    Abstract: The invention relates to a magneto-optical switching device for switching magnetization in a medium, comprising a magnetizable medium. According to the invention, a radiation system suited for imparting angular momentum to the magnetic spin system of said magnetizable medium, so as to selectively orient the magnetization of said medium. In addition, the invention relates to a method of switching a magnetizable medium, comprising providing a magnetizable medium; providing a radiation beam of a selectively chosen angular momentum; and targeting said radiation beam to said medium so as to transfer said angular momentum to a magnetic spin system of said magnetizable medium. Accordingly, spin states in magnetic materials can be manipulated using radiation of a suitable angular momentum. An effective magnetic field is generated for orienting the magnetization of the domains and can simultaneously be used to locally heat the material.

    Abstract: A method of making a single-crystalline Si wafer with an approximately polygonal cross section and having a material property that is the same as a zone-pulled Si crystal, and the single-crystalline Si wafer. The method includes pulling at least one bottle neck of a crystal vertically downwards from a rotating hanging melt drop. The rotational speed of the crystal is reduced to between 0 and less than 1 rpm. In a crystal-growth phase, a Si single crystal ingot is pulled vertically downwards with an approximately polygonal cross section. An inductor is used to generate a temperature profile at a growth phase boundary of the crystal that corresponds to the shape of a cross section of the pulled Si single crystal ingot. The growth is ended at a desired pulling length and the Si single crystal ingot is cut into wafers having an approximately polygonal cross section.

Each nanocylinder includes at least four superposed layers including, alternatively, the atoms of the magnetic element and the atoms of the non-magnetic element. The nanoporous Al2O3 membrane is then removed so that the nanocylinders remain on the substrate.

A plurality of optical signals generated after being driven by the plurality of driving signals is combined into one optical total signal. A second detecting signal with a frequency band the same as that of the first detecting signal is extracted from the signals obtained after the wavelength detection. The wavelength of the optical signal in the corresponding channel among the multiple channels is controlled according to the second detecting signal. A device for stabilizing multi-channel optical signal wavelengths is also provided. Using the above method or device, the multi-channel optical signal wavelengths can be stabilized, which requires less elements, and has a simple circuit structure, a high integration level, and a low cost.
