  • Patent number: 7204335
Abstract: An interlock device for measuring the sobriety of a potential vehicle operator is coupled to the starting mechanism of the vehicle. The interlock device includes a microprocessor controlled handset and base unit. The base unit encloses relays to preclude the starting mechanism from engaging if a predetermined acceptable threshold level of blood alcohol content has been exceeded. The relays receive a signal, through the base unit microprocessor, from the handset microprocessor which has calculated the blood alcohol content of a breath sample introduced into the handset by the vehicle operator. A breath sampling housing is enclosed within the handset in axial alignment with an intake port of the handset. A water filter and valve are positioned upstream from an electrochemical fuel cell. The fuel cell is coupled to the microprocessor. A pressure transducer measures the pressure of the breath sample.

  • Patent number: 7185381
Abstract: A ramp for accessing a truck cab. A planar platform extends outwardly from the top step of the truck cab and has a straight edge that is substantially perpendicular to the axis of movement of the truck cab. A support member extends between the underside of the planar platform and the lower step of the truck cab. An inclined ramp is affixed to the straight edge of the planar platform and extends between the planar platform and the ground outwardly at an angle of less than 45 degrees from the axis of movement. The ramp and planar platform fold for easy storage outside the steps or inside the truck cab.

  • Patent number: 7160256
Abstract: A disposable device for collection of uncontaminated urine samples from small children comprising a sterile container with an inlet that eliminates direct contact between the wearers skin and the inside of the container, and which is initially closed by a delaying mechanism consisting of, e.g. a water soluble adhesive substance or material. The flow to the container is initially hindered by the delaying mechanism located in the inlet of the container. This causes the initial portion of fluid, which may be contaminated with bacteria, to be absorbed by an absorbing layer whereafter the inlet is automatically opened so that the remaining fluid can reach the container essentially uncontaminated.

  • Patent number: 7140388
Abstract: A unitary valve housing has an upper and lower portion. The upper portion has an inner chamber for accommodating two spaced apart balls and a cylindrical side skirt with oppositely positioned openings. The lower portion is cylindrical in shape and has a top shelf with adjacent circular openings for seating the two balls and openings communicating with a bottom of the lower portion. The two openings on the upper portion side skirt are aligned with oppositely positioned openings in a side of the lower housing. A secondary shelf is located in the lower housing below each of the two circular openings contiguous with the side openings. A lower end of the lower housing portion is attached to a conduit.

  • Patent number: 7111645
Abstract: A plug for sealing high pressure tubes is made from a memory-shape alloy. The plug is formed having a diameter greater than the inner diameter of the tube and is shaped by cooling to its martensite finish temperature and bending its wings in opposing directions such that at a later time, it will fit within the tube. After insertion into the tube, the plug is heated to its austenite finish temperature, restoring its wings to almost their original shape, thereby exerting force onto the tube walls, sealing the tube from leakage.
