  • Patent number: 6094744
Abstract: A partial covering is provided to be received within and protect a collar of an outer garment, as well as then cover the shoulder and back portions thereof, from stains and like damage during hair treatments at beauty salons. Consisting of a triangular piece of fabric, when the central point is inserted within the collar of the outer garment, the edges defining the opposed triangular sides extend across the shoulder, each terminating at an outer triangular point. The triangular base then extends across the back of the outer garment. A rectangular fabric extension is preferably provided and is centrally attached to the triangular base, extending therefrom to provide further protection to the central back portion of the outer garment.

  • Patent number: 6003192
Abstract: A hand tool consisting of a flexible blade with a working edge is provided for use with a cementitious material to permit the forming and finishing of columns and other curved surfaces of relatively large radii. A pair of gripping surfaces are formed in the flexible blade, consisting of handles to which handgrips have been attached. To enhance the ability of the user to control the curvature of the working edge, the handgrips are attached to the handles in a manner such that a portion of the handgrip overlies and is supported by the outer, lateral portion of the handle. Such an arrangement permits the user to apply force through the handgrips directly to the outer periphery of the flexible blade.

  • Patent number: 5990938
Abstract: An apparatus and method for an improved security system employing a video camera and video recorder is disclosed. Recordation of the video signals from the video camera by the video recorder is controlled by activation of a remotely mounted switch that monitors the status of a controlled access area. When an activation switch is placed adjacent an access door to a retail display cabinet, recordation of the video signals depicting that area will occur only when the access door is opened, generating a signal from the door switch as to the status of the access door ("open"). Upon closing the access door, a second signal is generated by the switch, terminating the recording of the video signals. In this manner video signals are only recorded during such time as access restrictions are compromised.

  • Patent number: 5950384
Abstract: A sheet metal ventilation louver is fabricated out of two types of blades, a center and a top/bottom blade, that are shaped in a manner that permits their slidable engagement with an outer support frame. The side panels making up the outer frame are fabricated out of sheet metal rectangles that have been bent, with slots formed in the bent areas at locations enabling the slidable receipt of the blades within the side panel slots. An outer frame then fits around the side panels, retaining both the side panels and their received blades in position, completing the ventilation louver.

  • Patent number: 5944316
Abstract: A method for playing a card game having wagering opportunities. Wagering selections are made from among a group of possible playing card outcomes, with the winning outcome selected using a specialized die. After all bets have been placed, a single playing card is dealt face down at each of certain pre-identified locations. Indicia on each of the faces of the die collectively correspond to each of the pre-identified locations. The indicia observed on the up-turned face of the die after its throwing or tumbling determines the location at which the playing card is turned over. The turned-over card is considered to be the "winning" playing card, and its value is used to settle all bets prior to initiation of a new game.

  • Patent number: 5941434
Abstract: A holder/carrier temporarily attaches to and supports small items of multiple configurations. Using multiple, flexible straps that are each attached to a support base, the item is enwrapped and retained against the support base. An attachment mechanism, such as a retaining clip, is affixed to the support base, and is utilized to selectively attach the support base, along with the carried, enwrapped item, to a separate supporting structure, such as a waistband, belt or other, suitably-shaped, receiving structures. Additionally, by securing an attachment device that is cooperative with the support base attachment mechanism to another support surface, whether on a permanent or temporary basis, the attachment mechanism may be attached to support surfaces that would not otherwise be suitable.

  • Patent number: 5921711
Abstract: A subsurface fluid distribution system for sewage effluent and irrigation water utilizes one or more arrays of serially connected leaching chambers. Each leaching chamber is a double-walled construction of arch-shaped cross section with an open bottom and closed ends. A plurality of vertically off-set openings are formed in the inner and outer walls, with the inner openings located at a higher liquid level than the outer openings to prevent clogging of the leaching chambers by either sand or root growth. The leaching chambers are connected to one another to permit fluid communication between adjacent chambers, and are installed below ground in shallow trenches that are backfilled with sand and then topped with top soil. The sewage effluent or irrigation water flows through the array of leaching chambers in an unpressurized flow.
