Abstract: In a ball sport racquet, for example, a tennis racquet, made up of a main or racquet head frame, a throat with a throat bridge and side bridges diverging to the throat bridge and extending into a shaft, and strings fastened on the main frame and on the throat bridge, the throat bridge can move restrictedly relative to the main frame at least in one axis direction perpendicular to the plane of the strings and/or can rotate on the racquet frame on an axis extending in the direction of a longitudinal axis of the racquet.
Abstract: Calibrating a receiver for a satellite positioning system. At preset intervals, a plurality of calibration signals are generated and applied to the receiver. The plurality of calibration signals correspond to a plurality of satellite signals, respectively, from the satellite positioning system. A relative time-delay bias from a delay estimation algorithm within the receiver. The time-delay bias is stored, preferably with the receiver. The receiver receives the plurality of satellite signals from the satellite positioning system. The plurality of satellite signals are processed with the time-delay bias. The processing reduces effects from the satellite receiver and improving estimate of the differential delay and total electron content (TEC).

Abstract: Proposed is a luminaire, with a housing and a luminous means receptacle for fitting a luminous means in the housing, in which the luminous means receptacle is connected to the housing via a bearing means which is suitable for altering the position of the luminous means receptacle with respect to the housing, with the result that the luminous means can be replaced in a convenient manner. Abstract: A testing harness for a design-under-test is modified to include a standalone implementation of an application programming interface used in developing the design-under-test. The standalone implementation is adapted to a target device, and is packaged with an executable application or MIDlet, together with any needed resource files. Either the package, or optionally a JAR and JAD file, is downloaded to a remote user for execution on the target device. Using the application programming interface and the other downloaded files, the remote user can test the target device, analyze the results, and even modify the test conditions without recourse to the testing harness. The arrangement provides a capability for a party who is not privileged to know details of the testing harness to practically evaluate and modify the design-under-test using a standalone testing application.

Abstract: An electronic interactive book allowing a child to learn the pronunciation of various words. The book will be provided with a permanent or impermanent display onto which a plurality of words, phrases or sentences would be provided. The electronic book includes a microphone as well as a speech recognition unit for recognizing a word that the child pronounces. A highlighting device such as a light emitting diode or a means for illuminating a particular word in a manner different than the surrounding words would be engaged when the child correctly pronounces that word. The highlighting device has the ability to assist the child in the pronunciation of one of the words by verbally pronouncing a portion of the word, as well as simultaneously highlighting that portion. A visual display of the lip movements of an animated character would also assist the child in correctly pronouncing a particular word.

Abstract: An intrusion detection system and method utilizing a power transmission cable connected to a source of radio frequency signals. A data transmission cable is associated with the power transmission cable and is provided with a plurality of radio frequency identification chips. The power transmission cable would induce an electromagnetic field within the data transmission cable allowing each of the RFID chips to transmit a signal during normal operation. However, if an intrusion occurs or the power transmission cable or data transmission cable is severed, the system according to the present invention, would be able to determine the exact point of intrusion based upon the signals received or not received from the RFID chips.

Abstract: A vehicle (10) is used to lift the buried lid of a crypt and any soil or turf overlying the lid. The vehicle (10) has a mobile frame (14) which can be positioned over the lid. An attachment frame (11) is suspended from a subframe (12) within the mobile frame (14), the subframe (12) being adjustable laterally relative to the frame (14). The attachment frame (11) has winch cables (19) adapted to be connected to respective attachment fittings on the lid. Hydraulic cylinders (13) are used to raise the attachment frame (11) relative to the mobile frame (14), and thereby lift the lid and any overlying soil/turf. The raised lid can be transported while suspended from the vehicle (10), and subsequently returned for replacement on its crypt in a reverse procedure.
