  • Patent number: 8261477
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to labeling, and particularly to retail shelf labels and methods of making the same. A sheet having a retail shelf label according to an embodiment includes a liner, a transparent face layer, and a cover layer having graphics printed thereon. Adhesive couples the face layer atop the liner, and adhesive couples the cover layer atop the face layer. Cut lines in the face and cover layers define a perimeter of the label, and a cut line in the cover layer separates the cover layer into two distinct portions respectively separable from the face layer. At least a portion of the adhesive coupled to the face layer inside the label perimeter releases from the liner to removably couple the label to a shelf edge.

  • Patent number: 8249837
Abstract: A method for determining an optimized structure for skin stretch form blocks. An optimized stretch form block design is generated by performing a finite element analysis on a stretch form block design selected from a target group of the stretch form blocks which have been classified into a plurality of groups based on similar topology of the blocks. The finite element analysis includes specifying a suggested design and generating the optimized stretch form block design by iteratively modifying the suggested design until the suggested design has a predetermined sufficient structural strength. An interpolation model is generated from the optimized stretch form block design, and an optimized stretch form block structure is determined for any stretch form block having size and weight parameters within an envelope defined by the target group of the stretch form blocks, by performing a weighted nearest neighbor interpolation using specified geometric parameters and material parameters.

  • Patent number: 8239917
Abstract: Systems and methods authenticate a device to operate within an enterprise system with an enterprise policy. An agent, installed on the device, analyzes the device to determine profile information of the device. The determined profile information is sent to a type 2 super peer that verifies whether the profile information conforms to the enterprise policy. If the profile information conforms to the enterprise policy, an agent trust credential is generated, within the type 2 super peer, for the agent, based upon the profile information, and issued to the agent. Authenticity of the device is verified based upon the agent trust credential. If the device is authenticated, communications with the device are permitted. If the device is not authenticated, communications with the device is prevented. In another embodiment, a method restores a device to conform to a system policy. A snapshot of critical components of the device is taken while the device is in compliance with the system policy.

  • Patent number: 8227328
Abstract: This disclosure relates to the synthesis of Er doped GaN epilayers by in-situ doping by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). In an embodiment, both above and below bandgap excitation results in a sharp PL emission peak at 1.54 ?m. Contrary with other growth methods, MOCVD grown Er-doped GaN epilayers exhibit virtually no visible emission lines, an present a small thermal quenching effect. The Er incorporation has very little effect on the electrical conductivity of the GaN epilayers and Er doped layers retain similar electrical properties as those of undoped GaN.

  • Patent number: 8226723
Abstract: A self-retaining artificial spinal disc is formed of a flexible material and has a peripheral lip or meniscus extending from its top and/or bottom surface. The meniscus/menisci encircle portions of vertebrae adjacent the implant site, to enhance retention of the artificial spinal disc when seated in the spinal column. The meniscus/menisci for example snugly overlie the vertebral portions, and foster a suction seal between the disc and the adjacent vertebrae. The disc may be formed as an integral whole, or as two half-discs joinable by gluing, melting or like methods. In a related method, a self-retaining artificial spinal disc is formed in layers, by pouring and drying measures of liquid disc solution in a mold. A meniscal extension is formed from the disc body. Drugs or salts may be added to the disc layers, for example to provide an artificial spinal disc with time-release antibiotics or a desired porosity.
