  • Patent number: 4385913
Abstract: A device for eliminating droplets of liquid from a gas stream. A spindle member is mounted in a tubular body. The spindle member includes upper and lower disc portions sealed at their edges to the tubular body and a plurality of tubular portions spanning the upper and lower disc portions. A base member closes a lower end of the tubular body. A mixing chamber is provided inside the body below the lower disc member. A head member closes an upper end of the tubular body. A pair of chambers is formed in the head member facing the interior of the tubular body. Openings in the disc members provide communication from one of the chambers in the head member through the interior of the tubular portions to the mixing chamber. Return openings in the upper and lower disc members provide communication between the mixing chamber and the other chamber in the head member. Liquid absorbent plug members are mounted in the tubular portions.

  • Patent number: 4383379
Abstract: A machine for drying granular materials such as sand and gravel. The machine includes coaxial inner and outer cylinders. Moist sand is introduced into an inlet end of the inner cylinder and gravel is introduced into the inlet end of the outer cylinder. The sand is moved along the inner cylinder by impellers toward the outlet end of the inner cylinder in heat exchange relation with the inner cylinder while the sand is heated to evaporate water therefrom. The heated sand is directed from the outlet end of the inner cylinder into an inlet end portion of the outer cylinder to mix with the gravel. Impeller assemblies mounted on the interior of the outer cylinder raise the sand-gravel mixture as the cylinders rotate to cause the sand-gravel mixture to advance along the space between the cylinders toward the outlet end of the outer cylinder and to cascade against an outer wall of the inner cylinder. End portions of the inner cylinder are carried by support assemblies mounted on the outer cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4381971
Abstract: A water distillation system which includes a storage tank for impure water and a storage tank for distilled water. Impure water is pumped through a heater to an evaporator. Impure water is also pumped through an impure water jet ejector. Distilled water is pumped through a distilled water jet ejector. The impure water jet ejector withdraws water from the bottom of the evaporator. The distilled water jet ejector withdraws water vapor from the top of the evaporator. Distilled water from the distilled water jet ejector passes through a heat exchanger in the impure water tank to heat input water. Impure water from the impure water jet ejector passes through a heat exchanger in the distilled water tank to cool the distilled water.

  • Patent number: 4369547
Abstract: An animal skinning machine. Upper and lower clamp guide trackways guide clamp carriages between which a clamp body is mounted. A first clamp and a clamp frame are carried by the clamp body. Clamp actuators carried by the clamp frame support a second clamp which is movable between a released position spaced from the first clamp and an engaged position for cooperating with the first clamp for engaging a leading edge portion of an animal skin. An elongated knife member is mounted adjacent entry ends of the clamp guide trackways for separating the skin from a carcass of the animal. Upper and lower roller guide trackways guide roller carriages and a roller rotatably mounted on the roller carriages for movement between a retracted position at which the roller is spaced from the knife member and an advanced position adjacent the knife member and spaced therefrom sufficiently to permit the skin to pass between the knife member and the roller.

  • Patent number: 4358127
Abstract: A support system for a wheeled vehicle that includes a housing mounted on the vehicle, a pair of support arms pivotally mounted on the housing, wheels mounted on the support arms for engaging a supporting surface, and a crank arm attached to each support arm. Locking fittings pivotally mounted on the housing carry teeth engageable with teeth mounted on the crank arms to hold the crank arms in selected positions. The locking fittings are withdrawn from tooth engaged position to release the support arms for swinging movement. The support arms are swung between a raised position and a lowered vehicle supporting position. The locking fittings hold the support arms in raised position or in selected lowered position when released.

  • Patent number: 4356630
Abstract: A tool for slitting a casing of a cable. A knife blade is held between a pair of holder halves. Slots in the holder halves along a part line form an opening between the holder halves of a size to receive the cable for movement axially through the opening. A corner portion of the knife blade extends from an edge of the opening transversely of the opening a sufficient distance to slit the casing of the cable without penetrating conductors of the cable as the cable is advanced along the opening.

  • Patent number: 4336915
Abstract: A keel kite including brackets slidably mounted on wing sticks thereof. The brackets are spanned by a cross brace telescopically mounted in and connecting the brackets. The brackets can be held at selected positions along the wing sticks. A kite string is attached to the keel. An opening in the keel receives an air activated sound making device mounted on a central keel stick of the kite. The sound making device is actuated by air passing the keel as the kite flies. The sound making device includes a spinner rotatably mounted in the opening in the keel. The spinner is of light reflective material. The body is transparent so that sunlight can be reflected from the spinner in a flashing or sparkling effect.
