  • Patent number: 8333333
Abstract: A dust-control apparatus may be used in combination with tilling, cultivating, harvesting, construction machinery, and other mobile soil treatment implements. The apparatus applies mist to dust particles where the mist is created by pumping water or other liquid through nozzles. Because the apparatus is used in combination with the operation of the dust-generating machinery, the dust suppressing mist is applied nearly simultaneously to the generation of the dust by the agitation of the soil by the machinery. In one embodiment of the device, the operation of the pump or valves which control liquid flow to the nozzles is automatically activated by a optical sensor. The optical sensors cause either the starting of a pump or opening of a valve thereby increasing or decreasing the pressure and/or volume of the liquid upon the dust level reaching a preset trigger point as detected by the sensor.

  • Patent number: 8292560
Abstract: A modified anchor device for attaching a structure to a thin-walled work piece allows a structure, such as a luggage or utility rack, to be attached to a work piece, such as an automobile roof, without threaded fasteners connecting the structure to the work piece. The anchor device has an double-sectioned head having an upper head member and a lower head member The upper head member extends above the surface of the work piece a sufficient distance such that the upper head member engages the top surface of the structure, thus retaining the bottom side of the structure in face-to-face contact with the top side of the work piece.

  • Patent number: 8104960
Abstract: A portable and sealable waste disposal receptacle receives human waste material through an opening in an outer chamber. The waste passes through an inner chamber, which is suspended within the outer chamber, and passes through a one-way valve located at the bottom of the inner chamber into a lower chamber portion of the outer chamber. The one-way valve is fashioned from the bottom edges of the inner chamber, where a biasing strip is mounted in compression along one of the bottom edges, which causes the bottom edges of the inner chamber to be biased closed in sealing contact except when waste enters the inner chamber, the weight of which is sufficient to overcome the closing bias of the biasing strip, allowing the waste to flow into the lower chamber. Once the waste has cleared the inner chamber, the biasing member causes the bottom edges to come together in sealing contact, preventing the flow of waste back through the inner chamber.

  • Patent number: 7918836
Abstract: The ostomy bag comprises an outer chamber comprising an upper portion and a lower portion, and an inner chamber. The inner chamber may comprise a one-way valve that limits the back flow of the bodily wastes from the lower portion of the bag to the upper portion. The one-way valve may comprise a biasing member and the biasing member may have a length that is longer then the length of the bottom of the inner chamber walls. The bag may comprise an irrigation system that provides for the flushing of both the inner and the outer chambers simultaneously. The irrigation tube of the irrigation system may comprise slits along the portion of the irrigation tube that resides within the inner chamber and the lower portion of the outer chamber.

  • Patent number: 7547356
Abstract: Synthetic asphalt and petroleum asphalt modified synthetic asphalt emulsions which contain recycled tire rubber and processes for making the emulsions at temperatures above ambient or room temperature. These emulsions may contain significant quantities of recycled tire rubber and recycled and reclaimed motor oils and fluxes. In addition, aluminum chloride and ferric chloride may be used in clay-in-water solutions to form emulsifying agents for the synthetic asphalt and modified synthetic asphalt mixtures.

  • Patent number: 7530213
Abstract: A capsule orienting and separation apparatus is provided which allows a multiplicity of gelatin capsule shells to be uniformly oriented in a separable condition and for the caps of those shells to be separated from the capsule bodies. The apparatus allows a multiplicity of capsule shells all to be concurrently oriented in an upright disposition by a manually operated mechanism. The capsule caps are all uniformly oriented atop the capsule bodies and are exposed for gripping by a capsule cap lift assembly. The capsule caps are concurrently lifted from the capsule bodies while the capsule bodies remain in position in a matrix of openings in a capsule receiving tray. The capsules can then be filled with capsule filler material and tamped down as appropriate. The capsule caps are then all concurrently replaced on the capsule bodies and the capsule caps and capsule bodies are then concurrently permanently sealed together.

  • Patent number: 7521628
Abstract: A string musical instrument, such as an electric guitar, comprises a plurality of sound pickups and a user interface which allows the user rapid access to various configurations of pickup settings and connections. An embodiment of the musical instrument has a user interface which allows quick access to all forty-seven possible pickup connections available in a guitar having three single-coil pickups. Another embodiment of the invention allows rapid to access a large number of possible pickup connections made possible with the use of dual coil pickups, or a combination of single-coil and dual-coil pickups on a single guitar. The different pickup configurations are accessed via user operated controls such as clear illuminated momentary buttons or touch pads. Although the musical instrument provides a large number of accessible pickup configurations, a user display makes the determination of the pickup configuration intuitive and relatively simple.
