  • Patent number: 7849091
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed that efficiently support the querying of meta-data in XML documents. The techniques include efficiently identifying XML elements along each location step in an XPath query that satisfy range constraints on ordered meta-data. The techniques include generating an inheritance meta-data index in which actual meta-data levels are associated only with elements for which a value is explicitly specified and associating non-leaf nodes of the index structure with inherited meta-data levels and inheritance source nodes. The techniques may be used with navigation-based and join-based XPath evaluation strategies.

  • Patent number: 7845060
Abstract: A method of providing a linear drive with an axially play-free entrainment connection between at least one linearly travelling rod (5) and a guide unit able to be moved parallel thereto. Between a coupling member (26), projecting to the fore of the rod (5), of the guide unit and the terminal face (27) of the rod (5) adhesive (34) is applied and then the components are so screwed together that athwart the direction of displacement relative motion is still possible. Then the entire unit is shifted between its two terminal positions even prior to curing of the adhesive (34), the components then aligning themselves. After the adhesive is cured the screw connection is finally drawn tight.

  • Patent number: 7845660
Abstract: The invention relates to an anti-roll/pitch system for use in a vehicle, in which a first mass, for instance a cabin, is suspended to a second mass, for instance a chassis, by means of a bearing arm, which is pivotally connected to the second mass around a pivot axis, via spring means. The anti-roll/pitch system comprises means to adjust a point of application of a spring force acting on the bearing arm, so as to adjust a moment exerted by said spring force on said bearing arm to counteract a load exerted on the bearing arm by the first mass. The spring force is exerted on the bearing arm through a flexible, elongated member, such as a string or cable, which takes up little space when adjusting the point of application. The invention furthermore relates to a built-in unit and a vehicle, equipped with an anti-roll/pitch system according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 7837733
Abstract: A method for treating a spinal disc comprises the steps of: determining the integrity of the annulus by subjecting the annulus to a first pressure applied internally of the annulus; providing access to the nucleus pulposus through the annulus without removing any tissue from the annulus or from the nucleus pulposus; and sealably injecting curable biomaterial through the annulus access directly into the nucleus pulposus at a second pressure correlated with the first pressure. The integrity of the annulus may be determined by a pre-operative discogram using a contrast medium that has a viscosity substantially similar to the viscosity of the biomaterial to be injected. The curable biomaterial may be injected under a pressure sufficient to distract opposing vertebral bodies communicating with the disc space.
