  • Patent number: 4615176
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus is disclosed for rapidly cooling and simultaneously maintaining a high moisture content in freshly slaughtered meat products and the like placed in a controlled environment chamber through which preconditioned air is circulated. This is achieved by limiting the air temperature rise by utilizing air flow rates past the product at a level such as to cause the air to increase in temperature from entry into the chamber to exit from the chamber by no more than approximately two degrees F. and by providing a cooling apparatus which reduces the temperature of the air while removing free water from it yet is capable of maintaining the relative humidity of the air at no less than ninety percent.

  • Patent number: 4525679
Abstract: A Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) high gain amplifying stage which overcomes the inherently low transconductance, gm, of MOS transistors is described. This is achieved by using a specially configured load transistor in combination with a driver transistor. The load transistor is provided, by means of positive feedback, with a current generator which is dependent on the output voltage of the stage and has an effective negative output conductance. The positive feedback is achieved by connecting an appropriate attenuation stage between the output and the input of the load transistor. By the cancellation of output conductances between the driver and load transistors, a near infinite voltage gain can be achieved despite resistive loading at the output of the amplifier. The MOS amplifying stage has application in amplifiers, comparators and oscillators.

  • Patent number: 4521904
Abstract: A method of taking an X-ray photograph by using a cassette containing an X-ray film and a stimulable phosphor sheet maintained in close contact with each other in a light shielding case. When the cassette is exposed to X-rays through an object, an X-ray transmission image of the object is recorded on the stimulable phosphor sheet and, at the same time, the X-ray film is exposed to light instantaneously emitted from the stimulable phosphor sheet upon exposure to X-rays to record a photographic latent image of the X-ray transmission image of the object on the X-ray film. The X-ray film may be provided with an emulsion layer only on the side facing the stimulable phosphor sheet, or may be provided with emulsion layers on both sides. In the latter case, an intensifying screen may be positioned on the side of the X-ray film opposite to the stimulable phosphor sheet.

  • Patent number: 4508076
Abstract: The idling speed of an internal combustion engine is controlled by controlling the position of a control valve disposed in the intake system of the engine to control the amount of intake air fed to the engine. A desired idling speed is determined according to the operating condition of the engine and the control valve is moved to a temporary target position which is expected to be suitable to obtain the desired idling speed. Then feedback control is carried out to converge the actual idling speed to the desired idling speed. When the actual idling speed is finally equalized to the desired idling speed, the actual position of the control valve at that moment is detected and memorized to be adopted as the temporary target position for the same operating condition in later control of the idling speed.
