  • Patent number: 8319975
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to perform wavefront analysis, including phase and amplitude information, and 3D measurements in optical systems, and in particular those based on analyzing the output of an intermediate plane, such as an image plane, of an optical system. Measurement of surface topography in the presence of thin film coatings, or of the individual layers of a multilayered structure is described. Multi-wavelength analysis in combination with phase and amplitude mapping is utilized. Methods of improving phase and surface topography measurements by wavefront propagation and refocusing, using virtual wavefront propagation based on solutions of Maxwell's equations are described. Reduction of coherence noise in optical imaging systems is achieved by such phase manipulation methods, or by methods utilizing a combination of wideband and coherent sources.

  • Patent number: 8315520
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a system for transmitting data. The OLT sets a multiframe indication and an upstream timeslot indication overhead in the downstream frame sent to the ONU. After receiving the downstream frame, the ONU determines the upstream bandwidth position according to the multiframe indication and the upstream timeslot indication overhead, and sends upstream data to the OLT from the upstream bandwidth position of the upstream frame. Through controlling the upstream data transmission by multiframes, each T-CONT carries an overhead area regardless of the length, and thus able to carry longer payload as against an equivalent overhead area in the prior art. In this way, the overhead area is saved and the bandwidth utilization is improved.

  • Patent number: 8313683
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a plastic laminated article comprising a surface layer of a sheet-like surface member and a synthetic resin backing material layer laminated on the surface layer, without causing a fracture or a reduction in wall thickness of the sheet-like surface member. When the male mold is pressed against the contact area of the sheet-like surface member, the temperature of the contact area of the sheet-like surface member gradually falls due to a thermal gradient between the male mold and the contact area of the sheet-like surface member. Simultaneously, the contact area of the sheet-like surface member is not heated directly. In addition, the direction of jet flow of a hot fluid is changed, by fluid guide surfaces, from the center of the sheet-like surface member to the outer periphery, of the sheet-like surface member.

  • Patent number: 8307678
Abstract: A gauge control apparatus reduces deviation of an actual plate thickness from a target plate thickness on the delivery side of a rolling mill, in all speed ranges, and produces good products by controlling plate thickness considering changes in the oil film thickness of oil film bearings of backup rolls and the deformation resistance of a rolled material with respect to rolling speeds. The gauge control apparatus computes an oil film thickness compensation value to compensate for increase and decrease of the gap resulting from a change in thickness of the oil film bearing attributable to rolling speeds, an acceleration compensation value to compensate for increase and decrease of plate thickness on the delivery side of the rolling mill resulting from a change in deformation resistance of the rolled material attributable to rolling speeds, and deviation of the predicted plate thickness from the target plate thickness, in consideration of the computed compensation values.
