  • Patent number: 5660597
Abstract: A portable, compact, self-contained child pacifying device is disclosed for use with infant support structures. The device may be attached to such infant support structures through attachment means allowing ready attachment and removal of the pacifying device. The attachment means may include projecting tabs or a pivotable retaining arm located proximate a vibration dampening means. A biasing means retains the attachment means and the pacifying device in position. The device comprises an integral outer case structure within which a battery powered vibratory source is mounted to produce a vibrating motion. The outer case structure attaches to the child carrier through a mounting arrangement fixedly attached to the exterior of the case structure and attachable to the infant support structure.

  • Patent number: 5658977
Abstract: Cold water insoluble, hot water soluble and/or dispersible, disposable films, fabrics and other useful articles of manufacture are formed from a miscible polymeric resin blend comprised of cold water soluble partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol, cold water insoluble hot water disintegrable aliphatic polyester, and minor proportions of processing and performance aids. The aliphatic polyester has a melt temperature above the normal body temperature of a human (37 degrees C.; 98.6 degrees F.) and is present in the resin blend at a concentration sufficient to constitute the continuous phase of the blend, with the polyvinyl alcohol constituting a discontinuous phase of the blend. The aliphatic polyester thus renders the resin blend, and the partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol in the blend, cold water insoluble and determines the temperature at which articles formed from the blend will be subject to dissolution in an aqueous bath and subsequent disposal in an environmentally and ecologically sound fashion.

  • Patent number: 5658258
Abstract: The applicator is assembled from an integral injection-molded part which includes an elongated flat strap from which a piston member projects at a right angle to one side and, at some distance therefrom, a cylinder member including a canula molded thereon projects at a right angle to the other side. The strap forms two spring arms of which the one, being bent by 180.degree., is first slid over the piston head with a recess. Subsequently, the cylinder is also fit onto the piston head, with the strap section that connects the piston to the cylinder head being also bent by 180.degree.. The piston head snaps in a rear position into the cylinder. The two biased spring arms always bias the piston in the direction of the rear end position, so that the applicator can be operated with one hand to take, for instance, blood from a container.

  • Patent number: 5653561
Abstract: A swarf boot comprises a flexible and elastic, generally frusta-conical, unitary member for capturing swarf, cuttings, dust and debris from drilling operations. The boot has two open ends, namely a proximal end adapted to receive and hold a drill body, and a distal end adapted to engage a surface to be drilled. In between the two ends, the swarf booth comprises a generally frusta-conical, corrugated body. The drill chuck is received within the interior of the boot. The inside dimension of the boot is substantially larger than the outside diameter of the chuck. Thereby, the boot surrounds but does not come in contact with the drill chuck, allowing the chuck rotate freely while the boot of the invention remains stationary. Optionally, the boot may include a outlet conduit for attachment to a vacuum to remove swarf during drilling operations. The boot may also include a handle on the distal end of the boot.

  • Patent number: 5637808
Abstract: A sampling apparatus is characterized by a housing having a liquid product flow passage and an outlet port extending between the passage and the housing exterior. A plunger having a recess toward its nose extends across the passage and the nose of the plunger is received in the outlet port. The plunger is reciprocable between a first position where the recess is in communication with the passage to receive in the recess a sample of liquid product and a second position where the recess is moved out of the passage and through the outlet port into communication with a sample collection point to the exterior of the housing to deliver the product sample to the collection point. • Patent number: 5627438
Abstract: A pulsing drive system delivers pulsed power signal of the driven wheels of a vehicle for improving the efficiency internal combustion or an electric motor driven vehicles. A controller receives signals such as velocity and demand, and communicates to a means for selectively communicating energy wherein the means for selectively communicating energy converts the pulse signal to a correspondingly conditioned power pulse for powering the vehicle. When combined with a plurality of motors sized with optimal horsepower ranges according to a binary array, an arrangement of such motors provides for an optimally efficient operation of the vehicle by bringing on-line strategically selected combinations of the motors. A control system selectively brings on-line the multiple motors.

  • Patent number: 5603767
Abstract: A fountain applicator for applying coating liquid onto a web of paper carried past the applicator, has a coating liquid flow path that includes a curved surface along which a sheet of the coating liquid is flowed to subject the sheet to centrifugal force to cause air entrained in the coating liquid to move away from one side of the sheet that is toward the curved surface, so that the one side is relatively free of entrained air. After being flowed along the curved surface, the sheet of coating liquid is directed toward the web in a free standing jet curtain of coating liquid, to contact the web surface primarily with the one relatively air-free side of the coating liquid sheet to decrease the occurrence of skip coating on the web surface, especially when the web is traveling past the applicator at high speeds. The coating is applied in excess onto the web surface and is metered and leveled to a desired coat weight by a downstream doctor.
