Abstract: An internal combustion engine spark ignition system includes two inductors and a circuit for transferring energy from the inductors to a common spark circuit when current flow through the inductors is interrupted. Two transistors control current flow in the respective inductors and these are controlled by a control circuit which turns on and then off just one of the transistors when a normal spark is required, and which turns on both transistors and then turns these alternately on and off when an extended spark is required.
Abstract: A means for controlling the change of thickness of lines of photographically produced briefs which are producible by the agency of a means for photographic reproduction. A control area means comprises at least two area element means, whereby the smallest width of which and the smallest mutual distance of which corresponds to the tolerance of the thickness of lines of a print.
Abstract: Sausages are made by stuffing a meat emulsion into a thermosealable tubular casing, effecting preliminary sealing of the casing into "sausage lengths", at least partially cooking the product and then effecting a final sealing at the site of the preliminary seals which seals are wider than the preliminary seals and thereby compress the meat into the unsealed portion of the tube.
Abstract: Novel stable insulin preparations with protracted action and reduced or no antigenicity are obtained by reacting insulin free of antigenic impurities with an organic compound having basic amino groups, preferably a basic polypeptide or a cleavage product of a basic polypeptide, such as protamine, in a buffered protein dissociating or protein depolymerizing aqueous medium. Examples of preferred protein dissociating or protein depolymerizing media are aqueous solutions containing urea, a lower alkanol dialkylformamide, acetamide, N-alkyl-acetamide or acetonitrile.

Abstract: This invention concerns finned tubes for use in heat exchanging whereby the fins have a generally T or Y shape. There is disclosed process and apparatus for making these Y and T-finned tubes whereby a smooth tube is subjected to conventional rolling process with the ends of the fins being subsequently notched into Y-fins and, if desired, subsequently flattened into T-fins. According to other embodiments of the invention the T-fins are constructed by an apparatus including an oblique surface which contacts the conventionally constructed fins causing the fins to be flattened into a general T shape.

Abstract: A nasogastric catheter comprises a tube of relatively flexible material defining a main duct extending from one end of the tube to the other end thereof, and first and second inflatable vessels which are mounted at the exterior of the tube and through which the tube extends. The vessels are situated along the tube approximately three-quarters of the way along the tube from the one end to the other end and are spaced from one another along the tube. First and second subsidiary conduits extend within the tube from the one end and communicate with the first and second vessels respectively but are isolated from said main duct. The tube is formed with at least one lateral perforation between the first and second vessels and a plurality of lateral perforations after the second vessel, the lateral perforations establishing communication between the main duct and the exterior of the tube.
Abstract: A device for closing off the space defined between an inner pipe and an outer shield tube comprises a sleeve of flexible resilient material having one end portion whose internal diameter is substantially equal to the external diameter of the inner end, a second end portion whose internal diameter is substantially equal to the external diameter of the shield tube, and an intermediate portion of substantially frusto-conical form joining the first and second end portions. The sleeve also has a tubular appendix which is joined to the intermediate portion of the sleeve and extends substantially parallel to the axis of the inner pipe and the shield tube for accomodating a signal transmitting cable. Angle plates are provided, with each having an axial portion extending over the extension of the shield tube at one end thereof and a radial portion extending at least part of the way from the axial portion across the clearance between the shield tube and the inner pipe.

Abstract: A rotary piston/cylinder engine comprises a rotor assembly which is mounted to rotate about an axis of rotation and comprises a double-headed piston member and a double-headed cylinder member defining two cylinders in which two pistons of the piston members reciprocate respectively. One of the members is mounted to rotate about the axis of rotation of the rotor assembly, while the other member is mounted to rotate about a crank axis which is offset from the axis of rotation of the rotor assembly. Thus, the pistons reciprocate relative to the cylinders as the rotor assembly rotates.
