Patent number: 4676376Abstract: A temporary protective cover for an automobile seat or the like which comprises an elongated strip of film with a pocket or cap at the upper end that fits over the upper end of the set, with the remaining portion of the film extending downwardly over the front surface of the seat. The film is a co-extruded film formed of two different thermoplastic materials having different cling properties, such that a sticky side of the film faces inwardly against the seat and a slippery side faces outwardly. High density polyethylene forms one surface and low density or linear low density polyethylene forms the other surface. A seat cover thus formed clings to the seat and prevents dislodging of the seat cover even though the seat cover may be subjected to a sideways displacement force when a person or other object slides across the exterior surface of the seat cover.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1985Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Assignee: Petoskey Plastics, Inc.Inventor: Paul C. Patent number: 4676569Abstract: A protective, tamper-resistant cover for an elevated CATV distribution tap that is mounted on an elevated CATV signal line comprises top and bottom sections that fit over and under the tap and are joined together at a junction between the sections to enclose the tap. The cover includes side openings for the CATV signal cable and for local signal cables that permit the sections to be fitted on and removed from the tap without disconnecting the signal cables from the tap. These openings are remote from the terminal connectors for these cables so as to impair access to the terminal connectors. The top and bottom sections are releasably fastened together by concealed, tamper-resistant fasteners that extend between the sections. The fasteners fit through rounded ears that resist breakage.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1985Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Inventors: Harry S. Lambert, Daniel J. VanDam

Patent number: 4658335Abstract: A resilient mounting mechanism for suspending vehicle tail lights from a vehicle comprises a transverse mounting bracket in which the vehicle tail lights are mounted and a resilient suspension mechanism for suspending the mounting bracket from the vehicle for deflection in a forward, backward, or either sideways direction when the mounting bracket encounters an obstruction. The mounting bracket preferably comprises a mounting plate having raised edges around the periphery thereof that protect the vehicle tail lights from striking an obstruction. The resilient suspension mechanism comprises one or more spring members attaching the mounting plate to the vehicle. The spring member holds the mounting bracket in a substantially stable position during normal conditions but permits deflection when the mounting plate strikes an obstruction. In one embodiment, an elastic damper covers the spring member to further restrict vibration of the mounting bracket and enhances the stability of the tail light assembly.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1983Date of Patent: April 14, 1987Inventor: Daniel L. Patent number: 4619114Abstract: An auxiliary outside air refrigeration mechanism for a refrigerated storage room comprises an air-to-air heat exchanger wherein the two air supplies are sealed from each other by a physical seal and by a positive pressure air differential between the air supplies. An inlet and outlet for one air supply is connected to receive and return storage room air and an inlet and outlet for the other air supply is connected to receive and circulate outside air. A control mechanism automatically renders the auxiliary refrigerating mechanism operational when the outside temperature is a predetermined temperature below the upper temperature limit in the storage room. The control mechanism actuates the auxiliary refrigerating mechanism at a temperature below the temperature at which the conventional mechanical refrigerating unit is actuated, thus supplementing the conventional refrigerating unit when the outside temperature is cold.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1985Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Inventor: Ralph Wilson

Patent number: 4581913Abstract: A method for improving the release and finish characteristics of metal stamping dies includes shot peening the interior die cavity walls with substantially spherical shot having a hardness value at least equal to the hardness value of the die cavity walls. Optimizing the parameters of the peening process, such as the Almen intensity and the shot type, size, hardness and uniformity, maximizes the improvement to the release and finish characteristics of the die. Optionally, the initial shot peening is followed by a second shot peening with substantially spherical glass beads. Metal stamping dies shot peened in accordance with the present method exhibit substantial improvement in their release and finish characteristics over unpeened dies.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1983Date of Patent: April 15, 1986Assignee: Luster Finish, Inc.Inventor: James L. Patent number: 4572470Abstract: A non-removable hanger for a picture frame comprises a pair of flat hanger members having openings at each end, threaded fasteners for pivotably attaching lower ends of the hanger members to opposite vertical sides of the frames and threaded fasteners for attaching upper ends of the hanger members to the wall. The hanger members are attached to the wall after being attached to the back of the frame by rotating or pivoting the picture frame against the wall so that the ends of the hanger members are alternately exposed. The exposed ends are screwed into the wall. A spring lock engages the hanger members and prevents them from pivoting once the frame is mounted and positioned in its proper vertical position.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1981Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: David E. Patent number: 4571191Abstract: A method and apparatus for teaching physical principles of fluid flow and the mathematical principles of integration by concrete, measurable examples comprised the use of a plurality of teaching funnels each capable of being supported by a mounting mechanism in a stable position over a receptacle. Each funnel has perimetric sidewalls with interior surfaces that conform to equations that will provide an integrable function when plugged into the equation for computing the time it takes for the funnel to empty of liquid. The funnels can have a base covering the lower end of the funnel with an outlet orifice formed in the base. The orifice is spaced a predetermined distance away from the sidewalls to achieve a desired outflow rate. The different sidewalls can be formed of different shapes as long as each conforms with a formula that yields an integrable function when plugged into the equation for computing the time it takes for the funnel to empty of liquid.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1984Date of Patent: February 18, 1986Inventor: Peteris E.
