Abstract: A wireless connection apparatus which scans radio frequency bands for local quiet unused, vacant, or unassigned frequencies which the apparatus can use, on a temporary basis, to establish a link for communicating between a portable multimedia device and a nearby RBDS/RDS configured receiver or source. The apparatus does not interfere with or utilize frequencies actively in use by an assigned user.
Abstract: An improved venturi apparatus for the incorporation of air into a liquid. The preferred embodiment of the invention comprises a funnel section, a cylindrical section, and a frusto-conical section. Lateral tubes extend from the cylindrical section so as to form an acute angle relative to the central axis of the cylindrical section, thereby preventing leakage of liquid out through the lateral tubes during use and subsequent handling.
Abstract: The general field of the invention is that of rate gyros, of the matter-wave type, allowing the measurement of a speed of rotation in a given direction of measurement. This type of rate gyro works by the Sagnac effect and uses ultracold atoms to perform the measurement. It necessarily comprises an atom trap allowing a cloud of ultracold atoms to be immobilized in a given configuration and means for separation-displacement-recombination of the cloud into two packets of atoms so as to make them trace out a given area.
Abstract: The invention generally pertains to the field of solid immersion lenses for optical applications in high resolution microscopy. The lens of the invention includes a spherical sector limited by a planar surface and an object having nanometric dimensions arranged on the planar surface at the focus of said solid immersion lens. A light-opaque layer having a central opening with nanometric dimensions can be provided on the planar surface, said opening being centred on the focus of the solid immersion lens. The nano-object can be a tube or a thread having a cylindrical shape. The lens of the invention can be made using lithography techniques.

Abstract: The invention relates to electronic integrated circuits capable of operating either in active mode or in standby mode and of having, in standby mode, a very low current consumption. According to the invention, the leakage current of a power transistor inserted in series between a supply terminal and an active circuit is controlled by a gate reverse overbias in the following manner: a voltage step-up charge pump generates a gate bias voltage from pulses delivered by an oscillator having its frequency controlled by a current. The control current Ic is the leakage current of a transistor having technological characteristics similar to those of the power transistor. The system optimizes the current consumption in standby mode, the frequency of the oscillator being reduced when the gate is biased so as to minimize the leakage current. The invention is applicable to circuits powered by a battery or a cell (mobile telephones, cameras, portable computers, etc.).
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved synthesis for the manufacture of candesartan and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and esters thereof as active ingredients of a medicament for the treatment of hypertension and related diseases and conditions which comprises the removal of the tetrazolyl protecting group in an organic solvent, and in the presence of a Lewis acid.
