  • Patent number: 5185041
Abstract: A process of, and apparatus for, washing fragments, such as plastic fragments, in a continuous fashion as part of a recycling operation. The plastic fragments are fed into an axially rotating perforated tube, wherein a stationary washing and rinsing spray header are mounted therethrough for spraying the plastic fragments revolving with the tube. Wash and rinse water pass through the perforations, carrying with the water residue and unwanted particles. The wash water, rinse water and unwanted particles pass into a trough arranged below the revolving tube which collects the water and residue and transports same to either a screen separator in the case of the wash water, or a holding tank in the case of the rinse water. Auxiliary systems are disclosed for using recycled wash water and recycled rinse water for the process. A drying system which receives the plastic fragments from the washing apparatus is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5182690
Abstract: Additive elements are added to Fe-N soft magnetic thin films along with oxygen, so that the thermal stability is remarkably improved. After annealing treatment at approximately 550.degree. C., it is possible to provide an Fe-N soft magnetic thin film with a low coercive force. Similarly, it is also possible to provide a soft magnetic thin film having a low coercive force by introducing a combination of specific types of additive elements to Fe-N soft magnetic thin films. When oxygen is further added to the film, it is also possible to provide a soft magnetic thin film which has very excellent soft magnetic characteristics and good thermal stability. The soft magnetic thin films of the invention have good soft magnetic characteristics, a high saturation magnetic flux density and good thermal stability. A magnetic head of a metal-in-gap type using the soft magnetic thin film is also described.

  • Patent number: 5182221
Abstract: A method of filling a recess so that it is flat with a material by a bias ECR-CVD process is capable of depositing the recess with the material without resulting in the increase in the aspect ratio of the recess with the progress of the deposition process and without forming any voids in the material filling up the recess. A method in accordance with the present invention is characterized in that the bias ECR-CVD process is controlled so as to meet a condition expressed by: R=2y/x, where R is the deposition rate ratio, namely, the ratio of a vertical deposition rate at which the material is deposited on the vertical side surface of the recess to a deposition rate at which the material deposited on the horizontal bottom surface of the recess, x is the width of the recess and y is the depth of the recess.

  • Patent number: 5182214
Abstract: An optical method for quantitative determination of human serum albumin (HSA) in biological liquids such as urine is based on the observation that the absorption and fluorescence of certain anionic cyanine dyes possessing a terminal cyano group and having the general formula ##STR1## are strongly affected by HSA. This approach is distinctly more sensitive than existing techniques, allowing the detection and quantization of micro-albuminuria (i.e. detection of HSA in the 1-10 mg per liter concentration range) at costs which are distinctly lower than those for existing immunological assays. It is also much more specific for HSA than existing assays based on dye binding. Because the dyes has long wave absorptions and emissions, use can be made of electro-optical components based on semiconductor technology.

  • Patent number: 5180464
Abstract: Disclosed is a dry etching method by which a polycide film consisting of a refractory metal silicide layer and a polysilicon layer are stacked one upon the other may be etched with high anisotropy, low pollution, high selectivity and high speed without using flon gases.According to the method of the present invention, an etching gas containing a fluorine base gas mixed at least with HBr is used for etching the polycide film for realizing anisotropic processing under sidewall protection by a reaction product of mainly the resist material and Br.Overetching for uniform processing in the wafer plane is performed with the use approximately solely of the fluorine base gas or HBr for realizing a high speed and improving substrate selectivity. The overetching step is preceded by oxygen plasma treatment for oxidizing the reaction product and intensifying side wall protective effects while improving anisotropy.

  • Patent number: 5179879
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for regulating the parallelism of two beams of a cutting press designed for converting sheet or weblike matter into a package. The press comprises a frame made of a lower crossbar and an upper crossbar, connected to one another by means of lateral posts. An upper beam is fitted on the upper crossbar. A lower movable beam is raised and lowered with each operating cycle by means of a drive system supported by the lower crossbar by means of bearings. The bearings can be shifted vertically when the drive system is situated in a lower dead center position in such a way as to regulate the parallelism of the lower beam with regard to the upper beam. When the press accomplishes its operating cycle, a deviation e from parallelism is measured when the drive system is situated in an upper dead center position.
