Abstract: A method of repairing a crack in a windshield where the crack has a surfaced portion repair resin of a first viscosity is applied to the crack and then a second higher viscosity repair resin is applied over the same portion of the crack. In an alternative method where the crack has an unsurfaced or tight portion, two injectors are used to fill that portion with a lower viscosity resin.
Abstract: A synthetic method for generating pure carboxyethyl germanium sesquioxide in the absence of toxic impurities. In the method germanium dioxide and metallic germanium are not used as starting materials. The method involves steps which ensure (a) full reaction of germanium tetrachloride to ensure none is available to form germanium dioxide, (b) removal of any germanium dioxide, (c) removal of any germanium tetrachloride later produced from any germanium dioxide and (d) final removal of any germanium dioxide.
Abstract: A method of repairing a crack in a windshield where the crack has a surfaced portion in which a repair resin of a first viscosity is applied to surfaced portions of the crack and then a second higher viscosity repair resin is injected over the same portion of the crack. In an alternative method where the crack has an unsurfaced, or tight portion, two injectors are used to fill that portion with a lower viscosity resin, one placed at the end of the crack and the other near the transition from the unsurfaced to the surfaced portion.
Abstract: A slide dispensing device is described which has a cone shaped upper portion which is nestable to a conventional cytology pipette, and a lower portion which is fan shaped ending in a long narrow dispensing slot to evenly distribute a specimen material onto a slide. A method is described in which a prepared specimen is aspirated into a pipette; then the pipette is nested to a slide dispensing device which has an upper portion which is nestable to the pipette and a fan shaped lower portion forming a long narrow dispensing slot; then the assembly is placed so that the long narrow dispensing portion is on a slide; and the assembly is moved along the slide while the pipette is squeezed to expel the specimen in an even band on the slide.
Abstract: A method of finding a most likely match for a target facial image within a data base of stored facial images comprising determining a score for each data base image as a function of closeness of a quantization of selected facial features between each data base image and the target image and ordering the data base for sequential processing according to the potential value score in descending order, sequentially processing each data base image starting from the highest potential value score by an image comparison process to establish a correlation score for each comparison, and applying one or more decision rules to each comparison to reach a decision.
Abstract: A kit (150) of parts from which tools may be assembled for the repair of glass cracks by insertion of resin having an index of refraction substantially that of the glass. The tools are a repair bridge (160) and a repair bar (180) which may be placed on an automobile windshield and used to inject resin into a glass crack and a crack spreader (170) which may be placed on the inside of a windshield and used to spread the crack to facilitate entry of the resin. Methods of use of the tools are disclosed.
Abstract: A cap being formed of thin flexible self supporting material cut to shape and assembled, having a band portion, overlapped lobes to form a crown, and a visor and a blank thereof.
Abstract: A method of repairing a crack in a windshield where the crack has an open portion in which the repair resin selected for use is at minimum specified at 200 c.p.s.; and in another embodiment has a maximum of 1,000 c.p.s. and in another embodiment has a viscosity of over 1,000 c.p.s.
