Abstract: An electrical power and signal generator and sensing device mountable on a rotatable body, such as a vehicle wheel, oribiting around its axis and using the rotation of the wheel to drive the generator through a friction drive.
Abstract: A replacement roof sheet for replacing a removed roof section of a covered hopper car roof that has cracks radiating from the square corners of a rectangular hatch. The roof sheet has an arcuate cut-out aligned with the hatch opening and an upstanding, arcuate coaming web joined to said roof sheet at said cut-out, the ends of the coaming web forming joints with exposed ends of the roof coaming peripheral of the hatch opening. Two reinforcing members, having dual-angle standards, bridge the joints to reinforce them. Each member has a base portion secured to the roof sheet and the car roof, a first or lower portion conforming to the inward slope of the roof coaming and secured thereto on one side of the joint, and a second or upper portion conforming to the vertical coaming web and secured thereto on the other side of the joint. An end of the roof sheet overhangs an end wall of the car spaced from the hatch and an end sheet depends to said end wall to cover the space therebetween.
Abstract: An earphone for a wireless communication system having a transceiver unit for converting electrical signals to audio signals and coupling the audio signals through the earphone includes a shallow cup that has a communication passage between the exterior and interior with a closure member biased to a first position for sealing the communication passage and having a switch manipulatable to move the closure member from the position position to provide voice communication through the communication passage.
Abstract: A transformer formed of a construction effectiving a relatively simple assembly including an L-shaped terminal support mountable in friction-fit relative between the transformer coil and the laminated core, and including terminal plates which are also snap-fit mounted in the support.

Abstract: A subminiature power amplifier for hearing aids configured to be completely self-contained and fit within the user's ear features a Class D amplifier stage. By configuring all signal elements as digital units, circuit balance is readily maintained. A substantial economy of battery drain is achieved while preserving a low value of distortion at low signal levels. Oscillator frequency is governed by a single resistance element. The amplifier and an optional efficiency-improving inductor can be accommodated entirely within the residual volume of the motor chamber of a state-of-the-art earphone housing.
Abstract: This invention relates to a spark gap device which provides overvoltage protection; that is, if a voltage above a predetermined value is applied to a contact of a cathode ray tube socket, such voltage is dissipated to ground to thereby protect circuitry connected to the socket.
Abstract: An electrical generator utilizing a pendulum in the generator drive mechanism to provide a non-rotating reference whereby rotation of the wheel drives elements of the generator into rotation with respect to one another. The assembly is mounted in a wheel-mounted toroidal-shaped housing having a passage accommodating the vehicle axle to allow the unit to be mounted close inboard against the wheel or, alternatively, behind the wheel or within a brake system.
Abstract: A vehicle-mountable electrical power generating mechanism and signal transmitter, combined to constitute a self-powered generating system mountable such as on a wheel to monitor and provide an indication of certain operating characteristics of the wheel, such as the pressure of the tire mounted thereon.
Abstract: A multi-terminal connector unit includes a block having a plurality of spaced terminal pins extending from a surface thereof and each terminal pin is surrounded by a socket that extends to an opposite surface of the block. The bottom of each socket has at least one opening extending to the adjacent surface of the block to provide a flow-through or drain path for cleaning liquid used to clean the socket and associated PC board.
Abstract: A cutting tool for forming a tapered bore in a workpiece includes a pair of cutting blades pivotally supported in a slot at one end of a member and pivoted by an axially movable expander. In one embodiment, the member also has a drill bit configuration on the end of the member with the slot to initially produce the bore.
Abstract: A snow removal implement includes a polygonal main body having a scraping edge at one end and a hand gripping means adjacent an opposite end with a foot engageable means intermediate opposite ends so that the operator can be in a generally upright position and use leg power rather than back muscles for manipulation.
Abstract: A bag made of thin pliable plastic film, including panels having slits formed therein, the slits of the bag being formed to extend in a first direction, and the slits on a relatively facing panel having slits formed to extend in a direction transverse to said first direction.
Abstract: Control apparatus for video games has a control handle spaced apart from and joined to a separate housing by a connecting rod. The housing is contoured and securable to a user's arm, and forms an anchor point for manipulation of the control handle. The user may choose between variable resistive controls and switch controls which operate responsive to movement of the control handle and/or the connecting rod. Multiple individual controls may also be mounted on the handle to control other game functions. Plates having cutouts formed therethrough are attachable to the housing, with the control rod protruding therethrough, the movement of the control rod may thereby be limited by contact with the periphery of the cutout, preventing simultaneous engagement of two or more signal controls.
Abstract: A balanced armature electroacoustic transducer, including a pole piece formed of a stack of laminations and providing an opening or tunnel in which the vibratable end of a reed armature can vibrate between a pair of permanent magnets. A coil surrounds the central limb of the armature and the two outside limbs which provide the fixed end of the armature are located on flat faces of a pair of wings formed by the pole piece itself and accurately positioned in the same plane with the vibrating tip of the armature at the exact center of the air gap between the magnets.
Abstract: This invention relates to a mobile ionization chamber assembly for monitoring the amount of radiation delivered to an X-ray film from an X-ray source. The ionization chamber together with a portable power supply therefor are encased in an insulated housing for reducing electrical hazards to the patient and operator involved in the X-ray procedure.
Abstract: A potted plant package for protecting the flowers and plants during transit, with a part of said package being removable for forming an attractive display, such as for a gift.
Abstract: A coordinated start/stop control system for controlling the operation of multiple conveyor checkout systems, wherein the operation of a pair of rear transport belts is selectively controlled in response to the operation of a first transport belt, dependent on the actuation of a magnetically operated electrical switch by a control magnet mounted on a diverter bar or arm.
Abstract: An improved electrical circuit for selectively controlling the power to a gaseous discharge lamp. One use for such circuit and lamp is in an ink-curing process for objects printed with multiple-colored ink wherein areas of the object are printed and cured in a multiple-step operation.
