    Abstract: A bale wagon has improved apparatus for repositioning selected bales on its second, tier-forming table so as to provide a generally even stack side on the bale loader side of the bale wagon. The apparatus includes a frame slidably mounted on the underside of the second table adjacent to the bale loader side thereof and a pair of bale-engaging cleats mounted on the frame and extending upwardly through elongated slots formed in the second table. The frame is slidable along a generally linear path which angles toward the forward right corner of the second table and is interconnected to a first, bale-receiving table of the bale wagon through a cable and pulley system. A spring biases the slidable frame to an outer position toward the loader side of the second table.

First and second adjacently-positioned pawl elements are mounted on the driven part for opposing pivotal movements between respective retracted and extended positions, being urged by respective springs to their respective extended positions. In their respective extended positions, the first pawl element is disposed for driving engagement with the leading lug portion while the second pawl element is disposed for engagement with the trailing lug portion so as to prevent any substantial amount of overrun of the driven clutch part relative to the driving clutch part. In their respective retracted positions, the first and second pawl elements are withdrawn from engagement with their respective lug portions.

    Abstract: An implement, such as a baler, has a mobile frame, a forwardly extending tongue attachable at its forward end to a vehicle for towing the baler and connected at its rearward end to the frame for lateral movement relative to the frame and improved apparatus for facilitating the lateral shifting of the tongue relative to the frame. A forwardly protruding flange is disposed on the lower forward end of the bale case of the baler frame. The improved apparatus includes a wear plate which is replaceably attached to the bottom side of the bale case flange and a roller element mounted on the portion of the tongue which underlies the wear plate. The roller element maintains the wear plate in spaced relationship above the tongue while at the same time provides load-bearing rolling contact with the wear plate. The roller element is cylindrical in shape and rotatably mounted on a shaft element.

    Abstract: A baler has improved linkage for controlling a needle safety latch mechanism being supported on the baler and biased for movement from a retracted position to an extended position for stopping the reciprocation of a plunger within a bale case on the baler if the timing between the plunger and a needle-carrying member on the baler is disrupted and the plunger moves on a working stroke when the needles are projected across the bale case and the path of the plunger. The improved linkage includes an elongated rigid member extending along the bale case and pivotally interconnected at one end to the latch mechanism and a link pivotally coupled adjacent one of its ends to pivot means which also pivotally mounts the needle-carrying member. The link adjacent an opposite one of its ends is pivotally coupled to an opposite end of the elongated member. Also, the link includes a portion disposed in the path of movement of the needle-carrying member.

    Abstract: Tier pattern selection on the disclosed bale wagon involves periodic rotation of a memory element in the form of a cam plate relative to a cam follower which is connected to means on the bale wagon which will cause the tier pattern selected to be formed. The cam plate is rotated through successive predetermined displacements to successively bring respective peripheral lobes on the cam plate into engagement with the cam follower in a desired sequence. Accurate rotation of the cam plate is facilitated by an electric motor drivingly interconnected to a sprocket mounted on the cam plate shaft, a series of switches and circuitry which interconnects the motor with an electrical power source on the bale wagon.

The tube is fastened at one end to a gear segmented plate which is supported on one end of a shaft rotatably mounted on the frame. The dispensing tube is adapted to be driven along its predetermined path either manually by a handle having a gear segment that driveably mates with the gear segmented plate or automatically by a hydraulic cylinder that is operably connected to the shaft that rotatably supports the plate and the tube.

    Abstract: A forage harvester row crop header having a mobile frame, at least one fore-and-aft extending row crop unit mounted on the frame and including an elongated passageway for receiving a row of crop as the header advances forwardly over a field of crop planted in spaced apart rows is provided with an improved severing mechanism for severing the crop within the passageway and which further insures the severance of grass-like materials within the crop row. The improved severing mechanism includes upper and lower rotary severing discs and a lower rotary guide disc. The upper and lower rotary severing discs are disposed on opposite sides of the elongated passageway and overlap within the passageway in defining a severing zone for severance of crop material. The lower rotary guide disc is mounted to and below the upper severing disc. Upon operation, the guide disc engages grass-like materials within the row crop and orients the same into the severing zone resulting in severance thereof.

The paddle has a dished or cupped shape, is substantially symmetrical about its centerline, and includes a curved main body portion and integrally formed upper engaging and lower mounting portions. The upper portion has a curved shape similar to the main body portion and is inclined inwardly toward the axis of curvature of the main body portion, thus providing a concave working surface. The lower portion presents a planar surface for mounting the paddle on a beater shaft. The paddle, being symmetrical, can be used on either the left or right sides of a spreader.

The angles are generally equal and predetermined such that, upon predetermined rotation of the tubular member, the spiders rotate therewith within the aforementioned planes and concurrently universally articulate relative to the tubular member so that the tine-carrying bars will engage and sweep crop laterally and toward the harvesting machine.
