  • Patent number: 4066251
Abstract: A continuous business form including a series of connected blanks, adapted to be subsequently processed into combination mailing envelopes and return envelopes having common back ply panels, is produced from a first endless web having at least two panels spanning the width thereof, wherein one panel defines the front ply panel of the mailing envelope and the other panel defines a back ply panel common to both the mailing envelope and the return envelope. A second endless web defining the front ply panel of the return envelope approximates the width of and is disposed in direct overlying relationship with the back ply panel and marginally secured thereto, forming a return envelope pocket, completing the series of interconnected blanks. A third endless web defining inserts adapted to receive original, directly applied indicia is subsequently disposed in direct overlying relationship with the front ply panel of the return envelope and secured to marginal portions thereof.

  • Patent number: 4062414
Abstract: The scale rail of a weighing mechanism is interposed in axial alignment with the spaced adjacent ends of an elevated fixed trolley rail, and means are provided for advancing a wheeled trolley onto the scale rail after which the initial trolley-advancing means is physically disengaged from the trolley thereby permitting it to stop on the scale rail where it remains until the trolley is next engaged by second trolley advancing means which advance it along and off of the scale rail onto an adjacent section of the trolley rail. Means are provided for selectively disposing the second trolley advancing means in operative or in inoperative relationship relative to a trolley.

  • Patent number: 4039122
Abstract: A continuous business form which includes a series of connected blanks adapted to be subsequently processed into multi-ply lottery tickets, envelopes or like articles, is produced from an endless web of sheet material. Each blank is developed from an odd number of continuous panels which span the width of the web wherein adjacent, non-abutting panels define the various plies of each article, and wherein one surface of certain of the nonabutting panels is provided with an adhesive which is not activated for adhering to other panels of the form until after original indicia has been applied to the non-abutting panels which are thereafter superposed in overlying relationship for producing the continuous series of multi-ply forms wherein each ply contains original, directly applied indicia.

  • Patent number: 4035868
Abstract: A pair of chains are secured in spaced relationship to an endless conveyor from which they depend for controlling the closing and opening of a slip loop defined by one of the chains. A flap of hide is retained in the slip loop during and after a hide pulling operation until the pulled hide has been fully elevated to a predetermined position, at which time it is released and dropped at a location adjacent but spaced from the locus of the hide-pulling operation. The closing and opening of the slip loop is a function of the relationship of the connection of the chains with the endless conveyor as it changes direction during its travel along a predetermined path.

  • Patent number: 4034759
Abstract: A hollow-cylindrical tube of dehydrated, regenerated cellulose sponge material is tightly compressed to provide an elongate member of minimal diameter having sufficient rigidity to be inserted endwise into a body opening where it will, when moistened, expand radially whereby to substantially engage the inner peripheral walls of the opening for securing it against accidental or unintentional dislodgement therefrom. When used in association with an ear canal an axial opening through the expanded member permits sound waves to reach the ear drum. The device can be used to apply medicament by expanding the compressed tube with a liquid medicament.

  • Patent number: 4033611
Abstract: A multi-ply lottery ticket or like article is formed from a single sheet of material transversely accordion folded into a set of three contiguous panels disposed in registered zig-zag relationship. The articles are formed from an endless web of sheet material transversely subdivided into a series of connected blanks each of which is transversely trisected into a set of three contiguous panels spanning the full width of the web, wherein portions of each surface of the web are provided with adhesive which is not activated for adhering to other panels until after original indicia has been applied to an upper surface of at least one panel of each blank. Thereafter, each set of panels is accordion folded into registered zig-zag relationship, abutting panels permanently bonded to one another, producing the continuous series of multi-ply tickets or like articles.

  • Patent number: 4031999
Abstract: A plurality of elongate, cylindrical articles are continuously, sequentially advanced toward and selectively introduced into the upper and lower compartments of one or the other of a pair of article-receptive chambers. A first finite number of articles are received and accumulated in the upper compartment of one chamber and then discharged and deposited, en masse, in the lower compartment of this chamber, during which a second finite number of articles are received by the lower chamber and are accumulated with the first finite number of articles deposited therein. All of the articles accumulated in the lower compartment of this chamber are then discharged, en masse, into a suitable receptacle. While the articles are being discharged from this chamber, advancing articles are automatically directed toward and likewise introduced into the upper and thereafter the lower compartments of the other chamber.

  • Patent number: 4021883
Abstract: A hide-puller includes a pair of transversely spaced, endless, flexible members which define a continuous, vertical path having a forward descending reach and a rearward ascending reach. A horizontal reaction member is secured to, carried by and spans the flexible members and is advanced therewith along the continuous path. A carcass to be stripped of hide is suspended, head-end down, from an overhead support forwardly of and adjacent the descending reach and a stationary anchor member is disposed intermediate of the reaches for securing a loosened, tail-end-adjacent flap of the hide, whereby the reaction member engages and imparts a downward, hide-pulling motion to the hide intermediate of the anchor and the carcass as the reaction member advances in the downward reach.
