  • Patent number: 4481907
Abstract: A plurality of animals, especially swines or hogs, which are able to move freely in the same enclosure, are fed by means of an apparatus supplying fodder at a low rate to a number of separate feeding places (11) corresponding to the number of animals in the enclosure. These feeding places may be formed by a trough (10) in which the respective feeding places are defined by partition walls (12). The bottom of the trough is separated into a supply section (15) and an eating section (16). In order to satisfy the root instinct of the animals and thereby make it possible to reduce the fodder supply rate to the respective feeding places without causing the animals to become impatient so that they tend to change feeding place, the fodder is at least partly supplied to the supply section (15) which is shaped and/or arranged so that it is uncomfortable for the animals to eat the fodder directly from the supply section but more comfortable to root the fodder to the eating section (16) before eating it.

  • Patent number: 4482283
Abstract: This invention relates to improvements in refuse trucks and similar vehicles comprising a removable or upwards pivotable collecting container (7) for the waste or refuse as well as a loading hopper (15) or the like which is located beside the container on the refuse vehicle and is provided with means for compressing the refuse and transferring it from the loading hopper to the collecting container through mutually registering openings in adjacent walls facing each other of the loading hopper (15) and the collecting container (7), respectively. When the collecting container (7) has become filled and is to be emptied, it is separated from the loading hopper (15), thereby rupturing a refuse string extending from the loading hopper into the collecting container. This rupture has the almost unavoidable consequence that some waste comes loose and drops to the ground.

Abstract: An improvement in briquetting presses and the like comprises a wear ring, a press cone, an end tube and a press cylinder which is diametrically slotted and encloses the press cone and the end tube, said parts being secured to a machine frame. To facilitate the dismounting of the abovementioned parts the press cylinder is suspended in a pair of brackets which project from the machine frame in such a way that the press cylinder together with the press cone and the end tube is displaceable away from the machine frame and after such displacement is rotatable on an axis which is substantially perpendicular to the central axis of the press cone and the end tube. A hydraulic jack associated with the press and designed to cooperate with the press cylinder comprises a yoke and a bail which together enclose the press cylinder at the compression of its two slots.

  • Patent number: 4470793
Abstract: An extruder for extruding pasta in the form of a continuous thin strip in a pasta-making machine, more particularly for domestic use.The extruder comprises a first tubular body and a coaxial inner jacket defining a circular opening of predetermined diameter "D". A second tubular body having a flange comprises a coaxial cylindrical body held in position by a number of rigid radial elements defining passages and is engaged coaxially in body. The outer diameter "d" of body is less than the diameter "D" and defines a slot for extruding pasta in the form of a continuous tube which is automatically cut along a generatrix by a tooth secured to the outer surface of body. The components of extruder can be axially dismantled in order to remove residues of pasta after the extrusion process. Jacket also has projections which slow down the pasta as it travels in the passage, thus bringing it to the same speed as the pasta encountering the radial elements.

  • Patent number: 4465448
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making shoes of the type comprising an injection molded sole which is bonded to a marginal edge portion of a string lasting preferably made of a thermoplastic material. The lasting is held on a last. A radiant heater is automatically positioned below the lasting to preheat the marginal edge portion of the lasting until it is tacky, at about 150.degree.-200.degree. F., after which the heater is withdrawn and the last and the lasting are positioned at the top of a sole mold. Injection molding apparatus injects a molten thermoplastic sole material, such as polyvinyl chloride, at high temperatures of about 300.degree.-380.degree. F. into a sole cavity formed in the sole mold were the molten material bonds to the marginal edge portion of the lasting to form a completed shoe. The completed shoe is cooled by transferring it from the last which was employed during the molding operation to a cooling last separate from the machine. The completed shoe is rapidly cooled to down below 45.degree.
