Abstract: A Metal-Clad cable that includes at least two conductor assemblies within a metal armored sheath. Each conductor assembly has an electrical conductor, an insulation layer extending around and along the length of each of the electrical conductors, a jacket layer disposed around the insulating layer and a polymeric protective layer disposed around the jacket layer along the length of each of the electrical conductors. A grounding/bonding strip is disposed within the cable and is in intimate contact with an interior surface of the metal sheath. If a grounding conductor is used, it is either in cabled relationship with the two conductor assemblies or is disposed along the length of the electrical conductors and the metal sheath is disposed over the at least two conductor assemblies and the grounding conductor.

  • Patent number: 8085653
Abstract: Beamforming with nulling techniques for wireless communications networks are disclosed. For example, an apparatus may include a beamforming module and a weight determination module. The beamforming module applies beamforming weights to a downlink user channel with a first mobile station. The weight determination module determines the beamforming weights based on user channel information and interfering channel information. This user channel information is received from the first mobile station and includes characteristics of the downlink user channel. However, the interfering channel information includes characteristics of one or more downlink interfering channels received by one or more further mobile stations. These downlink interfering channels are associated with transmissions across the downlink user channel with the first mobile station.

  • Patent number: 8077027
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for recording and evaluating faults in event transmissions between security system components. A panel in a monitored building may send event signals to a receiver located in a central monitoring facility. Event signals may represent a status of individual alarms or sensors in the building, or they may provide a status of the system as a whole. If the quality of the transmission is substandard or in a format that is unacceptable to the receiver, the signal data associated with the event is recorded for analysis. Recording is controlled by a line card associated with the receiver, and the signal data is stored in local or remote memory. Signal data can be manually or automatically analyzed to determine the source of the fault. In addition, recorded signal data can be used to build customized software to recognize signals from previously unrecognized or faulty panels.

  • Patent number: 8077008
Abstract: A varistor has a disc of ceramic material having opposed faces with face edges. There is an electrode on each face with a gap between each electrode and the edge of the face. Glass passivation is on at least one face in the gap, the passivation not extending from one electrode to the other electrode around the surface of the disc. Because the passivation is only on the planar opposed disc faces, it may be applied in a simple operation such as screen printing. Indeed, the screen printing may be performed while the discs are in the same nest plates as are used for printing of electrode paste. Even though the passivation does not extend from one electrode to the other, it nevertheless breaks a potentially conductive path between the electrodes caused by interaction between the ceramic and encapsulant materials.
