Hydraulic cylinders are mounted between the housing and the gantry for fixing the housing relative to the gantry, having their one ends pivotally connected to the housing and their opposite ends pivotally connected to the gantry.

    Abstract: An X-ray fluorescence thickness measuring devise includes a primary X-ray beam collimation and workpiece positioning system that markedly increases the detectable fluorescent X-radiation from diverse specimen calibration standards and workpieces subjected to measurement. The positioning system includes an optical viewing system that provides a video signal image of the specimen surface prior to and during specimen radiation without hazard to the unit operator and independent of the collimator bore selected. A further feature of the measuring device is that it includes a system which assures repetitive and accurate positioning of a selected collimator relative to the axis of the X-ray beam to obtain maximum beam transmission therethrough.

These spectrometric channels include, successively arranged downstream fluorescent X-rays of the specimen, a common inlet annular slit with a radius R, focusing analyzer crystals, outlet slits, and detectors of X-rays. The common annular slit is spaced from the reference surface of the holder to a distance h equal to 0.5 R, where R is 0.5 dD/2L, where d is the diameter of the outlet port of the transmission target, D is the diameter of the fo-fusing ring of the focusing analyzer crystals, and L is the length of one of the focusing analyzer crystals.

    Abstract: A single-blow pneumatic percussive tool comprises a hollow cylindrical casing (1) accommodating a reciprocatable hammer piston (2) which divides the interior space of the casing (1) into an upper and a lower chambers (3, 4). A spring-biased valve (5) is mounted on the side of the lower chamber (4) and a working member (6) is secured to the valve (5). An air distribution device (7) is mounted on the side of the upper chamber (3) and has passages (8, 9, 10) and a control lever (11). The hammer piston (2) has an axial passage (13) in which a tube (14) is mounted which has a shoulder (15) on the outer surface and a continuous inner partition wall (16). The tube (14) has upper and lower ports (17, 18) disposed on either side of the partition wall (16). An air distribution sleeve (19) biassed by spring on the side of the air distribution device (7) is mounted on the tube (14) and has an inner recess (21).

    Abstract: The apparatus includes a housing 1 accommodating inner and outer tubes 2 and 4, respectively, arranged concentrically relative to each other. Lower ends of the tubes 2 and 4 are connected by a flange 15 to a disk-type feeder 14 the flange and feeder having holes 13 and 21 through which the interior of a heating chamber 9 confined between the outer wall of the outer tube 4 and inner wall of the housing 1 communicates with interior 17 of the inner tube 2 and with the interior of the drying chamber 6 confined between the outer wall of the inner tube 2 and inner wall of the outer tube 4. Communicating with the drying chamber 6 are a charging hopper 7 and a discharging means 8 occupying the bottom part of the apparatus. Disposed in the wall of the housing 1 between the flange 15 and worm 5 of the outer tube 4 is a furnace 11 having a burner 12 and communicating with the interior of the heating chamber 9. In addition, the heating chamber 9 communicates with an exhaust pipe 10 of a suction means.

Outlet apertures are provided for releasing irrigation fluid first through the inner tube or conduit, and inlet apertures are provided on the larger outer tube for receiving the irrigation fluid at a distal end of the colon. An enlarged end of the outer tube facilitates gripping of the tube once inserted into the colon so that it can be brought to the area to be irrigated. In the alternative, an inflatable bladder or balloon is provided which supplied with compressed air through a third tube running along the inside surface of the larger outer tube which can be inflated once the device is inserted into the colon and inflated to facilitate the gripping.

In the machine for sewing netting webs over their edges with a triple-thread chain stitch, the looper hook (10) is mounted for moving about the needle (8) at the side of the device (17) for advancing the webs, which provides for forming from the thread ( 4) of the needle (8) a turned loop (5) when the looper hook (10) moves the turned loop (7) intermediate the needle (8) and its thread (4).

    Abstract: A method of protecting the internal surface of a pipeline against corrosion resides in introducing into the pipeline a composition comprising 0.01 to 1 part of a phosphate and a silicate. The phosphate can be sodium polyphosphate or monosubstituted potassium phosphate. The silicate can be an alkaline metal silicate or silicon dioxide. The weight ratio of the phosphate to the silicate varies from 9-50:1, respectively, and the composition includes up to 100 parts of water. The composition is formed by fusing the phosphate and the silicate at a temperature of about 800 to 10000 degrees C. and cooling the fused composition until a vitreous structure is formed. The composition is then introduced into a pipeline containing water having a P.sub.2 O.sub.5 concentration of about 0.3 to 3.5 milligrams per liter.
