  • Patent number: 5987702
Abstract: A connecting device, particularly for mutually connecting components of eyeglasses such as temples and a front and/or a lens and a lens and/or an eyewire and an eyewire and/or a temple and a temple. The device is constituted by at least one element which is detachably associable, with an interlocking action, with at least one of the components, in contrast with at least one flexible element, and can be pivoted to the other component. The device is structurally simple, easy and straightforward to assemble, and at the same time allows to achieve, for example, the extrawide opening of the temple at a low cost and without seizing.

  • Patent number: 5980037
Abstract: An electric connection configuration for an electro-optical device comprises a brow bar member which houses the electronics of the device, and a pair of flexible conductor tabs which attach to the electronics in the housing and extend therefrom to form electrodes for connection to the lenses. When the brow bar is attached to the frame, the conductor tabs hang over the frame and extend within the space formed by the eye openings of the frame. As the lenses are fitted into a respective eye opening, the flexible conductor tabs are folded back such that they become sandwiched between the edge of the lens and the frame. In a preferred embodiment, the flexible conductor tabs each form a positive electrode, and a pair of screws, which also serve to attach the brow bar to the frame, each form a negative electrode for attachment to a respective lens.

  • Patent number: 5977527
Abstract: A fixture for an induction brazing station includes a removable front plate on which is mounted a work piece holder. The base of the induction unit mounts to a back plate lying coplanar with the front plate on the work surface. The coil of the induction unit is uniquely matched to the front plate and the work piece holder. The induction coil removably mounts to the front plate when not in use such that the front plate may be removed from the work surface with the work piece holder and coil mounted thereon. A different front plate may then be mounted upon the work surface having a different coil configuration and work piece holder. The coil(s) are removed from the front plate and attached to the induction base on the back plate. The coil extends to the work piece holder on the front plate in the correct position. The invention provides for quick changeover between different induction units at a single work station.

  • Patent number: 5972251
Abstract: A contact lens button and a block are integrally formed together when the contact lens button is cast in a cup having an aperture formed in the center of the bottom wall of the cup. The block has a first elongated end forming a spindle and a second end which is of circular, generally planar configuration. The spindle end is inserted through the aperture in the bottom wall of the cup providing an interference fit with the circular end portion located inside the cup spaced parallel to and slightly upwardly from the bottom wall, and the first spindle end extends exteriorly of the cup. A quantity of liquid lens material is dispensed into the cup, completely surrounding the circular end portion of the block. The material cures around the block second end, with the formed button and block removable from the cup as a single unit. The block first end is secured to a lathe chuck for rotating the button to cut the concave base surface of the lens.
