Abstract: A compensator for a shadow mask for a color television picture tube comprises an elongated bimetal support member comprising a high expansion austenitic stainless steel alloy extending the length and half the width of the support member and a low expansion age hardenable stainless steel alloy extending the length and half the width of the support member, the two alloys being edge bonded to each other.
Abstract: Alumina is bonded to a metal by means of an active brazing filler alloy. When the metal to which the alumina is bonded is a high blushing metal, that is, a metal on which the active brazing filler alloy readily flows on the surface, a thin layer of a low blushing metal is disposed therebetween.
Abstract: A long alumina ceramic tube having good linearity is made by longitudinally joining shorter alumina tubes at the ends thereof. The ends have tapered surfaces thereat to increase the contact surface of the joint. The contact surface has a thin coating of an alumina containing composition thereon which is fired at a high temperature to provide a secure joint between the shorter alumina tubes.
Abstract: A compensator for a pressure operated fuel regulator comprises a housing having an opening for bleeding air therethrough. There is a tapered plug in the opening fastened to a thermostatic metal within the housing. When the thermostatic metal is heated by incoming air, the clearance around the plug in the opening increases, and the amount of air bleeding out of the opening increases.

Abstract: A long alumina ceramic tube having good linearity is made by longitudinally joining shorter alumina tubes at the ends thereof. The end of one shorter tube is ground to reduce wall thickness and is inserted into the end of another tube which has also been ground to reduce wall thickness. There are aligned peripheral grooves in the ground ends for the purpose of holding ceramic cement. The joined ends of the tubes are then fired at a high temperature to form a secure joint therebetween.
Abstract: A malleable composite brazing alloy comprises a pair of outer layers formed of a titanium-aluminum-vanadium alloy and an inner layer formed of a copper-nickel alloy, the layers being bonded to each other by rolling.
Abstract: An insecticide dispenser capable of setting off a charge of insecticide to fumigate a room and then automatically shutting itself off before the completion of the dispensing of the charge of the insecticide, whereby the dispenser can be safely left unattended during the fumigation of a room. The dispenser includes a container for the insecticide and a fusible member that will break during the volatilization of the insecticide thereby to break the electrical circuit and turn off the power supply.

Abstract: A heat recuperator comprises a cross-flow ceramic core within a housing. Of the six faces on the core, four have openings for gas flow therethrough and two faces are solid. Means are provided to apply compressive force to the solid faces, the means being disposed within the housing.

Abstract: A long alumina ceramic tube having good linearity is made by longitudinally joining shorter sintered alumina tubes at the ends thereof. The end of one shorter tube is ground and externally threaded. The end of another shorter sintered alumina tube is ground and internally threaded. The externally threaded end is then securely threaded into the internally threaded end. Additional tubes are similarly ground and threaded to attain the length of the long alumina ceramic tube.
Abstract: An insecticide dispenser capable of initiating the volatilization of a charge of insecticide to fumigate a room and then automatically shutting itself off during, or at the completion of the dispensing of the insecticide, whereby the dispenser can be safely left unattended during the fumigation of a room. The dispenser includes a container for the insecticide disposed upon a PTC heater, the elements being arranged adjacent a bimetal switching device that opens upon sensing a predetermined temperature, and can hold itself in the open position until intentionally reset. When the electrical circuit is open, the power supply to the PTC heater is broken and the heating will be discontinued.
Abstract: Cemented silver powder is thermal conditioned in order to preserve the cemented silver powder morphology through subsequent processing operations.
Abstract: A refractory metal silicide sputtering target is made by reacting refractory metal and silicon to about 70 to 90% completion of the reaction, comminuting the material, and then vacuum hot pressing the comminuted material to a high density compact.

Abstract: A carrier for electronic circuit boards that is configured for placement in a case of a telephone interface device. The carrier includes a backing member and at least two channels disposed at opposite ends thereof. A flange extends from each end of the backing member, whereby the carrier can be placed in the case of the interface device.
Abstract: A silicon nitride coating is deposited on the inside surface of a crucible by pyrolysis. Reactive gases are fed through a tube into the crucible. The crucible is rotated during deposition and the crucible walls are maintained at a temperature of at least about 1250.degree. C.

Abstract: A station protector for communication lines includes a line terminal formed for electrical connection to the communication lines and affixed to a base member of electrical insulator material. The base member has a well into which an arrester cartridge can be threaded. There is a grounding element affixed to the base member, the grounding element including an extending grounding member located outside the area of the well. A spring electrically connects the line terminal to a surge voltage arrester if an arrester cartridge is properly positioned in the well, and grounds the line terminal in the absence of the arrester cartridge or any part thereof.
Abstract: An insecticide dispenser capable of initiating the volatilization of a charge of insecticide to fumigate a room. The dispenser includes a container for the insecticide that is disposed upon a PTC heater. One side of the power supply necessary to initiate the chemical reaction passes directly through the cannister to the PTC heater. The other side of the power supply is connected through a support upon which the PTC heater rests. In the preferred embodiment, an electrical cut-off device is included in the circuit which will turn off the power when a predetermined temperature is attained which will be indicative of the initiation of the self-sustaining chemical reaction that causes the dispensing of the insecticide into the room.
Abstract: A telephone network interface device adapted to be placed within a standard receptacle box including a face plate and a housing containing terminal posts disposed on the rear of the housing. A cover is detachably arranged over an array of terminal posts that are adapted to be connected to the telephone company's portion of the telephone network and terminal posts are exposed for subscriber access to the portion of the posts that are connected to the subscriber's portion of the telephone system.
Abstract: In the manufacture of silicon nitride powder by the vapor phase reaction of a silicon halide with ammonia at an elevated temperature in a flowing system, oxygen content of the silicon nitride is controlled by preventing entry of room air into the reaction means and by feeding wet nitrogen into the system at about the exit end of the reaction means.
