Abstract: The invention relates to an electromechanical device comprising a package and at least one component surface-mounted in the package, characterized in that it also comprises at least one nanotube-based interface providing a mechanical link for vibratory and thermal filtering between said component and the package. Advantageously, the nanotube-based interface can also serve as an electrical and/or thermal interface with the electrical contacts with which the package is equipped.
Abstract: An improved venturi apparatus for the incorporation of air into a liquid. The preferred embodiment of the invention comprises an entry section, a cylindrical section, and an outflow section. Lateral tubes extend from the cylindrical section so as to form an acute angle relative to both the central and cross-sectional axes of the cylindrical section, thereby preventing leakage of liquid out through the lateral tubes during use and subsequent handling. The entry section includes a breather tube connected to the cylindrical section.
Abstract: A method for providing an analog or digital circuit that senses both low and high input voltage and operates to disconnect both line and neutral electrical power connections to a protected device when abnormally low or high voltages are received from a single- or multi-phase power source, and reconnects the protected device when input power has stabilized. The sensing circuit and power supply is functional with voltages up to at least 240 Vac. The nominal 120 Vac circuit is designed to withstand a 6 kilovolt surge without damage. The method does not disconnect the ground line during an out-of-tolerance voltage condition.

Abstract: The device facilitates the verification of conformity between an anticipated digital image, or reference image, and a digital image actually obtained. The device implements a method that makes it possible to quickly and effectively distinguish the differences between a reference image and an obtained image. The device comprises receiving an input of two images, reference and obtained, and producing as output a single image, resulting from the merging of the two input images in which the portions common to both images are represented in shades of grey, the differences between the first and the second image being represented in green or red depending on whether they belong to the first or the second image.

Abstract: The invention relates to the writing and optical reading of high-density information. The higher energy density at the center of the reading laser beam is used for modifying the energy structure of an active layer in such a way as to make it capable of bearing surface plasmons. The coupling of the laser beam and the active layer thus modified can then excite surface plasmons in an interface between a dielectric layer and the active layer. These surface plasmons are disturbed by physical marks having very small dimensions and written in the optical storage medium; these disturbances generate a remote-field optical response which can be detected by a detector. The operation is carried out in super-resolution, the surface plasmons being generated only at the center of the laser beam and not at the periphery. It is therefore possible to write and to read again marks having dimensions of size smaller than the theoretical resolution of the optical reading system.
Abstract: The electro-optical system for determining the attitude of a mobile part comprises a fixed part and a mobile part, the fixed part being linked rigidly with at least one virtual image plane. The mobile part is linked rigidly with at least one first linear electro-optical device defining a first direction vector, the calculation of the position of the vanishing point of the projection of the straight line comprising the first direction vector in the image plane determining a first direction, representing the direction of the mapping of the first direction vector in the image plane, and a first choice of a first point of the projection in the image plane of the straight line comprising the first direction vector determining a first sense, representing the sense of the mapping of the first direction vector in the image plane.
Abstract: A temperature activated switching circuit 100, comprising a temperature activated switch U1 for switching an output 102 at a threshold temperature, the temperature activated switch U1 having at least one power input VCC for receiving power; and power switching circuitry for connecting a power source to said power input VCC of the temperature activated switch U1, the power source being initially disconnected from the power input VCC, and the power switching circuitry being configured to connect said power source to the power input VCC based on a detected temperature, in order to power up the temperature activated switch U1 before said detected temperature reaches said threshold temperature.
Abstract: The invention relates to a surface acoustic wave resonator produced on a cut substrate with propagation axes for which a nonzero directivity exists and comprising at least one central transducer (Tc) exhibiting a central axis, a first array of reflectors (R1) and a second array of reflectors (R2), said arrays being situated on either side of said transducer, characterized in that the two arrays of reflectors exhibit nonsymmetric configurations with respect to the central axis of said central transducer. The introduction of an asymmetry makes it possible to strongly attenuate the parasitic resonances which may appear when the resonators are produced notably on piezoelectric substrates of quartz type or any other material and cut with propagation axes for which there exists a natural directivity (LiTaO3, LiNbO3, langasite, GaPO4, LiB4O7, KNbO3, etc.).

Abstract: A system and method for optimizing the performance of RF devices having a transmitter and an antenna that function at multiple frequencies. Due to regulatory limits on radiation output, and because antenna gain varies with frequency, transmitter power has been constrained by the highest efficiency point of the antenna. According to the present invention, the optimal power setting is empirically determined for each frequency, and stored in a data table. When an operational frequency is selected for the RF device, the data table is consulted to determine the appropriate power setting for the transmitter.
Abstract: The invention relates to the field of micro- and nanotechnologies. In these techniques, it is sometimes necessary to glue several structures face to face and it is important to be able to check the alignment of the structures. A new method for measuring alignment, which comprises the following operations, is proposed for this purpose: activation of a heating element placed on the surface of the first structure, generation of electronic signals representative of a distribution of temperatures, on the basis of an array of temperature sensitive elements placed on the surface of the second structure, determination of a relative position of the heating element with respect to the array of sensitive elements, therefore of the first structure with respect to the second, on the basis of the distribution of temperatures, in a calculation circuit receiving the electronic signals engendered in the array of sensitive elements.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing improved intelligibility of contemporaneously perceived audio signals. Differentiation cues are added to monaural audio signals to allow a listener to more effectively comprehend information contained in one or more of the signals. In a specific embodiment, a listener wearing stereo headphones listens to simultaneous monaural radio broadcasts from different stations. A differentiation cue is added to at least one of the audio signals from the radio reception to allow the listener to more effectively focus on and differentiate between the broadcasts.
