  • Patent number: 5958170
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of engraving objects which circumvents the necessity of mechanically scrubbing the engraved surface to remove fillers. Specifically, in the method of the present invention, the fillers are applied directly to the resist stencil instead of being applied to the object to be engraved. Removal of the resist stencil simultaneously removes the filler from the engraved object.

  • Patent number: 5947645
Abstract: A fiber dispensing system for storing and delivering fibrous material includes a housing for receiving and storing the fibrous material. The housing has an activatable dispensing mechanism for selectively dispensing the fibrous material from the housing. A control mechanism is electrically connected to the dispensing mechanism for receiving an activation signal to activate the dispensing mechanism. A load mechanism associated with the housing and electrically connected to the control mechanism measures the weight amount of any fibrous material within the housing and transmits a weight amount data signal to the control mechanism. The control mechanism further activates a solenoid valve which in turn activates a water nozzle spray assembly for wetting of fibrous material prior to discharge into a receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5931329
Abstract: A device to adapt a coffee carafe in its height so that it may be used on a plurality of coffee makers of differing designs. It includes a hinged carafe lid adaptable to fit a coffee carafe and having an internally threaded bore located at the center of the lid, through which is threaded a hollow screw which has a substantially flat or conically-shaped surface attached to its upper end. The surface has holes that fit over the hollow portion of the screw. The height of the surface can be adjusted by rotating it so that the threads elevate or depress the substantially flat or conically-shaped surface, thereby positioning the surface immediately beneath the output spout of the coffee maker or engaging an activation switch or anti-drip valve mechanism at any portion of the coffee maker. The device may utilize a frictionally engaged cylinder within the center bore of the lid instead of the preferred threaded embodiment of the device.

  • Patent number: 5921701
Abstract: An interchange for improving vehicular traffic flow through an intersection of surface streets includes a cross-shaped bridge supported over the intersection at a height to allow through traffic to proceed underneath. Crossed arms of the bridge are mutually aligned with the intersecting surface streets and carry four turning lanes each having an entrance end on one arm and an exit end on an adjacent arm for turning traffic arriving at the entrance end through a center-turning 90.degree. curve before leaving the exit end. Four up-ramps, one aligned with the entrance end of each turning lane, convey onto the bridge left-turning traffic from a respective surface street, and four down-ramps, one aligned with the exit end of each turning lane and located adjacent to an up-ramp, convey traffic proceeding along a turning lane back to ground level for merging with surface street through traffic proceeding through the intersection.

  • Patent number: 5899018
Abstract: A device and method of termite detection and control, where the device is a housing having an interior, and an upper and lower end, and the housing is adapted to capture the natural thermal radiation of the sun when implanted into the ground. The lower end of the housing has an opening to the interior for access by termites when the lower end of the housing is implanted within the ground. The upper end of the housing includes an opening and a transparent cover for placing a moisture-absorbing attractant and, selectively, a poisoned bait, within the interior, and the attractant is visible through the cover. During the day, the device uses the thermal radiation of the sun to heat the attractant which absorbs moisture from the soil. At night, the attractant releases the moisture into the soil, creating a temperature anomaly readily detectable by termites.

  • Patent number: 5899495
Abstract: An air bag system is provided that limits the forward projection of the air bag and reduces production costs wherein folded portions are formed by folding the peripheral portion of a flatly spread air bag along folding lines which are provided at specified locations. The formed folded portions are constrained by stitched portions which are formed by stitching folded-down portions with thread. The air bag is then folded into a size so as to be constrained in a cover. When gas is injected from an inflator, the air bag tears the cover and projects forward and at the same time the stitched portions limit the distance by which the air bag projects forward. As the internal pressure in the air bag increases, the stitched portions break and the folded portions are unfolded so that the air bag expands radially.

  • Patent number: 5868041
Abstract: A steering which reduces vibration and is shock absorbing and deformable. The steering wheel comprises a rim and a boss with a plurality of spokes, the rim, boss and spokes having a core metal. A reinforced spoke-core metal has a spoke deformation region which is a part of the reinforced portion and is thinner than the remaining part of the reinforced portion. A raised portion is included on the driver-side of each spoke deformation region which increases the strength of core metals and restricts vibration of the core metals. The configuration creates a weak point for collapsing the steering wheel in a collision and impact with the steering wheel by the driver, that is, the raised portions receives tensile forces and break, thereby smoothly bending core metal bodies.
