  • Patent number: 6376875
Abstract: A semiconductor component, in particular an EEPROM, and a production method therefor, avoid an avalanche breakdown from a buried channel to a substrate through the use of a special lateral dopant profile in the buried channel, in which a peripheral zone of the buried channel has a higher effective doping than a region located below a tunnel window. The lateral dopant profile is produced through the use of a compensation implantation with dopant atoms of the conduction type opposite that of the buried channel.

  • Patent number: 6375083
Abstract: A smart card with a card carrier on which a data processing circuit and also a connection assembly for the contactless communication of data between the data processing circuit and an external data processing station are provided. In the course of producing a prior art smart card, an integrated circuit is applied to a card carrier made of plastic. Afterwards, a transmitting/receiving coil connected to corresponding terminals of the integrated circuit is applied along the outer edges of the prior art smart card. In the case of the prior art smart card, the fact that defective prior art smart cards have to be destroyed is disadvantageous. According to the invention, the data processing circuit and the connection assembly are provided in a region of at least one module carrier and the card carrier has a region for accommodating the module carrier. This makes it possible firstly to test the completed module carrier in respect of its proper functioning before it is incorporated into a card carrier.

  • Patent number: 6377559
Abstract: A method for transmitting data between radio stations in a radio communication system includes superimposing first signaling information items with second information items at a transmitting end to form an aggregate signal. The aggregate signal is transmitted in a frequency channel, for distinguishing the first signaling information items and the second information items with the aid of individual fine structures. A received signal is evaluated at a receiving end. Initially an influence of the first signaling information items on the second information items is reduced by a compensation calculation carried out with reference to the received signal. Subsequently, the second information items are detected in the received signal already subjected to the compensation calculation. The method can be used in particular with a TD/CDMA transmission process. A receiver and a mobile station are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6374444
Abstract: A method and appliance for determining the angular position of a laundry drum and a power consumption of an electric motor driving the drum to derive therefrom a laundry weight in the drum includes directly driving the drum with the motor from a lower laundry position to a raised position where a laundry center of gravity is offset from a rotation axis to produce a loading weight from the driving current of the electric motor measured when the raised position is reached. Alternatively or additionally, the drum is turned until the controller detects a power consumption of the electric motor corresponding to a stored maximum current value to derive a weight of the laundry from a signal corresponding to the angular distance. The controller stores a predetermined, defined maximum current value and measures a power consumption of the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 6371064
Abstract: An estimated value is calculated for a disturbing force which occurs as a result of the gas forces acting on the gas exchange valve immediately prior to the opening of the latter. The time profile of the disturbing force resulting at the gas exchange valve after the commencement of opening is estimated from a response of a transfer member to a jump in the disturbing force from the estimated valve to a predetermined value. An actuating signal for the actuator drive is determined as a function of the time profile of the disturbing force.

  • Patent number: 6371360
Abstract: A method for applying brazing material to metal structures is used, in particular, for honeycomb bodies of exhaust gas catalytic converters. The brazing material is applied in the form of a powder and is firmly held to the metal structures through the use of an adhesive material acting as a bonding agent, binder or adhesion promoter. The adhesive material that is used to firmly hold the brazing powder assumes two different states with respect to its adhesive action during the production process of the metal structure. A first state is less adhesive and a second state is more strongly adhesive. The adhesive strength can be selected or adjusted as a function of external conditions, especially temperature. Therefore, at a given time the adhesive material can be put into a state which is suitable for each production step, as a result of which the brazing material quality is increased and the production process is simplified.
