  • Patent number: 4150269
Abstract: A step-on actuated foot switch is disclosed preferably for use in connection with X-ray examination devices to automatically turn off motor servo drives when an operator's feet are positioned adjacent moving portions of the X-ray examination device. The switch device includes a support plate having a step-on plate suspended above the floor plate and parallel thereto with interposed switching elements which are actuated by relative movement of the two plates. The switch elements are bent spring contact devices which have fulcrum points positioned thereunder about which portions of the spring bend during relative movement of the two plates to break a contact.

  • Patent number: 4150389
Abstract: An erasible programmable read-only memory employing an n-chanel memory FET. A MOSFET is used having a floating memory gate which includes erasing projections ("tongues") on the floating memory gate. One tongue covers the drain and the other tongue covers the source. Erasing occurs bit-wise via the drain-side tongue; erasing word-wise or matrix-wise via the source-side tongue. Bit-wise, word-wise and matrix-wise erasing is obtained as desired. It is applicable for REPROM chips, and in particular, for programmable memories of miniature calculators.

  • Patent number: 4148241
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument incorporates a single integrated circuit chip for performing a variety of logical operations for the production of chords and various accompaniment signals automatically, in response to depression of one or two keys within a related portion of the keyboard of the instrument. A multiplexer is employed, in association with the keyboard, to produce a train of signals in response to depression of one or more keys, and one or more function control switches; certain ones of these signals are used to address a plurality of read only memory devices for the generation of the several components needed for the mode of operation which is selected. In an automatic chord mode, a chord is selected automatically, corresponding to an operated key of the keyboard. The chord components include the root, the third (which may be selectively minored), the fifth, the sixth and the seventh (which can be selected or not).

  • Patent number: 4148821
Abstract: A technique for sulfonating petroleum oil feed stocks which materially increases the extent of reaction between the sulfonatable components present in the feed stock and sulfur trioxide, and yields an improved sulfonated product. The invention provides a method which includes forming a liquid mixture of a petroleum oil feed stock and an organic additive, feeding such mixture to a reaction zone, and contacting the mixture with a reactable sulfur trioxide material. The additive appears to promote continuity of materials during the reaction in such a way that substantially homogeneous product compositions are obtained. The invention also includes the so-attained reaction products. Methods of neutralizing, digesting, purifying and other treatments to improve product utility are taught.

  • Patent number: 4149082
Abstract: In one mode, laminographic images are produced by sequentially pulsing a series of X-ray tubes, and by step-wise shifting of the image field of an image intensifier in an opposite sense so that each image of the desired layer is superimposed at the image intensifier output. The amplitude of the required magnetic deflection of the image intensifier is a function of the depth of the layer, and may be calibrated to represent the length dimension of a selected layer region. In another mode, a transverse sectional image is scanned by progressively increasing the magnetic deflection after each cycling of the X-ray sources, so as to scan at successive depths. With a video camera scanning the image intensifier output, one video line of each field may be stored for each depth, and then read out to display the cross sectional image. By storing different lines for respective different depths, oblique sections may be recorded.

  • Patent number: 4148853
Abstract: For the manufacture of a dielectric with inner blocking layers on the basis of barium titanate smooth fragments, that is a finely ground material after sintering whose composition is equal to or approximately equal to the composition of titanate powder, is added to the titanate powder, which is then transformed through pre-baking before pressing of the desired solids. The addition of such smooth fragments reduces the tolerance on electrical parameters of the dielectric.

  • Patent number: 4149195
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing rastered printing forms, in which an image pattern is opto-electronically scanned to obtain an image signal, and the printing form production is effected by means of an energy beam recording device controlled by the image signal, whereby the raster points are recorded in a raster network having arbitrary raster angles, by means of relative motion between the printing form and the recording device, in which the pattern to be reproduced is scanned to simultaneously provide image signals for a plurality of adjacent image points of such a pattern, following which, for the control of the recording device, the image signal of that image point is selected whose local position on the image pattern is congruent with the local position of the raster point to be presently recorded, in the formation of the desired raster angles.

  • Patent number: 4149080
Abstract: In one illustrated embodiment two detector arrays are arranged in parallel and only one detector array is impinged upon by the primary radiation beam, the second detector array detecting only the scatter radiation due to the primary beam. Preferably, the second detector array is arranged so as to receive substantially a maximum intensity essentially equal to the scatter radiation impinging on the first detector array. In one example, the output of the second detector array may be simply subtracted from the output of the first detector array so as to obtain an accurate measure of the transmitted primary radiation. In an alternative embodiment, a single detector array is shifted to a second position for detecting only scatter radiation substantially corresponding to the scatter radiation mixed with the transmitted primary radiation.

  • Patent number: 4148440
Abstract: The jacket material of welding rods is removed and processed for reuse, and the rods are cleaned and processed for reuse by delivering the jacketed rods to a ball mill, grinding the jackets from the rods within the ball mill by oscillating the jacketed rods in the environment of equally long cylindrical grinding bodies while holding the rods and the grinding bodies against axial movement and in generally parallel disposition with respect to one another. The detached jacket material is conveyed continuously from the grinding chamber and further comminuted, the transport of the ground material being supported by flowing a fluid through the grinding chamber. The fluid may be a gas or a liquid and may contain a chemical reacting agent for an after treatment. The fluid may advantageously be circulated, freed from the solid material transported thereby, regenerated and/or heated. Both neutral and chemically reacting fluids may be alternately employed, depending on the particular materials involved.

  • Patent number: 4149069
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety circuit for a data processing system comprising two micro computers which operate in a redundant fashion receiving similar inputs and having similar output lines conveying coincident or corresponding signals during proper operation which are indirectly connected to a common push-pull amplifier. A transformer is connected in circuit with the push-pull amplifier and a conversion circuit constructed from the flip-flop trigger elements produces a pair of signals for operating the push-pull amplifier when the signal pair logic 1 exists. When the signal pair of logic 0 exists, the push-pull amplifier does not operate. The conversion circuit operates in connection with a clock pulse current supply for the two micro computers so that in the case of malfunction, no clock pulses are produced.
