Abstract: A digital Vestigial Sideband (VSB) transmission system and enhanced data multiplexing method are disclosed. When 1/2 enhanced data coded at a rate of 1/2 and 1/4 enhanced data at a rate of 1/4 are transmitted, timing jitter in Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) of Vestigial Sideband (VSB) receiver can be reduced and the size of input buffer in Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) decoder of the Vestigial Sideband (VSB) receiver can be reduced by multiplexing the 1/2 enhanced data packet and the 1/4 data packet at predetermined intervals. Multiplexing the 1/2 enhanced data packet and the 1/4 data packet by grouping increases the reception performance of the 1/4 enhanced data. Multiplexing the 1/2 enhanced data packet and the 1/4 data packet alternatively reduces the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) timing jitter in the Vestigial Sideband (VSB) receiver and increases the reception performance of the 1/4 enhanced data.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and a method for processing a ringtone in a wireless terminal. Position data of sound source samples corresponding to ringtone contents are extracted in advance and then used to play the ringtone. Musical score data are parsed from ringtone contents, and position data of the sound source samples corresponding to the parsed musical score data are extracted and stored in a database. Instead of parsing the sound source samples each time, by storing the position data of the sound source samples corresponding to the musical score data in a database, system load can be reduced during a real time playback of a ringtone.

To this end, when a travel guide map is generated again based on a new location as the position of a vehicle varies, only a certain number of map segments are retrieved from a physical storage medium such as a CD-ROM to generate the travel guide map, thereby making map-displaying speed faster. Further, when the travel guide map is generated again based on the new location as the position of the vehicle varies, map data loading speed can be faster by preventing reusable map segments among map segments loaded on an operation memory from being unnecessarily deleted, retrieved again from the physical storage medium and inserted into the operation memory.

Abstract: The present invention relates to notifying updated control information of a point-to-multipoint service in a wireless communications system. An indication about whether control channel information has been updated is transmitted and received during a time interval where data of the point-to multipoint service is not transmitted between a network and a mobile terminal. Furthermore, and indication about whether the control channel information has been updated is transmitted and received via a physical channel, to which a traffic channel is mapped. This allows the mobile terminal, which receives data of a specific point-to-multipoint service discontinuously, to effectively recognize whether the control channel information has been updated.
