Abstract: A process is described for the continuous thermal cracking of hydrocarbon oils, which process comprises heating a hydrocarbon oil feed, introducing the hot feed into a soaking vessel having its interior divided into a plurality of consecutive, interconnected compartments, and causing hot liquid to pass through the consecutive compartments prior to withdrawal of liquid material from the soaking vessel. The gas present in each compartment is collected and is separately withdrawn from the soaking vessel.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improved process for the production of liquid carbonaceous fuels and solvents from carbonaceous solid fuels, especially coal. The claimed improved process includes the hydrocracking of the light SRC mixed with a suitable hydrocracker solvent. The recycle of the resulting hydrocracked product, after separation and distillation, is used to produce a solvent for the hydrocracking of the light solvent refined coal.

Abstract: An automated apparatus for the solvent separation of a coal liquefaction product stream that operates continuously and unattended and eliminates potential errors resulting from subjectivity and the aging of the sample during analysis. In use of the apparatus, metered amounts of one or more solvents are passed sequentially through a filter containing the sample under the direction of a microprocessor control means. The mixture in the filter is agitated by means of ultrasonic cavitation for a timed period and the filtrate is collected. The filtrate of each solvent extraction is collected individually and the residue on the filter element is collected to complete the extraction process.
Abstract: A kneeling platform particularly suitable for carrying to worksites having uncomfortable or hazardous supporting surfaces and which may be reached only by climbing. The platform comprises a frame with a padded upper surface, a curved appendage at one edge capable of being hooked over the shoulder to enable carrying of the platform while leaving both arms free and feet mounted on the lower surface of the frame capable of the stable support of the platform on the supporting surface in question. The platform may be fitted with various storage and attachment means for tools and materials.
Abstract: An improved SRC-I two-stage coal liquefaction process which improves the product slate is provided. Substantially all of the net yield of 650.degree.-850.degree. F. heavy distillate from the LC-Finer is combined with the SRC process solvent, substantially all of the net 400.degree.-650.degree. F. middle distillate from the SRC section is combined with the hydrocracker solvent in the LC-Finer, and the initial boiling point of the SRC process solvent is increased sufficiently high to produce a net yield of 650.degree.-850.degree. F. heavy distillate of zero for the two-stage liquefaction process.
