    Abstract: The organic compound oxidation plant comprises vessels for organic compounds and for liquid-phase oxidizer, and a mixer for mixing organic compounds. The plant further includes a furnace for heating organic compounds and a reactor for oxidizing organic compounds. The top portion of the reactor is made cylindrical and accommodates a spraying unit for the supply of organic compounds and a liquid-phase oxidizer dispersion unit. The bottom portion of the reactor is made conical and accommodates a spraying unit additionally mounted therein at an angle to the reactor horizontal axis. Said latter spraying unit has nozzles ensuring the supply of organic compounds to the conical surface of the reactor. The nozzles of the spraying unit are provided with screens serving to ensure directional movement of organic compounds to the spraying unit and with openings for the supply of organic compounds, above which openings guide deflectors are mounted.

    Abstract: A method for constructing strains which produce aminoacids comprising combining of a DNA chromosome fragment of a donor microorganism containing genes controlling the synthesis of a selected aminoacid and having a mutation destroying the negative regulation of the synthesis of this aminoacid with a vector DNA molecule to form a hybrid DNA molecule. Use is made of a vector DNA molecule capable of providing amplification of the hybrid DNA molecule. The resulting hybrid DNA molecule is used for transforming cells of the recipient strain having the mutation blocking the synthesis of the selected aminoacid in this strain and the mutation partly blocking the related step of metabolism of this aminoacid to yield the strain capable of increased productivity of the selected aminoacid.

    Abstract: A vehicle comprising a sprung mass and unsprung masses, front and rear suspensions coupling said sprung mass through said unsprung masses so that said unsprung masses can move independently in a vertical direction with respect to said sprung mass. Each of said suspensions comprising a resilient element and levers, the ends of which are hingedly connected to an unsprung mass while their other ends are connected to said sprung mass. A unit for said resilient elements is arranged on said sprung mass; and a plurality of flexible elements, each coupling said unit for said resilient elements with an unsprung mass. The flexible elements are under tension in the entire range of the vertical movement of an unsprung mass with respect to said sprung mass due to pretightening of the resilient elements.

    Abstract: The method and appliance for fire extinguishing according to the present invention are suitable for use in stationary depot premises, baggage and engineering compartments of transportation facilities, etc. According to the method of the invention, at a suitable position in a compartment, an individual container is fixed, which is fitted with a fuse 3 responding to infrared radiation and carries a fire extinguishing compound whose function is effectuated by a chemically active liquid inhibitor confined in miniature capsules made from thermoplastic material and which is distributed over the compartment after ignition of the fuse 3 by conversion from a liquid to a gas. Vapors of the gaseous inhibitor escape from the container and produce a noncombustible atmosphere in the compartment. The appliance for performing this method embodies a container made non-gastight and fitted with a thermal charge placed inside it in the form of a rod manufactured from a highly inflammable oxygen-containing substance.

    Abstract: An electric circuit switching device comprises a group of closing contact pairs and a group of breaking contact pairs, each group having stationary contacts arranged circumferentially on an insulating panel, and a switching element; a unit for rotating the switching elements; and an electromagnetic drive providing translatory motion of the switching elements while closing and breaking the contact pairs. The unit for rotating the switching elements is a rotary electromechanical drive having a means for setting the angle of rotation of its output shaft depending on the position of the contacts to be switched on the insulating panel. The electromagnetic drive has two electromagnets, the first of which provides translatory motion of the switching element of the group of the closing contact pairs, and the second electromagnet providing translatory motion of the switching element of the group of the breaking contact pairs.

    Abstract: A device is disclosed for severing both a needle portion and an end nub portion of a syringe. The device includes a receptacle for the cutoff portions and a removable cover. A horizontally movable severing means may be suspended from the undersurface of the cover. Mounted on the cover is a handle which is mechanically linked to the severing means. Actuation or movement of the handle thereby causes horizontal movement of the severing means. By resting the syringe in a shoulder portion of the cover, the needle and nub portions of the syringe extend downward through an opening and are in line with the severing means. Therefore, when the severing means is moved in a horizontal direction, it will necessarily cut off the needle and nub portions.

The preferred alloys are 9 and 10 carats. The alloys exhibit satisfactory color tone and luster and have improved physical and chemical properties including workability, hardness, chemical resistance and perspiration resistance. The alloys are fabricated into articles which are surface finished by buffing or electrolytic polishing.

The AND gates have their inputs coupled to the complement and true outputs respectively of the augend and addend registers so as to provide for analyzing the condition of the flip-flips of the registers, and have their outputs coupled to the set inputs of the bit positions of the augend register and, via a delay unit, to the reset inputs of the bit position of the addend register, which provides for transfer of a 1 from the ith bit position of the addend register to the ith bit position of the augend register containing a 0. A Fibonnaci p-code minimizing unit has its inputs coupled to the outputs of the augend and addend registers, and has its outputs coupled to the normalize signal input of the augend register.

The apparatus also incorporates a device for axial compression, and tools disposed symmetrically in relation to the direction of compression and reciprocating laterally to said direction for embracing the pipe blank. The apparatus contains a device for feeding shaping fluid into the pipe blank. The hydraulic drive according to the present invention comprises hydraulic cylinders, each having a movable link provided with a through passage and mechanically coupled with the respective clamp.

    Abstract: The invention relates to mining and metallurgy. The apparatus comprises a feed device, and a discharging device and a rotor mounted inside a housing formed with toothed sprockets set rigidly on a shaft. The sprockets are mounted in series on the shaft of the rotor and carry crescent-shaped teeth, a concave surface thereof being arranged radially with respect to the rotor and the cross section being a T with a web located at right angle to the axis of said rotor and with a flange situated in parallel to the axis of said rotor. The invention can most advantageously be employed for crushing a hot agglomerated mass and stabilizing sinter lumps in terms of shape and mechanical strength, but may also be used to crush large coal lumps, slag skulls, particularly, ones in hot state, flagstone blocks, frozen materials and the like.

C. The quantity of the alkali metal nitrate in the nitrating mixture is from 0.1 to 8 moles per mole of the starting cross-linked polymer.The method provides conditions for preparing cross-linked vinylaromatic polymers, containing nitro groups, having higher mechanical strength, high osmotic stability, and their volume in an ion-exchange column changes insignificantly as acid media are changed for alkaline, and vice versa.
