Abstract: A sensor probe for moisture and other properties of bulk materials contains selection, input, excitation, and isolation functions for obtaining signals from a group of sensors, converting the signals to digital information, correlating portions of the information and transmitting the information to one or more external actuators and remote receivers and controllers.
Abstract: A commercially available dot matrix printer is converted to a document printer by removing the tractor feed sprockets and shaft substituting a pinch roller, rubber roller combination, the roller having a shaft connected to the same stepper motor as the tractor shaft; supplying three positions sensors, a load sensor for detecting a document causing it to be stepped by the rubber-pinch roller combination to the printer head-anvil combination where two more laterally spaced sensors are located so as to measure skew of the document and to further processing of the document if both sensors do not detect the presence of a document essentially concurrently and to turn control of the printer over to the printer's control circuits for further processing when both sensors are activated essentially concurrently.
Abstract: A low profile swivel coupling having a main body with a hollow cylindrical bearing surface, a front swivel member internally threaded to be screwed onto a threaded bearing seated on the bearing surface and rotatable on it whereby the front swivel member rotates about bearing surface of the main body.
Abstract: A basketball shot making game having a plurality of angularly related panels in an array with the last of the panels having a diagonal flap directed inwardly toward a netless hoop and a hoop structure of different diameters located on the floor in a position such that a properly directed basketball bounced serially off the array of panels and subsequently the flap and through the netless hoop may enter one of the hoops of a hoop structure located on the floor. The hoop structure may comprise three hoops, a regulation size hoop, a second hoop of lesser diameter coaxial and dispersed a regulation net distance from the first hoop and a third hoop may be provided coaxial with interiorly of and supported by and of lesser diameter than the second hoop.
Abstract: Two FM receivers with a common audio output each with its own antenna located six to fifteen feet apart are provided for a moving vehicle together with a switching circuit that in response to the AGC signal sensed at the output of the multiplex adapter of each receiver selects a first receiver if the AGC of that receiver is of greater amplitude than a threshold signal or the amplitude of the AGC signal of the other receiver.
Abstract: A mirror holder support structure for a collapsible rearview mirror assembly on an automobile includes a mirror holder holding a mirror. The mirror holder has a spherical receptacle on a rear surface, with respect to the orientation of the motor vehicle, of the mirror holder. A support assembly which supports the mirror holder has a front casing member and a rear casing member. The support assembly further includes a pivot support having a spherical portion rotatably fitted in the spherical receptacle whereby the mirror holder is swingably supported on the support assembly, the pivot support being integrally formed on a rear surface of the rear casing member. The front and rear casing members are stiffened by a stiffener disposed in a chamber defined between the front and rear casing members. The pivot support and the front casing member are joined to each other by a fastener such as a screw on the axis of the pivot support.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for protecting a body member from damage during a body intrusive procedure in a region adjacent the body member to be protected includes a source of infrared energy introduced into a light guide that is introduced into the body member to be protected; a source of visible light is introduced into the region, this latter source being pulsed at the frame rate of a monitor energized by an infrared sensitive video camera that receives light from such region, the camera being sensitive to infrared energy as well as visible light. In another embodiment of the invention both sources are pulsed in alternation so that the images produced by the different sources are basically emphasized in alternation. A signal source for producing audible and/or visual signals may be provided with a light guide to view the region under investigation. The signal source may be synchronized with the infrared source to protect against false signals produced by the visual light.
Abstract: A quarter frame end dump trailer has one or more resilient members placed in its drag link in order to permit the use of an air ride suspension in a tandem axle, spread axle or other multiple axle configuration.

Abstract: Patent of invention "process for obtaining an hair conditioner," comprising a process for obtaining an hair conditioner which imparts gloss, softness and elasticity to the hair and augments its tendency to maintain the desired shape of the hairdo; the active ingredients of the conditioner being ascorbic acid and cupric and/or cuprous salts: the conditioner in one version being presented in powder form, containing besides the active ingredients, thickening agents, being mixed with water before use and in another version presented in form of a cream, gel or paste, to be used on hair, in both cases containing, optionally, other ingredients of specific action.
Abstract: A fire extinguisher is provided with a voice synthesizer attached thereto that is activated by a position sensitive switch such that upon the fire extinguisher being tilted the voice synthesizer broadcasts instructions on use of the fire extinguisher. The voice synthesizer may be activated in response to other situation sensitive sensors to produce messages appropriate to the situation sensed.
Abstract: A method for applying a controlled, adjustable strain and strain rate by use of a break wheel to break a frangible semiconductor wafer around previously placed scribe lines formed along a surface of the wafer. Several embodiments of a break wheel are disclosed. One embodiment uses a pair of spaced profiles engageable on opposite sides of a scribe line on the wafer. Another embodiment uses three laterally spaced contact profiles, the center profile having a smaller radius than that of the two flanking contact profiles. Another embodiment uses a complaint break wheel for applying a resilient breaking force to the wafer in a region straddling the scribe line. All embodiments are used with a tilted surface having a break edge with which the scribe line is aligned prior to the application of the breaking force. The tilted surface is adjustable to provide a variable maximum strain limit.
Abstract: An automobile rearview mirror has a mirror housing having a spherical pivot and a mirror holder having a spherical cavity in which the spherical pivot is rotatably received. The mirror holder comprises a substantially flat panel and an attachment disposed on one side of the panel and defining the spherical cavity therein. The attachment has a gap defined therein radially outwardly of the spherical cavity. A mirror is supported on an opposite side of the panel. The attachment comprises a pair of semicylindrical socket members projecting from the one side of the panel. The semicylindrical socket members have respective inner arcuate walls and respective outer arcuate walls spaced radially outwardly from the inner arcuate walls, respectively. The inner arcuate walls define the spherical cavity therebetween, and the gap is defined between the inner arcuate walls and the outer arcuate walls.
Abstract: A tilt cylinder for tilting an outboard engine has first and second cylinder chambers. A pair of on/off valves is movably disposed in respective fluid passages connected to a hydraulic pump and the first and second cylinder chambers, respectively. The on/off valves are operatively combined with respective shuttle valves which have respective oil passages in facing relationship to the on/off valves, respectively, and respective ball valve bodies for selectively opening the oil passage into communication with each other. When the hydraulic pump is actuated to develop a working oil pressure buildup, one of the on/off valves is opened by the working oil pressure buildup to establish an oil supply passage from the hydraulic pump to one of the first and second chambers, and the other of the on/off valves is opened by the coacting shuttle valve which is moved by the working oil pressure buildup to establish an oil return passage from the other of the first and second chambers to the hydraulic pump.
Abstract: A semi-end dump trailer body employs hollow rectangular rubrail along each side of the trailer body with crossmembers of U-shaped configuration with outwardly flared sidewalls welded to the inner vertical wall of the rubrails and to inward, relatively short horizontal extensions of the rubrails and to a floor sheet extending across the body between the inward horizontal extensions of the rubrails whereby to strengthen the body increase its acceptable length, height and load carrying capacity without a significant increase in weight and at little increase in cost.
