    Abstract: A mill comprises at least one rolling stand with rolls having congruent lengthwise arranged forming elements, a drive stand and apparatus for locally heating a sheet metal at its portions to be transversely deformed or corrugated. The apparatus for locally heating the sheet metal includes inductors and a cam mechanism adapted to move said inductors up to and down from the sheet metal. The distributing shaft of the cam mechanism is connected through a transfer mechanism with one of the rolls of the rolling stand. The gear ratio of the transfer mechanism is equal to the number of the forming elements of one of the rolls of the rolling stand. The mill is simple in construction and easy to re-adjust when producing sheet panels with another spacing between the deformed portions or corrugations.

    Abstract: An electric spark building-up of metal on the working surfaces of rolls is effected by applying a voltage from an unipolar current source to each roll being treated and to an electrode interacting with the surface of the rolls. Building up of metal is effected continuously in the course of operation, the rate of the metal build-up exceeding the rate of wear of the roll surface until a limit layer of metal is formed the thickness of which is maintained constant, thereby maintaining the initial shape of the roll working profile. The device for electric spark treatment is mounted on the rolling stand so that the electrodes and sliding contacts are in contact with the rolls, the electrodes interacting with the working surfaces of the rolls.

    Abstract: The pressure valve is actuated by pressurized fluid and has a housing with a high-pressure space and a low-pressure space separated from each other by a partition. The partition has a bore accommodating a valve member. Axial passages are made in the body of the valve member for establishing alternating communication between the spaces upon the displacement of the valve member. The low-pressure space receives a pressure-relief valve spring-urged away from the partition and movable by the action of pressure selectively supplied to initiate relieving of the high-pressure space. The pressure-relief piston has an axial bore. The pressure valve incorporates an auxiliary piston in the axial bore of the pressure-relief piston and it cooperates with the valve member to displace the latter. The body of the valve member is provided with throttling passages communicating with the axial passages.

    Abstract: An apparatus for delivery of melting rings and valves to an inductor heater, for hard facing of valves for internal combustion engines by melting rings of heat-resistant alloy upon the working surfaces of valves, comprises gravity feed trays, one for feeding the work valves in a vertical position and the other for feeding work rings laid on their side to a tubular body. Between the exit of the tray for feeding the rings and the tubular body there is installed a horizontal tray which is located under the gravity feed tray for feeding the valves and in the same vertical plane with said tray. The distance between the sliding surfaces of the tray along which the valve head moves and the sliding surfaces of the horizontal tray along which the ring lying on its side moves is less than the length of the valve stem, so that the valve stem enters the hole of the ring and delivers it to the tubular body.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for obtaining an ingot wherein elastic oscillations are directed on metal being crystallized over a broad frequency range and at high intensity in the form of powerful pulses generated by a high-voltage spark discharge in liquid. One form of the apparatus of the invention comprises a discharge chamber filled with liquid in contact with a mould or with melt. The discharge chamber is provided with a system of electrodes connected to a pulse current generator. Upon feeding high-voltage current pulses to the electrodes, high pressure, impulse flows, cavitation and surge waves are built-up in the liquid resulting in the appearance of elastic oscillations acting on the molten metal.

    Abstract: An electrical machine with cryogenic cooling has a hollow rotor filled with a coolant and comprising a superconducting winding provided with at least two supply leads being cooled. One of the supply leads is connected to a plus sign current-collecting means and is disposed in at least one cooling duct for cooling one end part of the hollow shaft of the rotor. The cooling ducts for cooling both end parts of the hollow shaft of the rotor are connected, via respective exhausting means for withdrawing the coolant from the rotor, with respective coolant collecting chambers. The other supply lead is coupled to a minus sign current-collecting means. The hollow shaft of the rotor is provided with a passage for feeding the coolant to the superconducting winding, said passage being connected with an inlet means for introducing the coolant to the rotor, the inlet means being disposed in one end part of the hollow shaft of the rotor.

The method is carried out with the aid of a device comprising a light pulse pacemaker, an audio pulse pacemaker, pulse frequency, duration and amplitude setting units, modulators of signals produced by the pacemakers, which are controlled by the setting units, and a switch intended to determine the direction of variation of audio and light signals. The device also includes a programming unit to receive information on the state of the central nervous system.

A magnetic control means is contained in a sub-casing of the switch. The manual magnetic switch has a conductive plate with an electrical contact fixedly mounted in its casing and another conductive plate, generally rigid and inflexible, has an electrical contact mounted thereon for pivoting or sliding movement. Permanent magnets, one on the movable plate, and one outside the casing urge the movable plate to a contact engaging position when the outside magnetic member is brought proximate to the casing, and a spring is used to restore the movable plate to its non-engaging position when the outside magnetic member is moved away from the casing.

    Abstract: A catalyst for dealkylating alkyl benzenes and fractions of aromatized benzines by means of steam conversion is disclosed. The catalyst comprises rhodium or rhodium in a mixture with another noble metal from Group VIII of the Periodic System in an amount of 0.1 to 2 wt. % on a carrier of aluminum oxide and also at least one of the elements selected from the group consisting of sulfur, selenium or lead in an amount of 0.003 to 3 wt. %. To increase the yield of the final product, the catalyst also comprises at least one element selected from the group containing iron, cobalt, nickel, chrome, copper, and vanadium in an amount of 0.01 to 5 wt. %, and at least one of the elements of the alkaline or alkaline earth metals or mixtures thereof in an amount of 0.01 to 5 wt. %.The proposed catalyst features a high degree of selectivity for dealkylating alkyl benzenes in combination with a high degree of starting feed conversion.

    Abstract: An ingot casting apparatus having an open top ingot moulds hinged to an endless hauling chain of a conveyer. The conveyer is inclined so that the upper descending branch of the endless chain with the ingot moulds placed thereon is inclined to the horizontal at an angle of 30.degree.-60.degree. . Each ingot mould is formed by a bottom, two longitudinal walls and a single transverse wall. The transverse wall of each ingot mould is provided with an opening for passage of the molten metal. With such an arrangement the cavities of the ingot moulds communicate with one another by means of openings provided in the transverse wall of each ingot mould. Mounted above the ingot moulds arranged on the upper descending branch of the endless chain of the conveyer, below the zone where the molten metal is poured into the ingot moulds, is a water-cooled plate adjoining tightly to the top ribs of the walls of the ingot moulds passing under the plate after the molten metal has been poured into them.

    Abstract: A method of non-destructive quality testing of spot welds resides in that in the test weld nugget region there is produced a primary electromagnetic field inducing eddy currents in that region. Thereupon, the primary electromagnetic field is displaced in a direction parallel to the surface of contact of the welded parts. The phase angle between the resultant and primary magnetic fields is measured at the points characterized by the maximum of the primary electromagnetic field intensity lying on the same line parallel to the surface of the test weld and located in the zone disposed between the points located on either side of the test weld zone wherein the weld nugget is disposed, the weld nugget thickness is evaluated from the difference between the maximum phase value of the intensity measured in the test weld zone wherein the weld nugget is absent and the minimum phase value of the intensity measured in the test weld zone wherein the weld nugget is disposed.
