execute a network configuration peripherally with the aid of a local maintenance terminal which can be connected to a network device of a base station subsystem of the mobile communications network. An access table contains, for each operator authorized for access to the operation and maintenance system, a name entry, a specific operator password to be used by the operator for access via a local maintenance terminal, and information on the extent of the operator's access authorization. The access table is stored in the operation and maintenance center.
Abstract: Nitrate ions are removed from a solution. Such a solution is, in particular, a spent decontamination solution or another spent solution intended for reducing the radioactivity of a metal part. It is provided that the solution, if it comprises a short-chain organic compound, is irradiated with UV light. Otherwise, such a compound is introduced into the solution prior to irradiation. Using the method, the nitrate ions are chemically reduced, forming, for example, N2, N2O, CO2 and H2O.
Abstract: A digital circuit has a signal input terminal and a signal output terminal. The digital circuit additionally has a logic circuit unit, whose input is connected to the signal input terminal and whose output is connected to the signal output terminal via a switching element. Furthermore, it has a filter unit, whose input is connected to the signal input terminal and whose output is connected to a control input of the switching element. The filter unit serves for suppressing glitches on a digital signal present at its input.

Abstract: A method for nondestructively reading memory cells of an MRAM memory, which includes steps of: determining a standard resistance of a memory cell at a voltage at which a resistance of the memory cell is independent of a stored content of the memory cell; determining an actual resistance of the memory cell at a voltage at which the resistance of the memory cell is dependent on the stored content of the memory cell; obtaining a normalized actual resistance of the memory cell by dividing the actual resistance by the standard resistance; obtaining a comparison result by comparing the normalized actual resistance with a reference value; and detecting the stored content of the memory cell dependent on the comparison result.
Abstract: The valve seat is located between an inlet opening and an outlet opening, with a connecting stub against which an elastic membrane presses. The membrane is disposed above a cavity and formed by a part of a polysilicon layer. When a medium flows onto the side of the membrane facing the connecting stub, the membrane is lifted off the connecting stub and is pulled into the cavity, so that the medium can flow through the valve. The membrane can be stiffened by a stamp-like attachment, in order to ensure that the valve opens uniformly.
Abstract: A field-effect transistor has a semiconductor body with a main area, in which at least one source zone and one drain zone are introduced and which is provided with a gate electrode isolated from a channel region disposed between a source zone and a drain zone by an insulator layer. In the field-effect transistor, the source zone, the drain zone and the channel region are disposed in walls of a respective trench or recess formed in the semiconductor body.
Abstract: A nonconductive substrate forms a strip or a panel on which a multiplicity of carrier elements is formed, in particular for installation in a chipcard. One side of the substrate is provided with conductive contact surfaces which lie within an outer contour line that determines the size of a carrier element. The other side of the substrate has conductor structures within the outer contour line which form at least contact fields for at least one coil to be contacted and for at least one semiconductor chip. The substrate has cut-outs outside each outer contour line, through which it is possible to access coil terminals of the semiconductor chip for testing purposes from the contact-surface side, as long as the carrier element is still in the strip or in the panel.

Abstract: An apparatus produces intense pressure waves as shock waves for technical and preferably medical applications, especially for lithotripsy and/or pain therapy. Acoustic waves of high energy density are produced through the use of pressure pulsations. The pressure waves are produced by briefly heating a conductive electrolyte, whereby electric energy is converted directly and very largely without losses with the aid of an electric pulse for the purpose of heating up the electrolyte. The apparatus includes two electrodes which enclose the electrolyte and are controlled by a power pulse generator for outputting sound waves into a sound propagation medium.
Abstract: The novel method synchronizes an electronic device for monitoring the operation of a microprocessor (watchdog) with the microprocessor when the microprocessor is run up from a quiescent mode to an operating mode. The synchronization is effected by a trigger signal that is transmitted from the microprocessor to the monitoring device and that signals the operational availability of the microprocessor. The monitoring device, in order to receive the trigger signals, temporally toggles between a CLOSED window status, in which a trigger signal cannot be detected by the monitoring device, and an OPEN window status, in which the received trigger signal brings about synchronization between the microprocessor and the monitoring device. The microprocessor watchdog device has a trigger signal input which toggles, in a clocked manner, between a disabled position (CLOSED window) and an enabled position (OPEN window). The trigger signal is received during the OPEN window.
Abstract: A gas turbine and a method for operating a gas turbine includes a combustion chamber, a turbine having rows of blades, an air compressor, a combustion-air line for feeding compressed air into the combustion chamber, a fuel supply unit, at least one fuel line, at least one cooling-air line. Some of the blades have an interior defining cavities whereby first cavities direct at least a portion of fuel to the combustion chamber through the first cavities at least in a section of the blades, thereby preheating the fuel before being introduced into the combustion chamber. The system defined by the first cavities and the section of the blades is closed relative to an interior of the gas turbine. Second cavities fluidically connect to the air compressor and receive at least a portion of the cooling air for cooling the blades.
Abstract: A connector for detachable connection of one end region of an optical waveguide to another optical waveguide in a plug-in direction includes a ferrule and a housing. The housing has a holding region for holding and guiding the ferrule such that the ferrule is angularly moveable and guided with respect to the plug-in direction. The housing includes a stress-relief region for firmly connecting the optical waveguide to the housing. In the region between the stress-relief region and the holding region, the connector includes at least one curvature-limiting region for limiting the outward bending of the optical waveguide given an angular displacement of the ferrule with respect to the plug-in direction. The curvature-limiting region limits the movement of the optical waveguide and/or the ferrule. Given the configuration of the curvature-limiting region, outward bending of the optical waveguide beyond a maximum permissible curvature is prevented.
Abstract: A container-type sharpener is provided with a generator that can be manually operated or set off and provides an acoustic or visual effect. For this purpose, a shavings-collecting container is configured to be compressible against a flexible restoring pressure and the effect generator is pressure-operated or pressure-controlled.
Abstract: The integrated circuit has a first decoder unit and a second decoder unit D2 connected in parallel with the latter, which decode the input signals fed to them in a different way in each case. The inputs of the second decoder unit D2 are connected to a respective one of the inputs of the first decoder unit D1. n lines L1 to be selected are each connected to a respective one of the outputs of the two decoder units D1, D2. Via their outputs, the first decoder unit D1 and the second decoder unit D2 determine, in a first operating mode and in a second operating mode, respectively, the potentials of the lines L1 to be selected.
