  • Patent number: 8314991
Abstract: Now, according to the present invention, interference filters are provided that incorporate two band pass interference filters into a single composite interference filter. The two filters each have at least one band pass curve that is centered at the same wavelength for light that is incident at a given angle to the filter surface. The band pass curve shifts of the filter components, however, are dissimilar, which results in a decrease of transmitted light as the angle of incidence diverges from the given angle.

  • Patent number: 6910889
Abstract: A dental tool for use with an ultrasonic transducer, includes an elongated unitary shaft member having a longitudinal axis, a proximal end and a distal end having an outer surface, an attachment member at the proximal end to enable detachable attachment to an ultrasonic transducer; and a cutting surface defined by a plurality of grooves on the outer surface forming sharp edges.

  • Patent number: 6893382
Abstract: A motorless treadmill is disclosed which exercises the upper body and lower body of a user. Displacement of an upper-body exercise mechanism such as a pair of reciprocating arm members rotates a drive roller, which is coupled to an endless belt through a transmission system. The transmission system employs a double-wound belt, which links the drive roller to the upper body exercise mechanism such that arm movements are translated into belt rotation. The double-wound belt allows for arm motion in both directions to directly drive the belt, through the use of one-way clutches orientated in opposite directions on the drive shaft. Further, the double-wound belt transmission system allows independent operation of each arm. A flywheel may be added to store energy to smooth the belt rotation.

  • Patent number: 6815617
Abstract: An axially arranged cable, such as a coaxial, triaxial, twinaxial, or armored cable which includes at least one serration on an insulative or conductive layer internal thereto and methods of manufacturing the same. These serrations may appear on insulators or inner jackets and are in physical contact with conductive layers such as shields which axially surround the insulative layers. The serrations generally increase the contact force between the insulative layers and the conductiver layers to help prevent separation of the cable core during stripping of the axial cable.

  • Patent number: 6794881
Abstract: The root mean square of a power frequency voltage is measured across a large dynamic range, for example in order to measure electrical output, by converting the voltage to be measured into two or more partial voltage proportional thereto and measuring each partial voltage using an individual diode rectifier. The output voltages of said diode rectifiers are then converted into a digital value and each of these digital values is weighted with weighting factors, the ratio of said weighting factors being derived from the control factor of at least one of the diode rectifiers. These weighted digital values are then scaled to a common quantification unit and added to achieved the actual digital measurement value.

  • Patent number: 6793051
Abstract: A piece of baggage is provided with a retractable pocket that is configured to support a beverage container on the exterior of the piece of baggage. The pocket is constructed of a mesh material and has an elastic strap along an upper edge that allows the pocket to expand to support various size containers, such as bottled water. When not in use, the pocket can be held collapsed against or inside the piece of baggage by a closure mechanism such as a zipper. This conceals the pocket to improve the aesthetic appearance of the piece of baggage and reduces the risk of snagging the mesh pocket as the piece of baggage is transported.

  • Patent number: 6770865
Abstract: A light detecting device, particularly one which indicates illumination by a laser, and methods for its use. The device includes at least two light detectors which each comprise a light sensor and a light control filter. The light control filter includes microlouvers arranged so that the microlouvers of the two different light detectors are at different angles. The light detecting device may be used to determine the direction to the source of the light detected. Further, two or more devices may be combined into a system that allows for a user to determine the distance to the source of light, particularly laser light emitted by a laser rangefinder. The system is designed to be functional under combat or other battlefield conditions and relatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture.

  • Patent number: 6747526
Abstract: The invention relates to a 90° power divider for distributing the power of an input signal (E) to two output branches (A1, A2) that are phase-shifted against each other by 90°. A capacity (C) is arranged in one output branch (A1) and an inductivity (L) is arranged in the remaining output branch (A2). Said capacity and inductivity are measured as follows: C=½*&pgr;*Z1*Fo, L=Z2/2*&pgr;*Fo, whereby Fo is the centre frequency and Z1 and Z2 are the terminating resistances of the output branches (A1, A2) respectively.
