  • Patent number: 4246909
Abstract: A disposable urethral catheter assembly includes a flexible bag in which a number of chambers are defined by barriers. In an upper chamber, a catheter is contained in a sterile environment. When the catheter is inserted through the urethra into the bladder, the fluid flows into the bag through the upper chamber and into a lower sample chamber, excess fluid being collected in the upper chamber. After catheterization, a one-piece element which provides a sealable passageway through the first barrier between the upper and lower chamber can be readily closed by manipulation through the wall of the bag and thus isolate the sample in the lower chamber. The upper chamber, its contents and the catheter are separated from the sealed lower chamber and discarded. The lower sample chamber which provides a sterile environment for its contents can then be sent to a laboratory for analysis and culture.

  • Patent number: 4229973
Abstract: A device for braking the motion of the float of a float type liquid-level gauge used with a liquid container, comprising a casing, a vane member disposed in the casing in such a manner as to produce a motion relative to the casing, a fluid placed to fill the inner space of the casing now containing the vane member and retaining an extra space for permitting the relative motion of the vane member, and a path formed in the casing to permit flow of the fluid inside the inner space of the casing during the aforementioned relative motion of the vane member inside the casing. In actual use, the casing is fixed in position and the vane member is connected with a member adapted to move in conjunction with the float of the float type liquid-level gauge. When a sudden, momentary displacement occurs in the liquid level in the liquid container with which the liquid-level gauge is used, the float kept on the liquid surface by buoyant force tends to follow the displacement.

  • Patent number: 4218954
Abstract: Fastening device of plastics material for a round hole, designed to receive a screw enabling mounting with a high gripping torque and this even in thin sheet metal. It includes a principal element capable of becoming clipped in a round hole of a support and a complementary element which is engaged in the upper portion of the first element. A mounting screw passes through the element and becomes self-tapping in the lower portion of the body. The advance of the screw causes, at the same time, the descent of the wedge and the reascent of the low portion of the principal element, which results in gripping expansion of the whole within the hole. The invention can be used for the mounting of any parts by means of a screw in a member clipped in a round hole with high gripping torque.

  • Patent number: 4193310
Abstract: This invention relates to a two piece plastic idler pulley formed of identical portions including a hub, a web and a rim with identical fastening means on the two half portions which permit the two portions to be joined together as the idler pulley. The hub of the idler pulley has a through bore which is inversely tapered whereby the hub will flex when subjected to a workload and will capture the lubricant internally of the bore. The rim carries diverging means which extend radially and laterally outwardly from the rim to insure proper seating of power transmission means such as a belt. The diverging means also is capable of engaging the power transmission belt when it is inadvertently seated on the hub to move the belt into seated relationship on the rim for proper operation of the device.
