  • Patent number: 5953975
Abstract: A table structure of the machine includes a table top defining an open area through which the trunk of a small tree may extend to enable lateral abutment of the lower trunk against an edge of the table top. A second or elevated abutment is carried on a post for engagement with an upper end segment of the tree trunk to position the trunk in an upright manner for subsequent cutting off of the trunk base. A circular power saw is swingably mounted on the table structure and swings about an axis during a trunk cutting operation. A saw carrier is spring biased so as to disengage the saw from the trunk being cut. A blade guard of the saw is automatically retracted by a tether to expose the saw blade during a cutting operation and oppositely to conceal the blade when retracted away from the tree trunk.

  • Patent number: 5934886
Abstract: A diaphragm pump is powered by fluctuating pressure in a pressurized conduit. A three way valve is cycled to alternately pressurize and vent the pump. A power diaphragm drives a piston having a skirt with a reduced end wall to displace a quantity of hydraulic fluid from a pump chamber to drive a pumping diaphragm. An inlet of the pump admits a quantity of fluid to be discharged via a pump outlet. A spring component biases the piston to return same upon venting of the pressurized conduit. The diaphragm pump is shown in a pumping system wherein a primary pump and an intermittently cycled three way valve operate the diaphragm pump to inject fluid into the output conduit from the primary pump.

  • Patent number: 5840377
Abstract: A container is provided with a liner, such as a jigsaw puzzle, which is visible through translucent container walls. Retainers to hold the puzzle or puzzles in place against wall surfaces are panels in endwise engagement with one another. A modified form of retainer is a frame embodied in having a backing on which puzzle pieces are assembled and supported. Adhesive areas on the frame hold the frame and the assembled pieces in place against a container wall. Multiple positionable panels carried by a common base may also serve to retain the jigsaw puzzle pieces in place opposite a container wall. A method of providing a container with an assembled display is disclosed. The retainers may be of translucent material to render visible the inner surfaces of assembled puzzle pieces with a graphic display thereon.

  • Patent number: 5829200
Abstract: The apparatus includes fire retardant blankets normally stowed within housings in place on a building roof structure or below a roof eave. Cables extract the blankets for deployment over a roof. Fire retardant wall blankets stowed in housings adjacent roof eaves are deployed by gravity. For protection of a building end wall having a gable,a blanket support is carried subjacent the end of a roof structure and , upon release , of the support the same pivots to the horizontal whereat a fire retardant blanket is deployed. Associated with the blanket support is a triangularly shaped gable blanket which deploys adjacent the gable. A modification of the apparatus includes a deck mounted blanket housing in which is stowed a fire retardant blanket drawn over the deck and downwardly by a winch and cables. A further modification includes a blanket housing atop a roof ridge with roof mounted cable and blanket supports.

  • Patent number: 5830060
Abstract: A machine having pairs of powered rollers for propelling ears of corn along a course through a cutter head assembly for kernel separation. A hydraulic motor drives each roller by means of a powered shaft which, along with the motor, may be displaced during roller contact with a passing ear of corn by reason of flexible motor mounts each inducing a yieldable distal portion for motor attachment. The motors are shown in fluid communication with a single source of pressurized fluid. Equalizer arms each associated with a powered shaft ensures uniform, opposite displacment of each pair of rollers during contact with an ear of corn. A link coupling each pair of equalizer arms, and indirectly the shafts associated therewith, effects uniform roller displacement to permit ear travel along an axial course through the machine.

  • Patent number: 5725374
Abstract: A coupler is adapted for inserted engagement with a dental ejector valve and serves to couple a vacuum hose to the valve. A passageway in the coupler is closed by a flexible disk which flexes open in response to a vacuum inducted ejector system flow from a source. The disk is confined in place across the passageway by a retainer which biases the disk into engagement with a valve seat surface. The flexible disk blocks any reverse flow through the coupler as when a reduced pressure occurs from interaction of the patient's mouth with a saliva ejector.
