The technique includes: monitoring the power grid by monitoring power demand of a load associated with the stand-alone sub-grid(s) and the power generated by the power generator within each stand-alone sub-grid; automatically determining that a grid configuration change is required for the power grid based on the monitoring; and dynamically reconfiguring the power grid by automatically modifying a number of stand-alone sub-grids in the power grid without interrupting power to the load associated with the stand-alone sub-grid(s) of the power grid. In one implementation, the power grid is a mobile power grid, and the power generator of each stand-alone sub-grid is a portable power generator.

    Abstract: The invention features an image reader and a corresponding method for capturing a sharp distortion free image of a target, such as a one or two-dimensional bar code. In one embodiment, the image reader comprises a two-dimensional CMOS based image sensor array, a timing module, an illumination module, and a control module. The time during which the target is illuminated is referred to as the illumination period. The capture of the image by the image sensor array is driven by the timing module that, in one embodiment, is able to simultaneously expose substantially all of the pixels in the array. The time during which the pixels are collectively activated to photo-convert incident light into charge defines the exposure period for the sensor array. In one embodiment, at least a portion of the exposure period occurs during the illumination period.

    Abstract: A first method for matching skin colors comprises measuring a spectral reflectance curve of an area of skin and determining a blend of pigments to match the skin's color by combining spectral reflectance curves measured for pigments to produce a calculated spectral reflectance curve corresponding to that of the skin. The pigment blend is then used, for example, to pigment a medical prosthesis, so that it matches precisely its wearer's skin. This method avoids the problem of metamerism in which colors that match under a first illumination no longer match under a second illumination. A second method uses a database of pigment blends generated by the first method. The color of an area of skin is measured and a pigment blend is selected from the database that provides a closest match. Apparatus for carrying out such color matching is also provided, together with palettes of suitable pigments for skin color matching.

The condenser fins facilitate cooling and condensing of dielectric fluid vapor generated within the sealed compartment. Within the sealed compartment, multiple thermally conductive condenser fins are interleaved with multiple fluid-boiling fins of a heat spreader coupled to one or more of the electronic components immersed within the dielectric fluid. The interleaved fins facilitate localized cooling and condensing of dielectric fluid vapor within the sealed compartment.
