Abstract: An adaptor or termination assembly for a mini-coax cable is made up of an extension tip which receives the inner conductor pin on the cable, a first sleeve which fits over an exposed end of the dielectric layer, and a second sleeve which surrounds an exposed end of the outer conductor, all as a preliminary to inserting the assembly into a standard sized connector body and assuring a positive connection between the cable and connector body in such a way as to avoid creating impedance which will downgrade the signal passing through the cable into the connector.

Abstract: In a coaxial cable TV connector, a universal crimping ring assembly is made up of axially offset crimping members arranged in telescoping relation to one another and to a crimpable sleeve into which the coaxial cable is inserted, and the crimping rings are preassembled onto the sleeve and have at least one tapered surface portion between them so that when the crimping rings are axially advanced over the outer sleeve will cause inward radial deformation of the outer sleeve into sealed engagement with an external surface of the cable.

Abstract: A coating composition for a golf ball is comprised of a slippery, transparent or white, non-sticky lubricant film, and a method for applying same to a golf ball comprises the steps of applying the lubricant to an external surface of the golf ball prior to striking the ball with a golf club, and applying the coating uniformly to the external surface of the golf ball and to a sufficient degree as to reduce the friction between said external surface and the atmosphere or ground when propelled through the atmosphere or along the ground, respectively.

Abstract: A support cushion for newborns, infants and toddlers that is adjustable with the growth of the child. The cushion is formed of an upper panel, a lower panel and adjustable side flaps that aid in supporting the head, neck and body of an infant. The upper panel contains a padded section with a corresponding depression to support an infant's head. The side flaps are removable so that the upper and lower panels provide a cushioned head and body support for a toddler that can be placed in a carseat, baby jogger or stroller.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for directing a coolant stream onto a cutting tool is made up of a nozzle pivotally mounted on a machine tool, the nozzle being automatically adjusted in response to movement of the machine tool via a retractable plunger or other linear drive member so as to cause the coolant stream to intersect the interface between a workpiece and each cutting tool that is brought into cutting position on the machine tool; and the nozzle is pivotal between a reference position and a different intermediate position corresponding to the length or diameter of the cutting tool which is advanced into cutting position.

Abstract: A hand-held tool for terminating connectors onto a coaxial cable has an elongated body and an end stop and plunger on the body, the plunger being controlled by a lever arm which will axially advance the plunger toward and away from the end stop to radially compress a portion of the connector into firm crimping engagement with the end of the coaxial cable. To accommodate different lengths of connectors, a receiver is resiliently mounted on the plunger for insertion of different length adapter tips to vary the axial spacing between the receiver and the end stop according to the length of connector being terminated; and in still another form the body may include a hinged adapter adjacent to the end stop to vary the effective distance between the end stop and plunger according to the length of fitting being terminated.

Abstract: An automatic clutch for automotive and other applications employs a control rod to manually control engagement and disengagement of the clutch independently of its speed of rotation, and in one form of invention can be employed in manual start motorcycles to engage the clutch for bumpstarting purposes before the engine is up to speed, and in an alternate form a control rod can be employed in electrically started bikes to lock the clutch against engagement whether or not the engine is up to the speed required for automatic engagement of the clutch. The control rod may either extend through the transmission shaft from one end of the clutch housing or may extend through the opposite end of the clutch housing, and in certain applications the hereinbefore described control rods can be combined to selectively control bumpstarting to manually effect clutch engagement or as a locking mechanism to prevent clutch engagement.

Abstract: A reaming tool for enlarging an earth bore in a subsurface formation in which a sub is connected to a lower end of a drill string and elongated cutter blades are pivotally secured to a lower end of the body which have cutter elements preferably in the form of rotatable cutter disks along their leading edges and a fluid delivery hose leads into fluid passages in each of the cutter blades to supply fluid under pressure to a series of fluid discharge nozzles associated with the cutter elements.

Abstract: A drill bit assembly for earth boring operations in which a sub is connected to a lower end of a drill string and elongated cutter blades are pivotally secured to a lower end of the body which have cutter elements preferably in the form of rotatable cutter disks along their leading edges and a fluid delivery hose leads into fluid passages in each of the cutter blades to supply fluid under pressure to a series of fluid discharge nozzles associated with the cutter disks.

Abstract: Hand held tools have been devised for preparing and crimping cables and specifically coaxial cables for television, a first form of tool made up of a low profile body having a main channel with a threaded crimping bolt for crimping circular fittings by axial compression onto the end of the cable, and a second form has a main channel which utilizes the same crimping bolt to carry out hexagonal crimping operations; and both forms have a channel for preparing each cable end for the crimping operation in which stripper blades are pivotally mounted for movement into engagement with the cable end to strip away one or more layers of the cable under the control of an adjustable limit stop which regulates the depth of penetration of each blade.

Abstract: A fluid compressor controls opening and closing of a fluid intake port in the crankcase with a novel and improved form of gate control member which follows rotation of the crankshaft and times the opening and closing of the intake port to coordinate with the intake and discharge strokes of a piston which is reciprocal through a cylinder bore communicating with the crankcase, the piston having an intake valve, and a cylinder head at the end of the cylinder bore having only a discharge valve.

Abstract: A portable, high capacity air compressor system for charging air tanks over wide pressure ranges with maximum volumetric efficiency is characterized by employing a shuttle piston assembly in which piston pairs are arranged with axially aligned cylinder pairs to reciprocate in response to precession of a wobble plate, and each of the pistons is further characterized by being of one-piece construction with a built-in leaflet-type intake valve in its piston head, and a universal connector between each of the piston pairs and wobble plate which is stabilized within a pair of guide rails.

Abstract: An infant crib wherein the crib portion is elevated in order to accommodate a wheelchair passing under the crib bed. The invention is preferably comprised of spaced support members supporting a horizontal base member at an elevated position high enough to accommodate the seat portion of a wheelchair beneath the base member. There is at least one side panel surrounding the base member slidable laterally between a closed and open position to enable a person seated in a wheelchair to have access to an infant placed on the base member when the slide panel is in the open position. A drawer member is positioned under the base member to allow a person seated in a wheelchair to have access to any necessary items.

Abstract: A snowboard teaching and recreational device by which an instructor may direct the movement, weight shift and control the center of gravity of the pupil. The device preferably uses two parallel tubes as a support frame, with two crossbars secured to the support frame and spaced handle grips on each crossbar. The instructor grasps one end of the support frame while the pupil grasps the opposite end, thereby allowing the instructor to direct the weight shift and movements of the pupil through use of the said device.

Abstract: A reinforced concrete deck structure particularly adaptable for bridge spans is made up of superimposed layers of concrete with a corrugated metal pan therebetween along with a plurality of reinforcing bars which extend transversely of and through the corrugations. Individual, partially completed slabs are precast and are then placed on a bridge span and covered with a second layer.

Abstract: A refrigerated food preparation apparatus is made up of a cabinet having storage compartments therein and an upper sloped food handling table with a recessed portion for food container inserts having upwardly open ends to facilitate convenient access to food placed in the inserts, a supply air duct and return air duct extending along opposite sides of the food container inserts, and a refrigeration system for directing air from an evaporator section for discharge simultaneously and in separate layers across the food container inserts.

Abstract: A wear indicator is provided for use on sports balls and other articles of manufacture, the wear indicator consisting of one or more dots imprinted upon the surface of the article, each dot manifesting a different degree of resistance to wear due to article use and each dot being composed of a mixture of pigment and a rubber cement hardener in which the resistance to wear is proportional to the ratio of the hardener to the pigment, or in which each dot is of a selected thickness and wear resistance proportional to its thickness. A brand name also may be imprinted on the surface of the article either as a permanent marking or to signify a predetermined degree of wear when no longer visible to the eye.

Abstract: In a retrievable drill bit assembly, a standard drill pipe or casing pipe has a sub threaded into its lower end which forms a seat coupling for upper rounded pivotal ends of a pair of drill bits which are pivotally mounted between a pair of lift plates. The drill bits have blades extending from the pivotal ends with hardened cutter elements in staggered relation along or adjacent to the leading edge and a fluid passage leading into a series of nozzles in the blades which together with the rotational force of the drill pipe and the frictional force of the blades on the material to be bored will cause the blades to assume and maintain a mutually perpendicular position. The blades or cutters can be retrieved by a retrieval apparatus for the purpose of removal and replacement with a new set of blades.

Abstract: An aluminum alloy product of extremely high hardness is conformable for use in the manufacture of various products, such as, golf clubs and pump partshaving a body or first layer of an aluminum alloy treated by successive precipitation hardening and reverse quenching to produce a hardness exceeding 140 HBN, and an outer alumina layer or surface coating is applied by hard-anodizing to a predetermined thickness on the first layer and being of even greater hardness than the first layer.

Abstract: A protective cover assembly for electrical cables to be extended along a wall or floor surface includes interfitting U-shaped clip members and cover strips having complementary flange portions between their respective sidewalls, and the sidewalls of the clip members are provided with cable retainers to temporarily retain the cables in place during installation and spacer tabs to maintain uniform spacing with a baseboard or other trim. A re-entry tool is provided for positive separation or release of the cover strip from the clip members and specially formed slots are provided in the bases of the clip members for insertion of different types of anchor fasteners.
